  3. From our days at the late great Louis XIV and Las Palmas to the current location NACIONAL, the Monday Social is the only place to be on a Monday night and is regarded as an ?institution? within the SoCal dance music community. In a town where the average life span of clubs is measured not in months but in weeks, the Monday Social has pulled off nothing less than a show business miracle, with an amazing run of more than 420 nights throughout Eight years of history, making it the longest-running night out in Los Angeles. Period. The secret of its? success is the distinct air of non-exclusivity, carefully cultivated by its creators and resident DJ / Promoters, the Bud Brothers, Freddy Be and Mick Cole. Originally established in June of 1996, the Monday Night Social quickly became a staple for underground dance culture combining the Sociability and hassle-free vibes of the bar scene with the musical and technical standards associated with clubs: world renowned dj?s, leftfield groovers and upfront party beats on a top of the line Turbo sound system. 11. Globally recognised as one of the most exciting, forward thinking and cutting edge producers on the scene, Chris Lake's rare ability to create tracks that fuse elements of house, electro and techno has not been lost on his fellow peers. His innovative productions continue to receive wave after wave of support from such luminaries that include Sasha, Danny Howells, Justin Robertson, Sander Kleinenberg and Carl Cox, whilst Pete Tong leads the way in championing the unique sound that has established Chris as one of the world's elite. An avid producer since 2001, Chris's breakthrough came in 2005. His tracks 'One Too Many' and 'Release' caught the attention of the world's press and A&R bosses, but it was the release of his smash hit 'Changes' that catapulted his name into the record boxes of DJs across the planet.'Changes' became Radio 1's 'Essential New Tune' twice, reaching number 27 in the national charts and picking up column inches in tabloid papers and magazines; turning the once underground buzzer into a worldwide hit. In 2006, Chris set up Rising Music as an outlet for his new productions. Rising swiftly became the benchmark for pure underground house - releases that included 'One Too Many', 'Fantasy' and 'Release' have set the standard, whilst Chris has also shown that his A&R head is amongst the best in the business by signing artists that include Sebastien Leger, Micky Slim and Deadmau5.Chris's success continued in 2007 with his track 'Carry Me Away' hitting the coveted number one spot on the USA Billboard Dance Chart, thus etching his name into the dance history books and propelling his US profile into the stratosphere. Further collaborations in 2007 with Deadmau5 on 'I thought inside out' and Sebastien Leger 'Word/Ghost' once again proved Chris's versatility in the studio, and with both productions hitting the Beatport Top spot, Chris continued to cement his status as one of the world's finest producers. And of course there is the small matter of Chris remixing some of the biggest names in the music scene. Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Mark Ronson, Lily Allen, Deadmau5 and the Rogue Traders are amongst some of the names to have received sublime workouts from Chris, and support has been immense; not only from Radio 1, but every major radio station around the world.Radio 1 has also allowed Chris to show his unrivalled ability in the art of DJ'ing. His Essential Mix in August 2007 was yet another defining step in his career as he unveiled two hours of sublime techno, electro and tech house to keep a worldwide audience of millions captivated. His mix was voted as one of the best since the inception of the Essential Mix series, and reminded everyone why Chris is at the top of his trade. 2008 has seen Chris's profile grow even bigger with his global DJ tours, top quality releases, and an eye for the new media world via his new Podcast series - the latter of which has made i-Tunes' 'new and notable' for the last three months. Meanwhile his stunning track 'Only One' taken from his One E.P has held its place in Beatport's Top 5 for more than two weeks, and is currently climbing the US and Australian dance charts faster than ever. His latest track doing the rounds is 'If you knew', a track Pete Tong reckons is "sounding like a cross between 'Changes' and the song 'Pjanoo' never had - conventional but huge... and we haven't had a song like this for a while."Chris shows no signs of slowing down, and with demand for his sound even higher than ever, you can be sure to see his name up in lights for many years to come.

  21. King Britt is a pioneer of all things soulful, rhythmically textured and melodically provocative. This Philadelphia native has found a way to escape the strictures of a single category of music by expressing his creations through deep house, hip-hop, broken beat, nu-jazz, funk and afro-tech. Whether it's film scoring for Hollywood, rocking a dancefloor in Tokyo or consulting for the leading urban lifestyle brands, there are no limits to what King Britt will do next. King began his career in music as E-Culture, producing the underground hit 12-inch, "Tribal Confusion (Strictly Rhythm, 1990)". After touring Europe's dance clubs, King became DJ for the Grammy award winning Digable Planets in 1992. As the wax poet for Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler, Doodlebug and Ladybug, the band changed the face of modern hip-hop by fusing skat-style jazz with lyrical, deep and soulful vocal flow. While touring the globe with Digable, King continued to develop his love of the dance music culture and made numerous appearances in house music clubs all over the world, setting the stage for his planetary DJ career. He continues to deliver performances as a house, hip-hop, funk and even 80's DJ, to adoring fans the world over. As a band leader and music director, King Britt heads up the Sylk130 collective. In the Fall of 2007, The Sylk130 collective brought back King's ten year Monday night residency at Philadelphia's legendary Sylk City venue. As producer and song-writer, King has released numerous full-length albums including the hip-hop odyssey "Adventures in Lo-Fi (BBE/Rapster Records 2002)," for the highly acclaimed BBE Records Beat Generation Series; "Cosmo Afrique (Karma Giraffe, 2003)," an LP of original Afro-Tech productions that features the vocal stylings of Soul II Soul's Wumni, Zap Mama and Diva Blue; "King Britt Presents Sister Gertrude Morgan(Ropeadope Records, 2005)," celebrating and reinterpreting the New Orleans gospel legend Sister Gertrude Morgan; and most recently "The Nova Dream Sequence (Compost, 2006)," a fusion of Kraftwerk-inspired techno and deep sexy house. As a remix producer, King has flipped and funked everyone from Macy Gray and Tori Amos to Yoko Ono and Femi Kuti. His remix of breakthrough artist Josh One's "Contemplation (5.1 Entertainment)" was nominated for the Dancestar Remix of the Year award, alongside remixes by Danny Tenaglia and Basement Jaxx. Within the last year he has completed remixes for the likes of Curtis Mayfiled, The Ojays, Gamble and Huff, Ben Watt, Dizzie Gilespie, Everything but the Girl and Digable Planets. Several collections of his remixes and original productions have been released including, under his "Scuba" moniker, "Hidden Treasures (Om Records, 2002),"a two-disk greatest hits compilation "This Is...King Britt (V2 UK, 2005)" and the fourth installment of Franciois Kevorkian's Deep and Sexy compilation series (Wave Music, 2007).In August 2007, King's first free jazz compilation, "King Britt Presents the Cosmic Lounge" will be released (!K7, 2007) As a composer and film music scorer, King Britt has created underscoreand interpretations for the forthcoming blockbuster, Miami Vice (Universal Pictures, 2006), directed by Michael Mann, as well as the National Park Service's civil rights film, Never Lose Sight of Freedom (US Dept of Interior, 2006) and most recently for two Rolex television and film advertisements.
