A NEW LOOK MINISTRY OF SOUND RE-LAUNCHES 23rd/24th JANUARY – BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER! You may well have noticed that there is a mysterious gap in our January listings between the 1st and 23rd. This is not a mistake! We are in fact closing our beloved Ministry of Sound for a New Year facelift; for three intensive weeks a crack team of builders and architects will be taking over the Club to make big improvements to our courtyard (once finished it’ll be the best smoking area in London!), transform our entrance tunnel (we’re promising the ultimate welcoming experience) and create a fresh new dance space aptly named ‘LOFT’ upstairs in the old Lounge complete with a state of the art Martin Audio sound system. Over in The Box we’re upgrading the final peace in the puzzle - the processing side of our world famous soundsystem and plan to give the room’s lighting a complete overhaul with even more strobes, additional top of the range lasers and new truss layouts specifically designed to maximize the total visual impact on the dance floor. It’s gonna be AMAZING! Oh, and we forget to mention the 8 x Co2 effect heads over the dance floor, this will create a total white out in 2 seconds then clear with-in 4 seconds Nice!..... Ministry of Sound – Saturday Sessions – February highlights We start this February at Ministry of Sound exactly the same way we finished Jan: with another stormingly strong month, taking in the worlds DJ elite, every week. Headlining for Renaissance on the 7th, we are more than excited to see the iconic Sasha playing in our newly refurbished main room for a label that has nutured his talent from the beginning. Darren Emerson, Sebastien Leger and Rene Amesz are then back for the first Global Underground party of the year, launching GU036:Bogota_Darren Emerson, but also bold new venture and sub-label Nu Breed supporting dance music's rising stars. Jim Rivers, Anil Chawla and Marc Hughes appear in the Bar for the launch on the 14th. From one favourite residency to another, the mighty Toolroom Records return on the 21st with the Grammy Award winning Italian House DJ Benny Benassi, playing alongside Mark Knight and Radio 1 star Dave Spoon. Then lastly but by no means leastly, Pete Tong wraps up the month with Wonderland, joined by one half of Deep Dish, and technically impeccable Sharam. Defected Records 10th birthday brings House music to LIFE with an all star 5 piece band and legendary vocalists. Start of 10th anniversary world tour at the Ministry of Sound. Defected is 10 years old on Jan 24th. It is widely known as the label that brought many of clubland’s best remembered underground classics with unforgettable tracks such as; Cleptomainiacs ‘All I do’, Soulsearcher’s ‘I Can’t Get Enough’, Ferrer and Sydenham ‘Sandcastles’, Fish Go Deep ‘The Cure and the Cause’ and KOT ‘Finally’. But in true Defected style they have planned a party with a mahoosive twist, just like the 100th release celebrations back in 2005, house classics will be brought to life by a special 5 piece band. Some of Defected’s biggest releases will be sung and played LIVE by the original recording artists. House labels rarely showcase their tracks live so this really is a once in a lifetime chance to see these artists performing together. The main club event showcases Defected’s biggest line-up since Miami ‘08 with special guest appearances from premier recording artists and DJ’s including Bob Sinclar, Junior Jack & Kid Crème, the Shapeshifters and ATFC. With ATFC alone being crowned House artist of the year by Beatportal and the chance to hear MC Spike (JJ & KC’s legendary MC) you know this is a must see event. This is Defected Record’s most ambitious celebration tour to date with 10 parties planned in 10 major cities across the globe, starting right here in London at the Ministry of Sound. The tour takes place in Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Singapore and culminates at the opening party of Pacha Ibiza ‘09. There is a second tour planned for later in the year.
