  1. hehe, cool, I haven't been at this site for a while, I registered before a trip to new york, and I think I remember an even older design, with some kind of grey bricks..??....and of a club-overview with red links to the clubs ( .....by the way I was at the clubnyc-dj-talent show back in 98 ( or 99? ), and I've never heard of another one, 'cause I failed to meet the tape deadline, and I would have loved to spin there, was that a one-time-only-event ? )
  2. my top 5: 1. Carl Cox 2. Michael Mayer 3. Ricardo Villalobos 4. Kevin Saunderson 5. Umek
  3. hmmhm, I'd go for music selection ( 95 % ) cause you can start playing with your mix only if the records go really well together. by the way, what is programming in a dj context ? as for playing for the crowd or yourself, I have experienced that you should definitely play for yourself, that means do not buy records for the crowd, because then you will have no fun in playing them, but I always offer the crowd a classic "hit" once in a while to really get 'em moving ( richie hawtins orange minus for example ) and afterwards return to my style. its like the blues brothers at the country bar, they played one country hit and afterwards returned to blues, and everyone loved it all of a sudden ...
  4. hi torontotrance, jeff mills vs. derrick may would be fantastic! I'd also like to see: michael mayer vs. monika kruse dj hell vs. carl cox and last but not least sven väth vs. thomas schumacher !!!
  5. hi, user tokyo tracks - xlr 003 the x e.p. - umek - potential 011 zeta reticula e.p. - etrx 001 thomas schumacher - ficken rmx - bush 1059 ural 13 dictators - red stars e.p.
  6. are you talking about this 2 year old charts-trance-tune by schiller ?????????? [This message has been edited by stitch (edited 04-12-2001).]
  7. Hi, I agree on zombie nation, but just 'cause its been played a lot, it was the same with "knights of the jaguar" (UR 49), but actually after a while they will turn into classics, but its always sad to see good songs being overplayed in bad context (radio). I'd personally go for eiffel 65, too, but as you wouldn't hear it in a club over here, that doesn't count, so I'd have to go for the whitney houston - it's not right, but its ok rmx(?). heard that at the ohm, and thought *wow, is this the famous nyc nightlife ???* the mix I think of had all the vocals included, it was horrible, couldn't play that in a decent club over here, people would drag you away from the turntables )

  9. Hi, I am a 24 year old DJ from Hamburg, Germany, and I was wondering if there would be any chance of landing a small gig in chicago. I would love to find a chance to spin with a friend of mine from cologne. were spinning in germany, but haven't made a big name for ourselfs yet. We would like to do this just for fun, were spinning detroit/minimal/progessive techno, and we're very good at it, too´... if anyone would be interested, we will gladly send out minidiscs and tapes, so you could determine if the music would be the kind you like. we are not expecting to get paid big bucks for this, it would be for the fun of it, and you could have a night with pounding underground techno from europe ( no euro disco/techno ), but the hard stuff... thanks a lot, stitch
