  1. i like diors and chanels. i really, really didn't like the over-jeweled dior sunglasses - i found them super tacky. then as a joke, i tried on a pair and i couldn't believe how well they fit my face. with no other companies besides these two can i put on any pair of sunglasses and they fit perfectly.

  2. i got caught on wall street blazing during my lunch break while i was an intern. i got a summons to go to court. i showed up, sat for like half an hour amongst drunk degenerates and homeless peeps until they called my number/case. my number was called, the judge looked at me and told me not to waste his time, and i and my charge was dismissed. i was also with a guy friend who was dismissed for the same charge. we also both had nothing on our records, it was a joke. as long as you show up you're fine. don't stress it, honestly. i'm a girl and i didn't even stress it.

  3. indeed, us asians are like light years ahead of folks when it comes down to the latest technology for hair. i started japanese/thermal straightening my hair awhile ago, and many of my non-asians friends never understood why an asian girl would need to get her hair straightened... but, some of us do.

digital perms can be found in virtually any asian hair salon. if you're in queens, all of the korean salons peppered throughout northern blvd stretching from flushing down to long island has digital perms.

as for the city, i'd go to k-town (32nd st) or head down to the east village japanese salons. you'll pay a lot more for it there. if you're in jerz, go to palisades park/fort lee.

  5. make sure you tip the person that washes your hair (if that's all they do, i tip them $5). then tip the person actually doing your hair at 20% or so.

so for $150 = $30 for the hairdresser, $5 for the shampoo girl

i got my hair straightened (japanese magic) and it was about $300. the tip i gave was like $60 and then another $10 for the girl shampoo/blow drying my hair. ugh! :(

  6. tag heuer and omega also have diamond encircled watches. i really don't like those, personally, particularly b/c i'm a pretty active (and clumsy) girl.

i have a tag heuer with diamonds on the inside... and i absolutely love it. the best splurge i made in 2003... :bigthumb: gotta love duty free shopping.

  7. i also agree that though there may be no direct permanent effect of a trip, be prepared for it to bring the worst and the ugly out of you and others that are doing it with you.

if anything, it also makes you very sensitive to your environment. my ex-bf had bad trips, and i'd trip badly with him. i thought i nearly lost my mind when i was doing it with him. many times, with most people, i notice that a lot of insecurities and deeply hidden memories start to surface.

please make sure you are around those that won't drive you nuts. literally. i think the key to a good trip is to keep yourself occupied. don't fucking sit around and discuss your feelings. it ain't e. have activities prepared. watch some cool cartoons, be outside and enjoying nature, but for the love of god do not sit in a living room and stare at each other.

  8. a friend of mine has a client who runs knitting mills, a lot of that shit they make for filenes basement, c21, tj max isnt even shit that would ever make it to the retail stores to begin with... they make crap exclusively for these discount bargain bin chains...

yea, you're definitely right about that. there's a lot of crap that is exclusively sent directly to bargain stores. however, there's still a lot of stuff that i see in the retail stores that are sold at century 21, sometimes even in the same season. not to say that i trust everything sold there, as i'm always weary before i make any purchase and make sure that i'm buying something b/c i like it, not b/c it's got a big ol' label on it. i don't care for that.

i just like a good deal, whether it's brand name or not.

  9. does neone kno what street their co-op store is on??

    co-op store?! um... barneys has a co-op line.. there's a co-op down by W18th + 7th Ave..

i'm not really sure what a century 21 co-op store is..
