Known for his original and funky take on the modern progressive sound, his tracks are consistently charted by the top DJ's in the world. Selected as one the first DJ's to mix a CD for the popular Nu Breed series, Sander is also as a DJ for his regarded for his stunning sets of unconventional house and trance. After several acclaimed sets in Boston at Axis, this will be his Avalon debut. Kevin Saunderson One of Detroit's "Big Three" (along with Derrick May and Juan Atkins), Kevin is considered to be one of the originators of modern techno. His production work as Inner City yielded two tracks in the UK top ten ("Good Life" and "Big Fun") as well as six more within the Top 40, and his work as E Dancer as well as under his own name has had massive impact on the worldwide dance market since the beginning. Back for his first Boston appearance in over four years, this is a rare opportunity to catch one of the men responsible for the creation of modern dance music. Friday March 15th JUNIOR VASQUEZ If you looked up "DJ Legend" in the dance music dictionary, the entry would likely be beside a photo of Junior. One of the first DJ's to cross over to mainstream culture; the man has done everything from remixing pop stars like Whitney Houston to befriending Madonna. Famous for his twelve-hour plus sets, the most amazing thing about Junior is that despite his worldwide fame and massive success; he's barely ever traveled to play outside of his home of NYC. Back to Boston for an ultra rare appearance, and a special extended set, Junior is sure to make this Anniversary one to remember. LOUIE VEGA Few men have influenced house music more than Louie Vega. Alongside partner Kenny Dope, Louie's production as Masters at Work has consistently revolutionized the soulful end of the dance music spectrum. Louie's list of original production credits include (to name just a few) tracks such as "Everybody Be Somebody", "The Bounce", "Mind Fluid", and "I Can't Get No Sleep". His list of remix projects is staggering; including artists such as Bjork, Deee-Lite, Neneh Cherry, Soul II Soul, Donna Summer, Janet Jackson, Daft Punk, Incognito, Brand New Heavies, Stephanie Mills and many, many more. Known for blending the boundaries between "roots" music and modern day house with his Nuyorican Soul project, Louie has also worked with major musical figures such as George Benson and Roy Ayers. This will be Louie's first return to Avaland in many years, and will be proof once again that he is as accomplished as a DJ as he is a producer. DJ PERETZ aka PERRY FARRELL Perry Farrell is one of those rare visionaries who actually change how people view music. From the work of his early ground breaking band Jane's Addiction, to pioneering the massively influential Lollapalooza tours, to his later work with Porno for Pyros; Perry has consistently reshaped the modern definition of "pop music". Spanning a variety of genres from esoteric downtempo to modern progressive, Perry's sets reflect his acceptance of all styles of cutting edge music. Coming to Avalon for one his first East Coast appearances, this is a unique chance to catch a true revolutionary in an intimate setting. Friday March 22nd Dj TiestoAlthough his remix of Delerium and Sarah McLachlan's "The Silence" was one of the first house tracks ever played on daytime radio in North America, Tiesto has only recently begun appearing in America as a DJ. Known for his high-energy and aggressive trance style, his sets have been in high demand in Europe for years. Finally touring the states on a frequent basis, America now has a chance to witness the DJ recently voted the 6th best in the world. After consistent requests over the last year, we are glad to finally have Tiesto at Avaland for his Boston debut. John Acquaviva John Acquaviva is known both as one half of the seminal Plus 8 label (with partner Richie Hawtin), and one of the world's most respected DJ's. Combining a unique blend of house and techno, as well as the occassional disco or 80's classic, John's style stands apart from the rest while still maintaining mass appeal for the casual club goer. His worldwide tour schedule is one of the busiest in the business, and his sets always result in rave reviews.
