this is a very interestin read I didn't realize that isreal had such a substantial black jewish population. This kinda makes me look at the isreali and palestinian conflict a little differnetly. I think it's funny that they would let in a pal to a club, a person that might want to kill them for thier ocupation. but won't let a black man in who has served in the army. It's something to think about.

no but you can not make policy on shit regarding religion. Such as mandatory prayer in public school. If all tax payers pay for somethin then they should not be subjected to beliefs that are not theirs.
Religion is different then most matters because it can not be proved one way or another. OUr country was set up so that state and religion were seperated.
you really should read your history and understand what separation of church and state really means. you're a liberal you should understand nuance. and please give me one example of someone being SUBJECTED to a belief that isn't theirs and if you want to talk about taxpayers being subject to beliefs what about the pro-life tax paying people or the anti-war tax paying people aren't they subject to beliefs as well? please give me one example of the president subjecting people to his belifes.

Quietly but with malice, OPEC cartel nations have been dumping the U.S. dollar over the past three years, according to the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).
The dollar has been falling dramatically in recent years -- reaching new lows against the Euro and other currencies.

One key culprit may be OPEC states who have traditionally denominated their transactions in U.S. dollars -- but are now moving to the Euro in what the BIS says is a "subtle but noticeable" shift.
OPEC's actions may have been precipated by Sept. 11 and the Bush administation's "war on terrror" -- a war hotly opposed by almost all OPEC nations.
BIS data reveals that OPEC states have reduced their dollar deposits from 75 per cent in the third quarter of 2001 to 61.5 per cent today -- a fall of of some 13 percentage points.
"Since the third quarter of 2001, oil revenue seems to have been channeled increasingly into euro and other currency deposits," the bank said. "This shift out of U.S. dollars probably reflected to some extent the relative change in interest rates in the United States and the euro area since 1998."
The Financial Times also reported Monday that OPEC nations are also moving away from pricing oil in dollars.
The move away from the dollar could prove catastrophic for U.S. economic interests and bring to an end to more than a half century of dollar supremacy around the globe.
The FT suggested the shift by OPEC was due to "private Middle East investors" who are "worried about the prospect of US-held assets being frozen as part of the war on terror, leading to accelerated dollar-selling after the re-election of President George W. Bush."
Hans Redeker, global head of foreign exchange strategy at the French bank BNP Paribas, blamed the U.S. Patriot Act.
"If you trade with what the US regards as a 'dodgy' bank, you are at risk of your assets in the US being frozen," he said. "After the re-election of George Bush, the Middle East started to sell dollars like crazy due to the fears of assets being frozen."
The effect of the move away from the dollar has left the U.S. financial interests with a black eye.
Critics of the European Union have suggested that the introduction of the common currency known as the Euro was an effort to weaken the dollar's supremacy and to steal the OPEC account from the U.S. dollar.
These claims may be justified with the latest data from the Bank for International Settlements.
I think this just highlights how the US NEEDS to be a leader is alternative energy technology. Fuck the French Fuck the Germans and Fuck the ARABS

Whether you like it or not Religion is a BIG part of this country and the belief in God and freedom was the north star the brought the pilgrims here and founded out republic. The fact is that The president never overtly stated that he governs a certain way because of any explicit religious quote. But governs and Leads his own life by the LESSONS taught in the bible along with every other holy book known to man. By your logic NOTHING that is taught in the bible should be used to guide public policy.

The problem with the bible is that is it is tw different texts with two different messages. These messages were also conveyed by two different mediums. The reason we are Christians is that we follow the New Testament, Jews follow the old testament or the torah. The old testament was passed on for generations by word of mouth originating from prophets who never actually talked to god they were told by an angel of the lord what to say to god's people. It's a 2000 year old game of telephone which was then writen down in hebrew then aramaic then Greek then latin then Middle english. Any good christian knows there are discrepancies in the old testament and I would even go as far as to say none of the things writen down in the entire bible are Actually the word of god EXECPT the beatitudes which were direct quotations from jesus teaching. It has been proven that certain dogma in the bible were created by the leaders of the time, which were priests, in order to protect the people from themselves and to solve problems. For example you're not supposed to eat pork according to the old testament and it has been proven the reason for this dogma is because people were getting sick. How do you get people to stop eating pork Tell them God deems the pig unclean.
In short Christianty doesn't take many teachings from the Old testament compared to the new testament. and any theologian would stress the fact that these words from the old testament have been distorted by time and we should take the spirit of what these words say to each person as religion is a personal journey. Basically what Im trying to say is The bible at the very least is a philosphy open to interpretation and is an Amallgum of works inspired by god.

The US dollar wouldn't take any more of a hit that anyother time. if the chinese stopped pegging thier currency then their manufacturing and exports would take a hit which would help US exports and would close the trade deficit.
