  1. The Trainwreck - Lord G: Uncensored!!! BoomBoxGlobal.com Interview by Artie Cabrera 'DJ MuTT' 1.What is the origin of Lord G? the name and the man, discuss the breaking point and beyond...what put you on the map? The beginning was pretty much layed out in front of me as soon as I started to practice more and more the more opportunities came to me...!!! DJing for the NYC Famed Cafe Con Leche Parties basically launched my career from bedroom DJ to the nightclub mainroom DJ. We handled the capacity of thousands. 2.Describe your style and why it's tailored for you. My style is derived from and still holds a foundation of good ol' fashion HOUSE MUSIC and what I mean is if it sounds and feels good then it is good...!!! I mean you feel it in your heart and soul!! I LOVE drums, I"m spanish so expect nothing less from my sets to contain some rhythm and soul...!!! 3.How do you go about programming out a night? Programming a night is always a challenge It's not programming a night but more like stocking up with floor rocking wall shaking ass swinging pumping jams with rhythm and soul that will stay with a person for a long time... drunk, high or sober...!!! 4.Who are your influences as a DJ and/or Producer and how do you apply it to what you do? My influences were the first Latin house DJs I ever Knew, Roman Ricardo, Little Louie Vega, Junior Vasquez & David Morales as for producers I would say Louie Vega, David Morales, Quincy Jones, Sergio George and Rod Temperton. Obviously I like distinct styles from them all but thats me in a nut shell....!!!! 5.What can you say to someone who doesn't really know or hasn't seen the industry side of being a DJ? All I can say is have a strong belief in your GOD given talent whatever it may be and don't let anyone tell you you can't...!!! 6.What's a big misconception when it comes to DJs? The biggest misconception of being a DJ is that we are like Rock n Roll Stars ... thats bull, no one is like a Rockstar other than Rockstars themselves even they''ll tell you ...but there's nothing like a DJ...!!!! 7.What are your DJ pet peeves? To have a bossy tech guy that knows less than me about shit...!!! 8.What are DJ's 'do's and don'ts'?…tips and pointers. DJs do's And Don'ts DO- If u can mix If u can dance IF u can *&035;&! DON'T- If u can't mix If u can't dance If u can't *&035;&! 9.What's your most embarrassing DJ moment or strangest occurrence at a club? My most awkward moment came when I was playing in a big club in Europe and I lifted the needle off the record that was playing. I felt so embarrassed there was about 3000 people in the club and everyone just looked at me ...thankfully everyone laughed it off !! 10.Ever slept with anyone famous, semi-famous or could be mistaken to be famous? No one famous has ever had the pleasure...lol. or semi...lol...!!! 11.This last spot is for your shout outs, anything random, famous last words or plugs for parties, music or whatever you want. Just want to say to all those people that have ever lost something or someone they love... Appreciate what has been and prepare for what will be... GOD LOVES ALL HIS CHILDREN...!!! Children love your Father...!!! Love always... Lord G www.Myspace.com/LordGNycNY CHECK OUT BOOMBOXGLOBAL.COM FOR THE HOTTEST DJ MIXES!!
  2. MerrittQ&A – BoomBoxGlobal.com Interview By Artie Cabrera 'DJ MUTT' 1.What was your start off point and the progression that finally put you on the map? A party I did years ago with a friend called Sugar Babies pretty much put me on the map. It started off as an excuse for friends to get together and hang out on Mondays and grew into an East Village underground phenomenon that ended up being featured in The Village Voice, Paper and I.D. Magazine. 2.Your sound is very distinctive, what makes that so and how is it tailored for you? That's because I don't take the whole DJ thing or myself too seriously. It should be about having fun and about the music, not about stroking a DJ's inflated ego. The club scene treads a fine line between fantasy and reality, some people get too caught up in the fantasy aspects of it and think they're rock stars when the sad fact is, they're not. Once delusion sets in, things get dull pretty quick. I approach this with the attitude that it's a house party being held at my place and everyone's invited. I pay a great deal of attention to the crowd and make sure they're having a good time, same way that if I were throwing a party at home, I would want everyone to be having fun. I like having contact with my crowd, just as long as they don't get too crazy. In answer to your other question, my sound comes from the music that influenced me before I became a "DJ": a lot of non-dance music and alternative dance material like Yello, Cabaret Voltaire, Art of Noise, Grace Jones and Siouxsie and the Banshees mixed in with old-school Chicago House and Techno. 3.How do you go about programming out a night? I don't. I think things should be spontaneous. Once you "program" anything it becomes just as it sounds: mechanized and restricted. I don't have any DJ equipment at home and never practice either, the creative process should be organic. 4.Who are your influences as a DJ and/or Producer and how do you apply it to what you do? As far as dance music, my sister who was a party monster and would go out dancing every night, originally influenced me. She used to bring home whatever was hot in the clubs at the time (music wise that is) and had a huge vinyl collection, so I grew up listening to all this crazy stuff before I even knew what a club was. Eventually I began clubbing myself and would go to places like Red Zone to hear David Morales, Love Machine at The Underground and Mars, both for Larry T and Sound Factory (the original one), which at the time was a combination of Junior Vasquez and guest DJs. Then I would hit the record stores and buy two copies of anything that had a David Morales Red Zone Dub or a C&C Music Factory "Dub of Doom" on it. 5.What can you say to someone who doesn't really know or hasn't seen the industry side of being a DJ? The business has seen better days. I stay clear of all the drama, but I hear from a lot of the younger DJs trying to make a name for themselves that there's a lot of back-stabbing going on. Unfortunately club politics have taken the fun out of it, so anyone trying to get into the business should beware. 6.What's a big misconception when it comes to DJs and the lifestyle? I can only speak for myself, but I find people outside of the club business think I party all the time when in reality I probably go out less than the average person. That, plus they all think I get laid all the time. If only. 7.What are your DJ pet peeves? I don't have many. Every once in a while I come across a DJ booth which is not well equipped, but from years of doing this I've learned to just make the most of it. Of course if it's an incredibly bad set up, I'm not likely to return. Having the sound system function properly is more important than pretty decorations, club owners need to learn that. 8.What are DJ's 'do's and don'ts'?…tips and pointers. "Don't" ask too many DJ questions…just kidding. Going back to one of the first questions, I would say "don't" take yourself or the business too seriously. "Do" keep your day job. 9.What's your most embarrassing DJ moment or strangest occurrence at a club? I used to spin at Disco 2000 at Limelight, nothing is embarrassing or strange to me. I've seen A LOT in all the years I've been in this business, so I couldn't narrow it down to just one thing. You'll just have to wait for the book…or the movie. 10.How do you think the scene today differs from the scene from a decade ago?… for better or worse? What scene? I don't think you need to have been around a long time to agree that there's not much of a club scene left in New York City. Even friends from out of town who have haven't been here in a while are in shock of what it's become when they visit. Needless to say, we have no clubs left and the scene is more drug-driven than ever before. Not surprisingly, there's more of a "scene" outside the city these days. I had a blast in Connecticut recently and some friends and I had a great time one night in the Coney Island area. All these kids out there were listening to all this old-school techno and hard, underground beats. It reminded me of what the East Village used to be like. A lot of life. 11.So this doesn't come off like a negative reflection on the scene what are the good things about it? I guess that there are still some people left who like to go out for the music and to have fun. Plus I have come across a couple of up and coming DJs who have the right attitude and whose sound I enjoyed: Exacta, Young Cesare and Dave Rosario in particular, so there's hope. Maybe at some point the tide will turn. 12.This last spot is for your shout outs, anything random, famous last words or plugs for parties, music or whatever you want. Famous last words? What is this, The Alamo? Without sounding like a cliché, I really would like to thank all the people who come out and support me when I spin, their energy and love are what inspires and motivates me above anything else. www.Myspace.com/MerrittX CHECK OUT BOOMBOXGLOBAL FOR THE HOTTEST DJ MIXES!!

