Phaeleh's last two long play releases on Afterglo records; 'Fallen Light' and 'The Cold In You' have cemented his position as one of the most exciting new producers to emerge from his home town; Bristol. 9. Velvet speakeasy proudly presents: aeroplane (eskimo recordings, belgium) * aeroplane in just a few years, vito de luca, the italian-belgian producer behind aeroplane, has established himself as party-starting dj, remixer du jour -with his spacious cosmic-disco remakes of grace jones (william’s blood), friendly fires (paris) and sebastien tellier (kilometer)- and, via his own keyboards riff-based melancholic beauties like caramellas, or my enemy, leader of the nu-disco and balearica scene. aeroplane’s debut album, we can’t fly, was an in-depth trip into the previously mentioned balearics with a big dose of aor and moroder-influenced disco, which was more a statement than an attempt to conquer dance floors, though the perfect remix cast did fill up for that job (the krays's remix of superstar, breakbot's remix of " without lies " or rex the dog remix of " my enemy ")* now that our appetites have been whetted by those brief, tantalising excursions, what delights await us for the long-haul flight?* as a dj, aeroplane has never been at the mercy of traditional bpms, and being free of “the dancefloor pressure†has given vito additional license to slow things down and look around, finding the perfect blend between club music, pop hooks, and spaced-out soundscapes. making your ass shake more than your fist pump, as his first " in flight entertainment " 100% exclusive compilation demonstrates. the start of vito’s own label aeropop will see many collaborations with big names and a fresh, exciting, variety of music come out, allowing vito to flex his classically trained musical muscles in all directions, just like his touring schedule.* prison garde* prison garde is the latest incarnation of electronic music monolith vaughn robert squire. a man of many monikers and creative outlets, with a well celebrated history that spans multiple eras and genres of music*(as megasoid, sixtoo, villain accelerate and s&n to name a few projects). he works as a barber by day. his nights are spent (as you would expect) expanding on his more well known life as a world-class dj, producer, remixer and live p.a. act. with almost 20 years of visible contributions to electronic music + an incredible track record for taste-making (designing for / a&ring / producing other artists on) some of the best labels and parties to emerge from north america, he is no stranger to the beat-driven-music thing, and the places where music meets design, industry, culture and craft.

  12. PAUL VAN DYK For more than two decades, the world has known Paul van Dyk as one of Germany's most successful musicians and as one of the ultimate superstars of electronic music. As an artist, DJ and producer, Paul has surpassed various milestones over the course of his career, including having sold more than 3.5 million albums and being twice voted the world's No.1 DJ. He has remixed the likes of Madonna, Justin Timberlake, U2 and Depeche Mode. Earning a Grammy nomination and accepting the “Order of Merit†from the state of Berlin are just two of Paul's numerous accomplishments and accolades for his talents. His sensational DJ sets attract expansive crowds on every continent. Not only does van Dyk fill the world's best-known venues, but every year he transforms New York's Central Park into a unique open-air festival. His solo, beach-side performance in Rio de Janeiro attracted over one million people, and in May, he took over London’s O2 Brixton Academy for a standout show, whetting the UK’s appetite for his forthcoming Summer festival appearances. Away from the world of music, Paul's extracurricular exploits are without comparison. He grew up in East Berlin and experienced a divided city first-handedly in the former GDR, then beheld such historical events as the of the fall of the Berlin wall and the city's re-unification. World leaders and a television audience of billions recently witnessed Paul's performance of his anthem "We Are One" at the German Reunification ceremony, reiterating his role as a unique ambassador for the dance music community. During his extensive travels, Paul has been both an established figure for the youth and also a musical ambassador for the re-united Germany. Closer to home – both geographically and personally – his social enterprise work in Berlin includes his charity Rückenwind, which has led to regular dialogue with Germany’s politicians and policy makers on diverse issues. Paul van Dyk is truly an exceptional figure.
