Since some of you guys have been downloading music for a long time, and since I only have a phone connection at home, and I dont want to spend 6 hrs downloading a set or CD just to find out its crap...pleale, please, please, please..pretty please, help good ole' Vic on this...what are some good sets worthwhile downloading?

I just cant believe how fast the damn thing downloads when you have a fast internet connection...a couple of more months until I move into a new place I will get a fast internet connection.

I've grabbed a couple of sets from Shady on Audiogalaxy. The two part Satoshi live at Liquid and Sasha and Diggers on MTV NYE 2002. Both are worth the d/l, but they're really big. The S&D set had to be split to fit on two cds. I used the program mentioned in the other thread by joeygk. Worked great.

Almost forgot, also d/l Scott Henry, Live at Starscape '99, also really good.

OK someone may have asked this before, but I'm too lazy to go back and find the thread.

What are some good site to download music, stuff like KissFM sets, live sets from various places, etc. Reason I'm asking is I just got a 60GB harddrive and CD burner and have cable modem and want some decent music. I buy CD's like every week, but I love live sets too!!!! I know you all use audiogalaxy, is it good? What about Winmx?? I really don't want to surn my home computer into a part of a server like napster and stuff... don't want someone else pulling on my download speed, I hate sharing bandwidth with people!!! SO let me know!!

I like AG. You have to d/l their d/l utility (satellite) and you control it all from their website. The free version does contain adware, so be sure to get Ad Aware from

http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10106-108-63806.html

to keep your PC free of all the crap. I'm avoiding Kazaa and Grokster cause they're full of adware, and spyware that even Ad Aware can't completely clean out. I'm taking a wait and see on the new Morpheus when that finally is released.

Check out the crap Kazaa is secretly putting on your HD if you use it:

Like you have to ask: Tom Stephan Essential Mix from last October.

Victor Calderone's essential mix live from the Tribal Sessions last year is a non-stop dance fest (although a lil' heavy on the cheezy anthems). Danny Howells live from Renaissance Ibiza is stupid good too. Danny Tenaglia 'back to basics' disc 2 is really good, a ton of tracks I've never heard before.

*Also: Layo & Bushwaka essential mix and Craig Richards- world dj day- live from Fabric.

Yo Vic!!

Here is what I think we should do for those of us with dial-up modems. I currently have around 10G of mp3's and am still downloading, I stay logged on when I go to work, and when I go to sleep. It has taken me about two months to get the 10G's of music but I think/know it's worth it. But I copied almost all of my mp3's to a cd's and have them for just in case I get that FATAL virus that whipes me clean again. (I lost 18G's in oct) But I am willing to burn them again cause it wonly takes around 20 cd's and at a 16x burner I could do it in two to three days just playing around. But, however, I would need some mp3's in change. and once you copy them onto your computer you can pass them around to wwho ever wants them.

sounds like an idea, exchanging CD's...yeah, I've been downloading when I go to sleep at night, but this past week it was diffficult since I usually go to bed early and one of my roomates was staying up until 1 or logged on looking for jobs and shit...in the morning is also a good idea, but I leave first and dont know if any of my roomates might use the computer before they leave, but the Cd exchange is very good idea.

Yeah I know it's a good idea. I did come up with it didn't I. But why don't youtell your roomies to logyou back on to AG before they leave. I have also found out that it is MUCH faster to only do one at a time than two. With downloading just one song I get a DL rate of around 6000kb/s and when I download two each song is only at about 2000kb/s. So I can actually DL more songs if I do them one at a time.

from what I hear, Sasha & Digweed's most recent Essential mix was unreal. I think it's up on AG now, or will be in a few days. From the WMC. That's the one Vic is talking about, you can get it off of that DJmixes2k site he posted. But since you are the one whose asking for new sets, I don't know what to tell u....

Ok techie guys, can we use AG or AIM w/Aimster or something like that to let us share only between us CP folks. Not trying to be selfish or anything, but this saves our bandwidth for each other and we don't have to worry about anything malicious or bad files and stuff. Kinda like Shady's Groove Connection, but cutting out the non-members.

I think we can, with shady's case since he set it up, he decides who to let into the group and who not to let in, so we could just let each others in and reject anyother people we see fit..i think ,

Yeah but I think that when you chose a song from someones shared directory you can only DL that song from them. So if they go offline you can't DL. Now i could be wrong, becuase I have been know to be wrong twice before in my life and I think this may be one of them. But when I requested songs from shady and then he goes offline I can't DL. But if I search AG for that song it shows that it is available for DL.

I think with AG, everyone on AG can search for and d/l Shady's files, not just the members of his group. Anyone out there know?

hmm..i dunno, but then the freudian notion of who is on first comes into play. in essence, then why bother forming a group, or what are the advantages of forming a group, or what do group members get thatothers dont?

Shady can put files automatically into our queues so that when we log on, it will automatically d/l. I also think we can access each others files easier than if we weren't in the group, meaning we don't have to search as hard for the files. I'm sure there's got to be other advantages besides that, but I don't really know....

d/l the Sasha and Digweed Essential Mix last night. IT IS UNREAL. I listened to it last night, I'm listening to it right now, I'm going to listen to it until Sunday!

D2K is amazingly fast for d/l on broadband. I was freakin shocked at how quick it was.

hell yeah, i downloaded it at work, but my computer here has no CD-R drive so its useless, I just wanted to see how fast it would download with a fast connection. I think I downloaded the whole 8 parts in 10 min at the most...I'll get one of the computer geeks at work to download it for me tommorrow and I can give it a listen.
