  3. A T-Quest and Progressive Minds Production in the spirit of 'Cosmic Couriers' invites you to ACCESS feat. Oblique Industries ‘eclectronica’ Friday 3rd of September 9pm - 4am Here is your access to cutting-edge progressive electronica with a variety of elements to dig deep into your mind, body & soul. Turn on, tune in, prog out on the first friday of every month with a psychedelic twist as we dive deep into Sydney's newest underground venue - TAO Lounge. Special guest live act: OBLIQUE INDUSTRIES - Oh-One Records Oblique Industries was formed by talented musician/composer Ryan Schofield in 2001 after being hypnotically drawn to the Australian electronic music scene after years performing in various rock bands around Melbourne. Oblique Industries’ combination of organic instruments including percussion, voice and cello with electronic synths, samplers and drum machines, together with an electric onstage energy, allow his performances to create a unique fusion of sound and visual style. Ryan somewhat mischievously explains his music as ‘eclectic electronica’ or ‘eclectronica’ - incorporating everything from minimal to electro, tech, house and progressive sounds. Oblique Industries has been compared to Trentemøller, Stephan Bodzin, Oliver Huntemann, Vitalic, Minilogue and Marc Romboy just to name a notable few. Organic, earthy tones to digital bleeps and squeaks - the upbeat to the downright nasty, Oblique Industries has crafted a sound as much to tantalize the mind as the body exploring the contrasts between light and dark, loud and soft, BIG and small… whilst delving deep into the spaces in between. http://www.myspace.com/obliqueindustries http://www.facebook.com/pages/Oblique-Industries/61404279079 DJS: Sasha (Deep Impressions), Ritchie Jay, Orphea, Fabeta INTRODUCING TAO LOUNGE: TAO Lounge is the perfect space for this intimate gathering with its state-of-the-art sound system, spring loaded dancefloor and sophisticated environment. 12. SUMMANIGHTS ARTIST BIOS: Sharam (Deep Dish) – USA As one half of the all-conquering Deep Dish duo alongside Ali “Dubfire†Shirazinia, Sharam Tayebi has reached heights that few DJ/Producers can only dream of. An artist of rare and exceptional talent, his DJ sets are famed for captivating club crowds from Miami to Ibiza, while his solo productions (including 2006’s monster hit ‘P.A.T.T (Party Al The Time)) continue to break new ground and consistently find their way into the CD wallets and record crates of the world’s DJing elite. From his acclaimed Global Underground compilation ‘Dubai’ and his highly anticipated forthcoming artist album ‘Get Wild’, to his daily duties looking after a trio of coveted co-owned labels with Ali (Yoshitoshi Recordings, Deep Dish Records and Shinichi Recordings); Sharam is a revered electronic music trendsetter that has stood the test of time and forges the future with every studio session he completes and every upfront tune he drops. Eddie Halliwell – UK There are very few DJs on the planet who inspire crowds of hedonistic punters to raucously chant their name before, during and after their sets … UK Trance legend is Eddie Halliwell is one of them. Championed by the dancefloor to become one of the biggest breakthrough DJ talents in the world, Eddie Halliwell’s rise to notoriety over the last few years has been equally as swift and impressive as it has been hard earned and well deserved. Possessing sublime technical skills and an uncanny ability to make dancefloors erupt across the globe, he’s a veteran of no less than seven BBC Radio One Essential Mixes, a regular fixture in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ poll and an even more popular fixture at Cream’s Amnesia residency in Ibiza … and this speaks nothing of his new, hotly anticipated DJing concept ‘ED-IT’. Josh Wink – USA Born and bred in Philadelphia and DJing since he was just 13 years of age, for the last two decades America’s Josh Wink has maintained his position as one of the world’s true pioneers of Techno, House and genre-blurring electronic music styles. The underground genius responsible for seminal tracks like ‘Higher State Of Consciousness’, ‘Liquid Summer’, ‘Don’t Laugh’ and ‘Have To Get Back’, the mastermind behind leading label ‘Ovum Recordings’, and a seasoned veteran of multiple artist albums (including most recently, ‘When A Banana Was Just A Banana’ in 2009); Josh Wink is a bonafide founding forefather of EDM as we know it today and, more importantly, one that has carved a unique niche for himself by passionately and relentlessly taking trends, making trends and breaking trends. Mark Knight – UK Plucked from the relative obscurity of life as a fully-fledged carpenter just a few short years ago, in 2009 UK DJ/Producer Mark Knight now commands a thriving EDM empire that comprises one of the world’s premier labels (‘Toolroom Records’), one of its finest and most extensive discographies, and one of its most successful DJs and Producers in recent times … himself! Championed worldwide for his high octane DJ sets that weave effortlessly in and