Just dropped what feels like $1.2 mill for S&D w/ Jimmy Van M Thanksgiving Eve tickets (some of which is going to a good cause so I guess it's aiiight) and absolutely refuse to be turned down for casual attire offenses. Those Cipriani chandeliers suggest black tie but I'd like to think otherwise. robert

Totally forgot about the Body&Soul party. Guarantee people will hang around for Danny Howell. It's going to be mad crowded. I'm schlepping in my own electric fan! rob

Barbara Tucker doing "Beautiful People" at Velvet (circa '95?). She got into a diva smackdown with the guy doing the lights who wouldn't turn them down so that her flashlight show could have full effect. When all was said and done Barbara got her way and it was all good. I think she did "Deep Down Inside" that night too. Classic. rob

It's amazing what you can create out of a concrete lot in Queens. The contrast of the wartime photos upstairs and the kiddie pools outside was something else. Can't think of a better way to close out a summer afternoon than to dance in a pseudo-sandbox to some chill, live tribal beats with nothing but smiling faces around you and a $3 Brooklyn Pilsner in hand. rob

Something that will lift the spirits after what's sure to be a melancholy show (in a good way). Shine, Opium Den, & Limelight are all being considered. Anywhere else? rob

Casbah in Taj Mahal is the only decent place in AC. If you get there after 12 be prepared to wait at least 1 1/2 hours on line (in which case they let you get stuff from the bar while you're waiting). rob

Too bad nobody was there to appreciate it. It's nice to have room to roam the floor, especially at Roxy...but not that much room. Smooth, funky house streamed out of the speakers all night. Hope more people give it a chance. rob

Anyone looking for a rich, cultural, party experience pack your bags and go to the Greek Islands. The small bars and clubs in Santorini had such a friendly vibe and were a nice warm-up for Mykonos. Got off the plane and headed straight for Paradise where at 4:30 in the afternoon, around 2000 people were going strong on top of the bars and on the beach setting the stage for The Full Moon Party with Bob Sinclair. Other highlights included Space (formerly Sabbio), Celebrities, and countless bars where bartenders were always generous with the shots. Didn't make it to Super Paradise, but that'll be something to look forward to (as well as the fact that the most beautiful looking people in the world are all in Mykonos in August). rob

I hope Danny shows this Friday. I remember on one occasion he was scheduled to play Vinyl on Friday and Miami that Sunday. He never showed at Vinyl that Friday. Worse case scenario you get a pretty solid back up d.j. I'd like to see Manny Ward & Mac make a return. rob
