By the 2nd week of January we should have all the arrangements (plane, hotel and car rental) taken care of, since hotelas are likely to be booked up if we wait longer and the longer we wait the higher airfare will be.2. I propose the 2nd week as many are spending $$$ like mad on Christams stuff and might be travelling for the holidays. The second week of January will at least give some of us the chance to have 1 or 2 paychecks in after the holiday period.3. Do we want to get a "package" deal for all of us going (including airfare, accomodation, and car rental), that way, price might be less or do we each take care of our own airfare and then book the hotel as a group?(consider that some might want to leave on Friday the 22nd during the day or after work, or some might want to leave on the 23rd). I've looked at air tix thorugh travelocity and its coming up to 220 to 260 depending where you leave from (IAD/BWI/DCA)and where you get to (MIA/FtL) and the day you leave...Imaybe if we all booked through some travel agency as a package we could get a good deal....any suggestions anyone? shadygroovedc Posted December 21 Report Share Posted December 21 Maybe you should look into some suites like Homewood Suites or something like that as well, if they have some on the strip. Cause you get two rooms and a decent sized living room and kitchen. Which means you can jam about 6-10 people in one suite. And the suites aren't that expensive either. I tried to call you a bunch of times but you were always sleep or at work. I never made it to any clubs anyhow, all the "pre-parties" turned into ragers and we ended up staying where we were. MIA is a 10-15 minute ride to South Beach (sobe). The Ft.Lauderdale/Hollywood airport is a 30-minute drive to sobe.Rental Cars – Unless you plan on driving around Miami; I would forget about a rental car. If you stay on sobe and have a rental, you will wind up paying about $10-12 a day to park your rental. You can take supper shuttle ,from the airport to sobe. If you have a group of people; you can work out pricing with Super Shuttle (305) 871 - 2000Events – a majority of wmc events will be taking place on the beach. There will be some events downtown at Space, Opium Garden, etc. In addition Ultra Fest will be downtown as well.A cab from sobe to downtown will run you $10-14 dollars. Restaurants/ Shopping – If you’re staying on sobe you have an abundance of Restaurants, Fast Food establishments, Grocery Stores, Shops, etc. all within walking distanceHotels – you want to try and get hotels, which are in the heart of sobe. Hence, you don’t want to go beyond 22nd st. you can find decent rates here. you also will be able to view the actual hotels and some rooms.