out of genres to forge a sound that is distinctively his and his alone, Mark is an astute music collector and technically gifted performer whose skills are consistently in-demand in every corner of the world. As a Producer, however, he has few equals. Regularly called upon to remix the biggest names in the world and infamous for the consistently brilliant nature of his studio works (which include classics like ‘Insatiable’, ‘The Reason’ and ‘Just Trippin’), Mark Knight’s name has grown synonymous with quality, musicality and dancefloor accessibility. Under his watchful eye ‘Toolroom Records’ continues to grow from strength to strength and this year alone celebrated not only 100 releases but, impressively, wining the mantle of ‘The Most Downloaded Label’ in the coveted Beatport awards. Tom Novy – GER With a string of worldwide hits to his name, multiple TV appearances to his credit, several world-renowned club residencies under his belt and numerous underground anthems in his discography; it’s fair to say that Germany’s Tom Novy has influenced nearly every corner of the electronic music industry and landscape. A celebrated DJ equipped with over 18 years experience of playing the world’s leading venues, festivals and events, Tom first rose to global notoriety via his chart-topping tune ‘I House You’ back in 1995 and has since gone on to pen the anthemic likes of ‘Lovin’ U’, ‘Your Body’, ‘Pumpin’ and ‘Runaway’. With remixes for superstars like Ludacris, Erick Morillo, Tom Jones and The Backstreet Boys in his discography and an epic 12-year residency at Ibiza’s legendary Space on his resume, the notoriously fun-loving and cheerful prankster, Tom Novy, is just as the title of his 2006 artist album suggests: a superstar. Don Diablo – NED As a prolific and successful producer, insanely popular globetrotting DJ, intrepid label boss and the most Googled man in Holland in 2008; four-deck wizard and all-around dude, Don Diablo, is a gifted musician who’s clearly on the path to greatness. Renowned for writing tunes that top charts and get snaffled up by TV shows like ‘CSI: NY’ (and ad campaigns for films like ‘Snakes On A Plane’), and lauded for remixing enormous artists like Public Enemy, Kraak & Smaak and Laidback Luke; this flying Dutchman is currently producing part of UK rapper Example’s new album in between rocking gigs all over the planet and concentrating on his next album for Sony/BMG worldwide. Fresh, bold and spontaneous, Don Diablo’s DJ sets are famed for comprising a barrage of exclusive edits and bootlegs, and further championed for their frenetic energy, technical mastery and spur of the moment insanity. Menno de Jong – NED Hailed as the next challenger to the Dutch Trance throne, podcast pioneer Menno de Jong has fast become one of the genre’s genuine global heroes, innovators and inspirations. At just 24 years old, this exciting DJ and dynamic Production wunderkind has already stormed into the DJ Mag Top 100, toured over 25 countries, represented a who’s who of the planets biggest Trance brands (including Godskitchen, Cream, Sensation and Gatecrasher) and signed tunes (including the likes of ‘Guanxi’, ‘Magma’ and ‘Tundra’) to labels the ilk of Anjunabeats and Fundamental. Throw in the fact that this phenomenal young EDM talent is also the brains behind, and found of, seminal Trance label ‘Intuition’ and it’s easy to see why many tip the name ‘Menno de Jong’ to be headlining the world’s biggest booths and stages for decades to come. The Shapeshifters – UK Comprising the silky production talents of West London-based Simon Marlin and Max Reich, The Shapeshifters are esteemed purveyors of big room House who have released a steady string of Top Ten hits for coveted labels like Positiva and Defected. Bursting on the scene with their #1 classic ‘Lola’s Theme’ back in 2004, this dynamic duo have gone on to throw down signature club anthems the ilk of ‘Back To Basics’, ‘Incredible’, ‘Treadstone’ and a clever reworking of The Orb’s iconic ‘Chime’. Firm favourites on the world’s premier download site, Beatport, they’ve remixed legends like George Michael, Faithless, Christina Aguilera and Moby, and regularly tour the world delivering DJ sets of distinction – including those at their latest residency at Pacha, Ibiza and their very own ‘Nocturnal’ parties which they run alongside their distinguished label, ‘Nocturnal Grooves’. Evil Nine – UK With two full-length artist albums (‘You Can Be Special Too’ and ‘They Live’) to their credit, a sought-after ‘Fabric Live’ mix CD to their name, and a longstanding reputation for being one of Adam Freeland’s ‘Marine Parade’ imprint’s brightest artists, UK bass and beats duo, Evil Nine, have been tearing up dancefloors since 1998. Regularly citing ‘post punk, italio disco, electro, classic power ballads, techno, kraut rock, yacht rock, hip hop and 80’s electronic movie soundtracks’ as inspiration for their unique musical attributes, this powerful production partnership comprises the forward-thinking talents and studio panache of Tom Beaufoy and Pat Pardy, and