first of all.......... everyone IS entitled to their own opinion, and that's fine......................now dj jon stephen, u said your from rhode island right???...........obviously now you live in new york, and the scene is much better there.........i have done it all in nyc, and obviously it's hot......however, it's NOT THAT HOT where i would rather drive three hours every weekend just to go to a club.............if you've been to metropolis lately you would know that it's been much improved.........and things are all moving in the right direction, it's people like u who bash everything about the rhode island scene that hold it down, and the fact that u are from rhode island, and show no rhody love at all is just beat. like it or not metropolis DOES get good talent.........i mean we can't get dj jon stephen, but we can get peeps like tiesto, project, hex mikey mac, acosta, space girl ( who i'm sure you'll say is wack, although she went to juliard.... which is rather exclusive, but being the big city boy that you are, u already knew that......) my point is just because u used to live here and moved on to new york, don't try and bash rhody......like u never had any fun when u were here, i know it's not nyc, but like i said, been there done that.........we're all just trying to have fun, and make the best of what we have.......rather than bash it, why not just enjoy it??? and take it for what it is.......a good club in a small city..........

Oh great......another one that lost the skill of reading comprehension.

Go back and read the entire post before you make comments. When the question arose of where to go, I told him. I said the best talent is Pulse and I said bars are generally more fun. I then stated Envy or Metro is the place to be. I also stated that it is worth the 45 minute drive to Boston to hang out there for a club.

Rhody pride? You don't know me and know nothing about me. Because I don't care for the club scene, I'm automatically considered a Rhody basher?

You know what.......I'm through with this. Some of you are hopeless.

Rhody's a great place to live...we DO have a scene here, but we're also a mere hour from Boston and 3 hours from NYC. Add to that some of the best beaches in the Northeast, 30 minutes away from casinos, a corrupt capital mayor, a carpeted mall...hello, are your malls carpeted, I don't think so..., quahogs galore...do you non-Rhode Islanders even know what a quahogs is...DELICIOUS, Del's Lemonade, Haven Brothers, Newport Jai-Li...that's right, we have Jai-Li, like on the Miami Vice intro..., Mafia aplenty, scores of girls that talk like truck drivers and scratch themselves in public regularly, the list of benefits goes on and on.

I LOVE THIS STATE!! IF YOU DON'T, GOOD, DON'T MOVE HERE, BECAUSE WE NEED THE RESIDENTIAL SPACE FOR MORE CHEESY BROADS!!

Don't forget coffee milk -- you think autocrat comes from come colossal farm in the midwest? No way, home grown here in RI

And if it wasn't for Rhode Island there wouldn't be any GI Joes, Barbies, Mr Potato Heads and other great toys because Hasbro would have no place to call home!

Haha, this is a great post, but I do feel I have to comment!

3 hours to NYC, what the hell kind of car do you drive!?! Next time I go down there I'm riding w/ you!

Worcester has carpeted malls... and I don't think anyone's jealous of Worcester!

Del's is amazing, Jai-Li is the stupidest/most fun sport you'll ever watch, the cheesy broads are MORE than plentiful, and for the love of God, how do you elect a mayor that's SO f'ing shady!?! (coughmafiacoughguidos)

Coffee milk will only be sold in Rhode Island because it isn't enjoyed by a soul outside RI :puke:

No mention of pizza strips??

RI's got more character than just about any state in the union, crammed into a space just bigger than your back yard!

I gotta tell y'all, this is bringin' a tear to my eye...just like Trinity Rep's yearly Christmas Carol does...just like the P-Bruins winning the Calder cup did...just like the first time I watched the intro to the NBC's "Providence" did...just like the Bristol 4th of July parade does every year...just like when Salty Brine passed away...just like that one time Mount St. Charles lost a game in hockey...just like seeing Sarah DeCosta tend goal for the US Women's hockey team did...just like hearing John Cafferety and the Beaver Brown band play "On the Dark Side" at the PPAC did...

So many wonderful memories. God Bless Rhode Island, and God bless all of you.

I almost forgot to mention Rocky Point! Jesus, remember Rocky Point? Remember the Corkscrew? And the Free Fall? And the Haunted House? And all the great bands that would play there...I saw Sophie B. Hawkins, "Damn, I wish I was your lover"...how jealous are you?

I wish it were still open. Today, kids are all about those super fast and safe rides. Rubbish, I say. Gimme a good ole fashion rickety wooden coaster, the kind that could fall apart at any moment, and that's what I call livin'.

haha this is awesome...because no matter where you grew up in RI you know exactly what people talk about. As far as John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band...Groovefire...my family is actually really good friends with him...I babysat his son for years because we have a summer house right near him and let me tell you he looks exactly the same as he did in the 80s

-brian is absolutely right about meatball......everything esle aside, he gives us the only radio show playing dance music, and is always on top of the new releases.........

-brett did an amazing job at metropolis on friday nights, and now brian has taken over for him and i've heard him rip it on many occasions..........and as far as saturdays go, tiesto was amazing a few months ago......hex comes back on a regular basis and never disappoints.....and if you read the metropolis board....there are very big names slated to appear that have never been to providence, or boston.......

-as far as the strand goes, they have converted all of their nights over to a mix with mostly hip-hop.......

-most of the clubs in providence are geared toward the college crowd and play their music accordingly, but scattered around you can find some places doing there own thing, like liquid lounge as josh mentioned.......also century lounge on sunday nights has a very very good deep house night.......

Okay, I am going to state my rhetoric and then be done......

I loved Rhody......I lived there all my life and I still bring that charactoristic to the NYC scene. How much of a Rhody am I?

Christmas Carrol.....remember Peter Garrity?

Calder Cup....Jozef Stumpel

Salty Brine......."No School Foster/Gloucester"

Sarah DaCosta......Forgot the school (I'd like to say EG)

Rocky point....The grandmas with tattoos all over their arms hanging out by the Cyclone

Whatever.....I love RI, my best friends are still there (the ones that havn't gotten out) and my parents are still there. The bar scene is awesome......always a good time and not really a sour approach to everyone. The summer scene, well, I grew up in South Kingstown right next to URI and went to Narragansett every day........South County night scene was awesome....worked as a waiter at The Spain in Narragansett. But the club scene is not up to par. If you try to argue with me on this one you are foolish. Now, some steps are being taken in the right direction, but it will take time before it is good at all.

lol............my gf has a house down there, and everyone there knows about cafferty..........been going there all summer for a few years now......we'll have to get together this summer.... cause there's not too many people our age there, so it would be nice to hang with someone who is for a change...........;)