At Guesthouse I will be playing alongside friends I've always truly believed in and admired...I hope you can all make it Friday and enjoy yourselves so one day I can be a famous person too..Dj..Producer..Rockstar..or one of those useless celebrities who make sex tapes of themselves..Love ya! ..See ya Soon!!! for a listen to the track visit: www.myspace.com/artiecabrera =)

  18. Come join me as I shake up the Lemon Tree tonight Ladies free all night....12 am and up. .. Located at 80-12 51st ave off of Queens Blvd. . (No its not a haircutting salon fuckers...So don't even start!..lol) Lemonade
  19. Ehh...people usually ask me what a record is and I just tell them because ultimately I don't care, it's not a big deal to me...lol..It's only when another Dj pulls out a pen and pad and starts going through my records that I'll start caring (and it's actually happened)..a Dj is only as good as the music that gets put out so producers do need a little more credit and if you're a Dj who puts out your own music more power to you..(most of the time that's not the case) and some Dj's want to play the whole secrecy game for whatever reason whether it's insecurity or just for the sake of wanting to be fierce *ack*...whatever, music belongs to everyone...keeping it locked away up your own a** for no one else to enjoy sometimes is ridiculous to me... p.s. MERRY XMAS M

  22. Leave it to Silverbull to be Deputy Downer once again..lol..just kidding. =) 'give me a 909 kick at 140 beats per minute any day'
  23. I have to admit first coming into the 'dance' scene I wasn't a big fan of it because I was involved in an entire different scene prior to the success of my best friends Alex and Leo..I would normally tag along and hang out and didn't think much of anything even the music until I heard a couple of tracks by some guy named 'JohnnyVicious'...and that is when I began to inquire about tracks particularly 'Rain' and 'Let's go all the way' which were officially my first 2 purchased records...by JV...since then I made it a point to pick everything up that came out under his name....pursued being a Dj and the list goes on.... Today I am still a fan and also a 'friend' and am glad that someone of his calibre and status is stepping up to the plate and is here offering everyone a venue to come to..and it's not about ego,it's not about the paycheck because he's put a lot of himself hands on to bring this party to you...it's about the simple point of having a place to go to that is bare bones and about the music and without all the BS that goes on everywhere else...believe me I'm all about the gimmicks and the flash but it's great to have the intimacy sometimes especially when it comes to someone who's as tremendously talented as Vicious..so I think people should be more a little appreciative in that sense...because it's not going to cost an arm and a leg to get in and you're going to get to hear some unreal music.... this is as RAW as it gets.. I like it...peace

  25. Truth of the matter is this ..a couple of friends wanted to goof around on clubplanet using my account because all replies get redirected to my e-mail ( F'you if you don't believe it )..lol..someone on here wanted to be the classroom tattle-tale and try to blow my shit up .. the thread police of clubplanet ..I've been surfing through clubplanet for a fewyears and it's a stunt I could have tried to pull already .. I don't have a problem with self promotion, never have and never will .. I love spinning, whether I am good or not will be up to the individual's judgement but for those who never met me or probably never heard me play to call me out on something they have no clue about is just very poor taste of character .. because I show love for all the other dj's I'm friends with and show respect for the game whether you're trainwrecking in the bedroom or playing the mainfloor .. I don't hate on anyone 'till they hate on me first .. Laters...