has spawned remixes for superstars like Ian Brown, NASA and The Temper Trap, and original hits like ‘Restless’, ‘Pearl Shot’ and ‘Cakehole’. Sebastien Ledger - FRA Renowned for both his sublime production talents and carefully crafted DJ sets, French DJ/Producer Sebastien Leger is the mastermind responsible for huge club tunes like ‘Hit Girl’, ‘Hypnotized’ and ‘Aqualight’. A firm favourite with commercial and underground dancefloors alike, since 1999 he has knocked out remixes for a veritable who’s who of the musical landscape (including Justin Timberlake, Dannii Minogue, Duran Duran and Kylie Minogue), established his label ‘Mistakes Music’ as a n imprint to be reckoned with, and maintained a dizzying international touring schedule that has taken him into the booths of the world’s finest clubs and biggest festival stages. Casually blurring the genres between House, Tech House, Electro and Techno, Sebastien Leger is a wizard of the CDJs whose name is ultimately synonymous with hands in the air and raucous chants for “moreâ€! Nic Fanciulli - UK From humble beginning in the town of Maidstone in Kent, UK whiz-kid and 2007 Grammy nominee Nic Fanciulli has quickly and firmly established himself as one of EDM’s key players and most revered talents worldwide. Renowned for his skills in both the DJ booth and the studio, he’s a veteran of multiple acclaimed mix compilations for Renaissance and Global Underground, while his co-productions (as both ‘Skylark’ and ‘Buick Project’ alongside Andy Chatterley) and solo works have regularly achieved ‘Essential new tune’ status and been hammered by the world’s leading tastemakers over the last few years. His own label ‘Saved Records’ (which burst onto the scene in 2004) has played host to the likes of Zoo Brazil, Paolo Mojo, James Talk and Audiofly, and has earned a solid reputation as a steadfast seal of quality. With countless top shelf residencies to his credit and an international tour diary that reads like an airline pilot’s itinerary, Nic Fanciulli is a prodigious DJ and Producer who’s well on the way to achieving electronic music infamy long before many of those ten years his senior.

The Boombox is a colossal rectangular structure that houses the state-of-the-art DJ equipment. It also acts as a giant screen from which an astounding combination of lighting and visuals can be projected in perfect synchronization with the music. At over 16 meters wide, 8 meters high and 6 meters deep the structure combines next generation technology whilst marrying architecture with art. Revered uber-producers, their musical acumen has seen them become long-term favourites of the trance’s Big 5 DJs with their 3 hugely-received albums transporting anthems like ‘Body of Conflict’, ‘I Feel Wonderful’, ‘Analog Feel’, or the classics ‘Exploration of Space’ and Fire Wire to the dancefloor. As DJs, their kinetic, blood-pumping live performances are seen by hundreds of thousands of club and festival goers annually. Playing a 100 nights every year, it’s this ever-visible club presence that saw them reach their highest position to-date on the DJ Mag Top 100, landing at No.62 in 2008. Following a chance meeting at a label office in Cologne in late 1998, the pair collaborated for the first time. It’s a production partnership that has become one of the dance world’s most successful and memorable. In their homeland of Germany, they’ve maintained a consistent level of chart success, with no fewer than 7 Top 40 singles to their name and a Top 10 hit in the UK in 2001, with the quintessential club hit, Fire Wire. Drawing on a broad-range of their individual musical tastes and influences, they’ve continued to advance and enhance the sound… Following up the long-players ‘Rythm & Drums’ and ‘No More Sleep’, in 2006 they released ‘Earth Mover’, which saw a seismic shift towards a more melodic and electronically orientated music. Including the club hits ‘Analog Feel', ‘Should Have Known’ and ‘I Feel Wonderful’, the long-player was IDMA nominated for Best Album of 2007 and was latterly seen as a new ‘year one’ for Cosmic Gate. In 2009 Nic and Bossi are set to release their fourth studio album ‘Sign of the Times’, which contains 11 floor-monsters-in-waiting, last year’s vocal anthem ‘Body of Conflict’ and the latest smash single ‘Not Enough Time’, which in the words of Tiësto is “a great and solid vocal trancer that touches all your musical senses!†And in the broader scale on ‘Sign of the Times’ Armin van Buuren says “The new Cosmic Gate album is one of the most anticipated releases of this year. They are on the forefront of the dance music sound of the moment… Bring on 2009!