Call for artists

Recommended Posts

We're looking for a few good artists - people who want to lend their creative talents and be part of a crazy night of art, music, and fun. Please note that this is not a call for DJs - that stuff is being handled separately. “Feedback†is going to be a mellower, more cerebral event, while “Garden in the Machine†is going to be an all night dance party with a strong artistic flavor. We have a bunch of people who have been buzzing and making plans for the last few weeks, but now we're looking for more people to jump in and get involved. We'll also need greeters, organizational types, and crew people, so if you don't have a lot of artistic talent but still want to be involved, please don't be shy.

For two separate shows in Brooklyn NY going up on Saturday February 16 as part of the NY Metropolis Music Festival. The metropolis is a new alternative NY newspaper, their web site is www.nymetropolis.com. Our contribution to the festival is centered around electronic music.

Show 1: "Feedback" At the Halcyon Café in Brooklyn, from 6-9 pm. Looking for art that in some way invites the audience to participate, and become part of the show. Interactive, does not mean simply digital, however. We are seeking performance, installation, conceptual, 3-dimensional, 2-dimensional, verbal, and any other kind of art that would fit with the concept. Open to all interpretations of the word "interactive," directed toward an adult audience. Forward proposals for Feedback to Jane Gurfinkel: BabieJenks@aol.com

Show 2: "Garden in the Machine." Interactive Art Event At the Combustive Arts Gallery in Brooklyn, form 9 pm-6 am. Looking for art that deals with any elements of the relationship between the natural and the mechanical--from the most literal to the most figurative. Again, the interpretation of, and medium for the theme is extremely open-ended, but the intention of the art is still to invoke the audience to participate and interact with the art and the environment, as opposed to merely spectating. The physical space is very versatile, so we are interested in art of all sizes and magnitudes. Later in the evening we would love to have ongoing, interactive performances that take place during the regular schedule of music-this is a great opportunity to collaborate with someone who can accompany art work with electronic music. Forward proposals for Garden in the Machine to Monica DiGiovanni: mmdigiovanni@yahoo.com, please put "Proposal for the Garden" in subject box
