  1. I haven't seen the new lights at Space, but just to be fair to the poor bloke running them.... 9 times out of 10 the newly installed lights in a nightclub don't look all that great for at least 2 weeks after they are installed. The reason for this is that it takes a couple of nights to get used to the new set up and write appropriate programs. As I said, "I haven't seen them" but give the guy/girl a chance.... BTW - this should bring back memories for some: OUCH MY RETINA!!!!
  2. This quite a nice Christmas present for me and many others who were put through hell with this clown. I am glad the truth is finally laid to rest! This news artical is taken from the Sun-Sentinel . Former Miami club owner given 27-year prison term for defrauding investors By Lisa J. Huriash Staff Writer Posted December 23 2003 South Florida residents said they were duped into believing they would either land coveted top jobs at or partnerships in a South Beach nightclub once linked to Madonna and other celebrities. Instead, most went bankrupt and two lost their homes, prosecutors said. State prosecutors put William Shaw, 38, of Miami back in state prison for violating probation by "committing an organized scheme to defraud" on Friday, when Broward Circuit Judge Ana Gardiner sentenced him to 27 years, the maximum allowed. Shaw, who briefly owned the club Liquid, had been out on probation after serving time in prison for a similar scheme. "It is apparent that the subject continues to be involved in criminal behavior," Lynette Herrera, Shaw's probation supervisor, wrote in a July 18 report. "This officer believes that if the probationer is released from custody he will continue to victimize others. I also believe he is a threat to the current victims as well as the community." In the latest scheme, prosecutors said Shaw stole the identities of some victims. With others, he lied by promising they wouldn't have to spend any money on their investment and he would pay off any sums he accumulated on their credit cards. To those who cooperated, Shaw promised a piece of South Beach's club Liquid, or top spots such as vice president of marketing, if they gave personal information that could be used on corporate records. Instead, he used the money to open credit cards and buy himself such things as cars, two personal watercraft, a motorcycle and a pony for his daughter. When one man tried to back out of the business, Shaw threatened him, according to state records. Shaw stole about $2 million from 25 victims between October 2001 and May 2002, according to state papers. Liquid went bankrupt and closed after less than a year under Shaw's ownership. Shaw "preys on people's trust and just bleeds them dry -- all for his own greed," said Deputy Chief Assistant Statewide Prosecutor James Cobb. "Billy Shaw now is sitting where he belongs, in prison." In the earlier scheme, Shaw was charged with racketeering, organized fraud and communications fraud, for convincing victims to obtain cash advances on their credit cards for bogus investments in auto detailing franchises. Shaw falsely promised to make all monthly payments. More than 25 unsuspecting investors from Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties -- most of them in their 20s and 30s -- lost a total of $1 million, prosecutors said. Arrested in 1997, Shaw was sentenced the next year to 51 months in prison. That eventually was reduced to 39 months in exchange for his testimony against his boss in the auto detailing franchise scheme. The boss, reputed to be a member of the Bonnano crime family, allegedly directed Shaw and others from his cell in Miami federal prison, federal agents said. Shaw was released from prison in October 2000 and sentenced to five years probation. He then bought and reopened Liquid, and in the process of raising investment capital, Shaw reverted to his previous credit card scheme, prosecutors said. Liquid is best known for its previous owner, Chris Paciello, the businessman who associated with Madonna and, federal prosecutors charged in 1999, used his connections with the Italian mob to terrorize competitors and control the city's nightlife. In October 2000 he pleaded guilty to robbery, racketeering and murder in a Brooklyn federal court. A plea bargain got him into the witness protection program. Lisa J. 3. O.k. I know this is a bit of a buzz kill, but.... How about writing something original? All this regurgitation of classic material is just a way to catch peoples attention with someone else's steam. I have never heard a remix of a classic song by The Police, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Cindi Lauper or anyone else that was better than the original. I can't even say that the reinterpretation was worth the listen. I have done remix work of older material (at the request of the original artist) and can honestly say that I found the process demeaning to the original production. Simply put..... You can't improve on perfection. Don't try! To me (at least) it is the equivalent to adding a few trees to a Picasso Painting. (people think trees are cool!!!) If your intention is to get famous on someone else's genius then I ask you, and maybe you should ask yourself.... Do you really have any talent? ******************* All of the above is not meant to insight a riot. I am just expressing an opinion. Flame me if you like, but I doubt I'll respond.