†Over their production lifetime, the Cosmic Gate remixes have become almost as fêted as their productions. Essentially a blow by blow of trance music’s A-list, Nic and Bossi lent their studio know-how to productions by the likes of Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, John O Callaghan, Above & Beyond’s OceanLab project, Rank 1 and Blank & Jones. Most recently they rewired Deadmau5’s ‘Clockwork’ to devastating effect and created two highly-praised remixes of ‘Vincent De Moor - Fly Away’ and ‘Veracocha - Carte Blanche’. This month we feature BLANK & JONES: Blank & Jones is a Cologne, Germany based Trance duo, consisting of the members Jan Pieter Blank and Jaspa Jones. They have released eight albums and more than 16 singles since their first single release "Sunrise" in 1997. Piet Blank who recognized the great desire in him for music had his first experience in spinning a record on a turntable at age 16. Jaspa Jones, on the other hand, had his first experience as a DJ at age 19. Together with help from Andy Kaufhold (producer) they formed the trance production team Blank & Jones after meeting at the Popkomm music conference. Even though, they had been together for a few years, their first album, In the Mix, was a studio production that came out in 1999. As of 2008, thirteen of their singles have made it into the German Top 50, and three into the Top 20. Each album made the Top 50, including two which reached the Top Ten. Blank & Jones have teamed up with Robert Smith from The Cure, Anne Clark, Sarah McLachlan, Claudia Brücken from (Propaganda), and Delerium. They have also contributed to the Café del Mar compilation series and produced their own chill-out albums, Relax (the editions), In 2006 Blank & Jones and their long-standing production colleague Andy Kaufhold collated their finest material on one release, The Singles, which also included two new tracks. The album was also released in Limited Edition format, in which The Singles are complemented by a DVD, bringing together all Blank & Jones videos on one disc for the first time. They released their latest single entitled "Miracle Cure" on May 30, 2008 off their new studio album The Logic of Pleasure which is a collaboration with New Order's frontman Bernard Sumner. When asked about the key to their success, their response is: “We do everything digitally, on the basis of Final Scratch, which allows us to use our own edits and mixes, nothing comes straight from tape. Every set we play is unique, not only sound-wise but also in terms of what we play and how we play it. Roughly 60% of our set consists of our own repertoire, as where better to present our own material than via the DJ decks.†Check out some of their classic tracks: Catch (you if i can) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beGq8DWeGvc California Sunset Cream (Blank & Jones Remix) Mind of the Wonderful Blank & Jones perform at major festivals and raves in Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Russia. They also travel further afield on a regular basis, to Canada, Mexico, South America and Australia. Catch them behind the decks this year at Godskitchen: Boombox Tour Sydney. *** Don't forget to check out the group page for up-to-date ticket details, photos, videos, bios, free mini-mix downloads and more. This month we feature JES: Jes Brieden is a singer, songwriter and producer. Born and raised in New York City, she studied art and singing in an art school. In 2001, while she was working at a recording studio in LA, Jes met Mike Olson, and the two formed Guardians of the Earth. Songs they produced include Star Children and One Moon Circling. Star Children was included on Paul van Dyk's 2001 Ministry of Sound compilation The Politics of Dancing. Inspired by this new voice of herself, she began working with more DJs and producers. Her most well known works were created with Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden, known as Gabriel & Dresden. They formed the group Motorcycle, and its 2003 hit As the Rush Comes was a number one single on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart in 2004, where it also became the first year-end number one Dance Airplay track of the same year. As The Rush Comes gave Jes international exposure, which then allowed her to perform in larger venues and festivals. Since meeting Tiësto, Jes signed with his record label, Black Hole Recordings, and released her first solo album 'Disconnect'. She also graced Tiësto’s newest artist album Elements of Life with the song 'Everything' and continues to wow crowds as the opening artist for the Tiësto Worldwide Tour of Elements Of Life. Jes has also collaborated with DJs like D:Fuse, Deepsky and Solar Stone, producing tracks like Living The Dream, Ghost, and Like A Waterfall. The last appears on the internationally acclaimed DJ Tiësto’s In Search of Sunrise 4; her other songs "People Will Go" appears on In Search of Sunrise 5, "Imagination" on In Search of Sunrise 6, and an acoustic version of Imagination on Gabriel & Dresden's Bloom Album. Here are some of her featured tracks: As the Rush Comes (live) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAzsTWTzgao Like a Waterfall Imagination (Kaskade remix) Everything (Cosmic Gate Remix) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9EtvdKPsik Jes will be performing LIVE at Godskitchen Sydney 2009 with her live band. *** Details about GK T-shirts, GK Hoodies and CDs will be up very soon, so keep on the look out.
