  12. Amid an arsenal of flashing lights, mesmerizing pyrotechnics, ascending fireworks and pulsating beats, tens of thousands of people are singing at the top of their lungs to his classic productions and latest hits. They clamor to get as close to the stage as possible at a recent concert to get a better view of the man pulling the strings behind the decks. From Malaysia to Melbourne, Lebanon to Los Angeles, the scene is eerily similar, with dance music fans the world over experiencing the latest show of a living legend. Few DJs can inspire this level of pomp and furor. But then again, few have reached the levels of Ferry Corsten. It's easy to get hyperbolic and excessive when talking about DJs, but with dance music pioneer Ferry Corsten, whose musical productions and DJ sets have combined trance, house, and electro, the facts speak for themselves: Best Producer of the Year (Ericsson Music Awards). Best Trance DJ (Ibiza DJ Awards). And consistently voted as one of the Top 10 DJs in the world for almost a decade according to DJ Magazine. Since his immersion on the scene in the late 1990s, the Dutch musician has amassed best-selling albums, nearly a dozen gold singles, and countless other awards. Still, as longtime fans already know, Corsten has never been one to rest on his laurels. This DJ/producer, who has just toured with his Twice in A Blue Moon: The Experience show, has played to hundreds of thousands of fans across the globe and has been busier than ever strengthening the link between his own musical production and DJ show elements. Based on his last artist album of the same name (featuring the hugely successful singles "We Belong," "Radio Crash," and "Made of Love" and released on Corsten's own record label Flashover Recordings), the show is just the latest in a career that has melded influential productions with unprecedented live sets. In stark contrast to the typical DJ set that focuses solely on the DJ himself, Blue Moon's 6-hour plus set sees Corsten as only one part of a grand, visual production, bringing the crowd into the party instead of lecturing and dictating like so many of his peers. It's this humility and desire to interact with his fans which has helped propel Ferry Corsten as one of the most sought after DJs in music. A far cry from the usual arrogant spinner that preaches to his crowd from on high, Corsten has enacted a number of projects designed to get his fans as close to the man himself as possible. In 2007, the DJ began "Corsten's Countdown," a weekly radio show that sees Corsten highlighting his favorite new tracks by artists both known and unsigned. Keeping in line with his desire for full interaction with his audience, fans can vote on their favorite tracks each week, which determines Corsten's Countdown Chart, a Top 10 show at the end of each month. In addition, the recently released DVD Ferry Corsten ? Backstage follows the artist as he prepares for both the release of his last artist album and his annual legendary "Full On Ferry" event in Rotterdam. In addition, Corsten recently launched www.FerryCorstenVIP.com, one of the most extensive artist sites that allows subscribers exclusive content and unprecedented access into Corsten's life. It's a life that has been virtually raised on music. As a 9-year old kid growing up in Holland, Ferry Corsten became obsessed with both The Soul Show and Disco Mix Club, shows that specialized in club music and introduced Corsten to deejaying. Cut to the mid-1990s and a wildly prolific Corsten can be found producing two to three releases a week under a dizzying amount of aliases (System F, Gouryella) and record labels before starting Tsunami, his first imprint. His sixth release for the label, the trance anthem "Out of the Blue," went Top 20 in the U.K., sparked a massive bidding war for the producer and revolutionized dance music production. Since then, Corsten has remixed tracks from everyone from U2 to Moby to Public Enemy, released three albums under his own name and put out a myriad amount of compilations (Trance Nation, Passport) and singles under various guises. While the producer is best known for his trance classics, Corsten has also been known to push boundaries creatively and has always been keen to switch up his musical style when the mood hits him. The producer released 2006's L.E.F., an updated version of the classic electro Corsten loved growing up that earned the #1 spot on iTunes upon its release. 2010 is set to be one of Ferry Corsten's busiest years yet. In addition to an upcoming album celebrating the 10th anniversary of the ultimate trance anthem "System F: Out of the Blue," Corsten is busy preparing his latest compilation album with exclusive material and another full-length under his own name with an accompanying grand production tour set to kick off sometime next year. It's an ambitious schedule, but one in which Ferry Corsten has built his career on in past years. Someone who has had as many hits, rocked as many dance floors, produced so many classics, as Corsten would be forgiven for taking a hiatus and basking in the accolades. But there are still future classics to be made and people the world over to be entertained. And with a master who has already proven himself time and again running the show, the legend's career is just starting.