  4. Bravo to you Meng for contacting the promoter about this! Me calling Hallucination as far as I can tell would have been a bad idea because they are not the promoters of this event. I am glad because I could not get my head around the idea that Steve, Dave or Bunny would come up with an idea as deceptive as this. Thank you for contacting the promoter! I was at Grooveman with Bruce when he received the call. It cushioned the blow a little that they are at least following up their mistake. It does not change the fact that as far as I am concerned (and I do believe I speak for all of us) that the only way they can make this right or make this a "true" "Edge" event is to either retract any reference to Old School "Edge", over the "Edge" or Whatever and/or get some (if not all) of us involved in this party and any future "Edge" related events. It's a tricky situation. I am the first to admit that none of us own the rights to the name "The Edge". None of us would have a lawsuit to stand on if we wanted to fight this. That being said... It does not give anyone the right to take advantage of that fact. What is right is right. It's like if I changed my name to DJ Sasha. Yeah obviously I'm not him, I don't even play the same style of music, but my intensions as a DJ are the same so it's OK right? NOT! It is deceptive and could tarnish his reputation as a performer. If anybody should reap any benefit from milking the name "The Edge" it should be one of us. BTW - Notice that none of us are doing it. It would be fun to put the baseball cap on again and spin "New Jack", but it wouldn't be the same. It is a fond and wonderful memory and I think none of us want to see that memory spoiled. I don't care how good the entertainment is or how good the promoter is. This party will only serve to diminish that memory even if it is successful. You may disagree, but this is how I feel. I'm sorry if you feel it spoils your fun, but those years of my life can not be traded for anything. They are mine just like they are Bruce's, Jason's, Mike's, Thomas's, Tommy's, and Kenny's. Anyone trying to recreate those moments is stealing something from us. Kinda like stealing our childhood, and I will do whatever I have to do to protect them. Hope you can understand! Hope somebody makes this right! I am ready to admit that I have a little jading from being in this business so many years, but this is one of the lowest things I have ever been witness to. I'll say it again... I hope somebody makes this right!
  5. If the cat eats certain types of cheap (not sure which) cat food. The kind bought from a grocery store (usually dry food, but not always). Crystals can form in their urinary track. It is curable, but if not treated properly the cat will get bladder infections and ultimately die of kidney failure. This may or may not be what your cat has, but a trip to the vet is eminent. Go now!
  6. So What? What makes this an "Edge" event? Because it's in the same building? Next you'll be having a club "Ahzz" reunion without Kimball Collins, Stace Bass, or Dave Cannalte. I'm sorry to say that while "Rabbit and the Moon" have played many an "Edge" party they certainly do not represent the work that any of us did. Dj Icey was the head DJ and I was the head production coordinator over all three clubs (Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, and Jacksonville). At no time were any of the people representing this party employed by "The Edge". THIS IS NOT AN EDGE EVENT! You wanna have a "Rabbit in the Moon" Party? Cool! You wanna have a party at the "Chili Pepper"? Cool! You wanna call it an "Edge" party? NOT COOL! It seems pathetic to me that you guys feel that you need to steal something in order to be successful, as if the line-up wasn't enough to get people out you have to try to cash in on someone else's bank account. ********************** Here is an example.... I think I will become a painter/an artist..... I think I will change my name to "Andy Warhol". What do you think? You think people will buy my paintings? ********************** As for taking it up with Hallucination? Thanks that's a good idea. I was under the impression that I was addressing myself to a representative. It appears as though you represent nothing. For as much rallying as you do for Hallucination and for as much as you say they are "your boys"/"your friends" you sure do pass the buck when a little responsibility gets thrown your way. Is this a representation of who you are as a person? When you were a kid and your mom asked you to clean your room.... Did you say "It's not my house"?
  7. I am personally offended by this party! Exactly what does this have to do with "The Edge"? I hate to compare "The Edge" to other venues, especially ones with bigger reputations, but... The is like doing a "Sound Factory" party without Junior Vasquez. No Bruce Wilcox? No Mike Sharpe? No Daydreamin'? No Ken Coleman? No Thomas Penton (AKA - DJ PEZ)? These were the residence. The most well know of the local DJs who can call themselves residence. All of these people still DJ (yes even Bruce) and some of them even have decent careers. I don't know what you guys are thinking'! Did you even think to ask? You guys have no business doing this party and attaching "The Edge" name to it in any way!!!! There are so many people (myself included) who were part of this chapter in South Florida nightlife and whom you have conveniently left out. Bruce Wilcox, Jason Moore, and Myself were the promoters of that party. We started it, we built it from nothing to record breaking numbers, and when it started to die down we were out. Mike Sharpe took over from that point and breathed 2 more years into it's life span. I know you could have contacted Bruce, Mike, or myself about coordinating this party and giving it the credibility needed to truly call it an Edge event, but our phones never rang. I have NO PMs in my box! You know my roommate so you must know how to get hold of me, and everyone knows where Bruce works. THIS IS WEAK! Drew Bongiorno
  8. Oscar there is no shame in **any** religion. Buddhism Judaism Christianity Sikhism Confucianism Hinduism Taoism Islam Vodun Jainism Baha'i Faith Shinto **and my personal favorite** Druism (or Drewism - lol)..... to name a few. Who said anything about shame?

  10. No offence, but why Christian? I mean if you want to have a safe, non-alcoholic, non-drug-taking environment cool! Why would I want to mix my religion with my partying. Personally... I think your missing the whole point of electronic dance music culture. I think if you ask most people... it's not about what color you are, where you come from, how much money you have, or what religion you belong to. It's about coming together under one groove. JMHO! Good luck though! I'm sure it will be a lot of fun waiting around late at night/early in the morning for the non-Christians to show so you can convert them. BAH! I wonder what will be the door policy of this establishment? No SHIRT, No CRUCIFIX, No ENTRY! How about! Cover charge is $10 and 8 Hail Mary's ***NO EXCEPTIONS*** Or maybe! Free Holy Water and Communion hosts before 11pm!