[phillip jung | get physical | berlin] matt tolfrey [leftroom | cocoon | uk] warm up: sanath & fisher [mnmlife | dc | boston] doors open at 9pm with open bar from 9pm-10pm afterhours at secret location tba with special guests 3am - ? **get on the guest list here** reduced entry until 11pm http://mnmlife.com/guestlist http://www.mnmlife.com http://www.myspace.com/getmandy http://www.myspace.com/matttolfrey the muse nightclub 717 6th street nw washington, dc http://www.museloungedc.com dress code: no hats or gangsta wear jeans and dark sneakers are ok m.a.n.d.y. the get physical story begins on a tennis court in saarbrücken, near the german-french border. that?s where patrick bodmer met philipp jung on a summer?s day twenty years ago. their lifelong friendship and musical partnership was sealed on their next meeting, at the high board of the local swimming baths. after many hours of discussion they were jumping, and were virtually brothers from then on. together they ran wild and wished for a life that could only be about their great loves - collecting records, throwing parties and meeting girls. they dreamt of a way to live as a child, running happy and free. when youthful desire had to make way for sensible adult concerns they parted ways. at 25 patrick and philipp were reunited in frankfurt, then the hub of germany?s flourishing house and techno scene. philipp worked for snap?s record company; patrick studied and lived as an artist. they began their first musical activities with releases on local independent imprints and devised their unofficial lust (eng: joy, zest, delight) parties as an excuse to play records. later patrick acquired an old brewery as an atelier that served as their cauldron for ideas, art and wanton personal experimentation. they stopped in 1997 and the final twang of traditional career values saw philipp move firstly to cologne as a&r of jive, and later to berlin to do the same job for v2. patrick finished studying before taking a sensible day job he quickly detested. over the next years they consumed music, raved and span records at every opportunity. dj t and patrik (the sunsetpeople), from frankfurt?s monza club, heard them play at a party and noticed them on the dancefloor, stamping their feet and ripping their clothes. they became close friends, and m.a.n.d.y. have held a monza residency since 2001. the same year their old pals arno and walter (booka shade) moved from saarbrücken to frankfurt. the four intensified their work together and again talked of starting a label. the first official m.a.n.d.y. release, a remix of french electronic band galleon, was chosen as the official german single and went stratospheric sales charts. dj work poured in but they couldn?t reconcile with the commercial scene and abandoned it after a few short months. m.a.n.d.y. liken their next moves to a last exit, a final chance to do something special before time ran away from them. they decided to create a label with their friends booka shade and dj t, utilising the talent of the close friends in their circle. they called it get physical: in tribute to the dancefloor; in memory of their meeting; for their love of disco, acknowledging the obsession with olivia newton-john. it was born from pure desire, the need to create something tangible from their lifelong passion. in 2002, m.a.n.d.y. and booka shade moved to berlin seeking a new creative kick. what they found was a confluence of artists and ideas, and a constant shower of music that washed over and immersed them. it was productive, intense and satisfying. living and working together their strong relationships provided the perfect foundation for future growth. since the creation of the label, m.a.n.d.y. have come into their own as artists and djs. their natural easy friendship allowed their skills to gradually flourish and their heartfelt excitement for what they do ignites every floor. mixing the first get physical label compilation in 2004 sent their sound beyond europe and they?re sought after remixers working with artists as diverse as the knife, seelenluft, the sugababes, hans peter lindstrom and fisherspooner. and though they travel the world they treasure the family vibe that supports them in berlin. for m.a.n.d.y. this isn?t a job and isn?t about success. it?s about partnership and friendship and a realisation that dreams can come true. matt tolfrey matt tolfrey is one of those individuals that you won?t forget. an energetic dj, talented producer and manager of the uk?s biggest break-through record label, leftroom, he?s not afraid to put his soul into his goals and his enthusiasm shines through. growing up in the middle east it wasn?t until he returned home that his career started in nottingham with residencies at the historic club the bomb and more recently at stealth. here in the heart of the city?s club culture is where he continues to hold a residency. this quickly led to regular slots at fabric and further afield in the usa and germany. always keen to experiment with new ideas and take risks he started the leftroom label in 2005 with his own productions beginning to see releases on reputable labels such as crosstown rebels. tolfrey sought after an avenue to release his peer?s music and open up opportunities for friends that he believed in. the first release was entitled ?the extended family ep? encapsulating the spirit of leftroom, a place where a core set of artists could grow and experiment with their sound. the leftroom family now consists of a few key artists now including marcashken, inxec, ed davenport and glimpse. after remarkable success with the first few releases and securing a home-grown and exceptional roster tolfrey was asked to commence a label night at t bar, london?s hub of creativity in the house and techno scene. hosting nights alongside those of andrew weatherall, ivan smagghe and craig richards allowed tolfrey to invite and play with friends and muses while sharing memorable dancefloor moments. as his plan to achieve global domination took firm root, two more sub-labels were born into the family. leftroom limited has the purpose of releasing peak-time records while leftout is a home for lesser known artists who deserve some attention. he also runs is this label and has proved his a&r capabilities are pin-point securing one of last year?s biggest tracks, ito & star?s suduko kid. alongside propelling three labels tolfrey also djs globally with notable gigs for sunday school for degenerates in miami, regular dates at fabric, mulletover in ibiza and watergate in berlin amongst many. his productions and remixes have been released on four:twenty, renaissance and ransom note and he has collaborated with marcashken, glimpse, craig sylvester, inxec and b-pole. his forthcoming collaboration project with marcashken as tash is destined to be a frontrunner.

  16. Fedde le Grand Fedde le Grand stands on the edge of global superstardom. Behind him lies a glittering career that includes worldwide number ones, packed arenas, throbbing dance floors, A-list collaborations and a raft of international awards. Just ahead – his first studio album called 'Output', setting the pace for what is already shaping up to be a fast track 2009. It could be said that Fedde came out of nowhere, riding off the success of a hit record. Well, let's set that record straight – you couldn't get further away from the truth. The truth is that his parties had been rocking the Netherlands since 2001 when he started to spin at the Danssalon in Eindhoven, one of Holland's finest clubs at those days, on Sundays for more than two years; Sneakerz is his own club night; his label Flamingo Recordings has been pushing its unique sound since 2004; and then in 2006 Put your hands up for Detroit happened. In fact 'happened' doesn't do what occurred justice – quite simply, it exploded. The track hit No 1 in the UK, Spain, Russia, Finland and Bulgaria; won Best Underground House Track and Best Breaks/Electro Track at the IMDA 2007, Club Banger Of The Year at the 6th Annual Club Awards in Miami 2008 and secured Fedde the fiercely fought over Best Breakthrough Solo Artist gong at the IMDA 2007.
