What's his website again? Had it bookmarked at one point, but I lost it whilst reformatting my hard drive...........

I love Tiesto -- his "Live @ Energy 2000" and, more recently, his set at Club Eau are amazing. I thought he put on a subpar perfomance when he came to the US and spun at Limelight in March 2001........... but hopefully he'll do better if/when he comes around next time.

The World actually isn't a bad space at all -- it's not necessarily ideal, since the main dance floor is rather small. But I was there for the Tsunami Hallucinogen/Infected Mushroom show a few months back, and that was awesome -- they did a great job in creating a chill-out room, had steamed chai and free fruit, and the place was rather nicely decorated. Of course, that might have been attributed to the Tsunami decorators themselves..... but the point is, just because it's "The World" doesn't mean it absolutely has to suck.

  2. Roxy is the most beautiful club I've seen in NYC, bar none. I was there for BT / Hooverphonic before......... the chill-out area is so damn badass, it's not even funny. And Sandra / Graham? Forget about it....... I'll be doing my very best impression of a whirling Turkish dervish next Friday. :)

  3. Apparently (John?) Creamer was there, too........ I had a great time, though. Kinda looked like a doofus when I fell down whilst dancing, but it was downstairs, so only 10 people saw me make an arse of myself. Felt like a really short night............

Why go to a strip club and pay perfectly good money to see boobies, when you can walk down 6th in midtown on a warm summer day and see some of the most amazing women here on this planet?

In the spirit of "Chasing Amy", I offer you only one word of advice -- "fingercuffs".

  6. Do what my roomies and I did sophomore year in college:

    1) Get speakers. Preferably ones that can toss out bass like a muthaphucka.

    2) Place speakers face-down on the floor, or facing the wall nearest the offending persons.

    3) Crank the speakers as high as they'll go -- make sure the power's off, though.

    4) Turn the power on, lock the door and RUN.

    5) Stay overnight at a friend's place.

We did this just to be pricks, mind you...... but if you put the speaker face-down on the floor, you'll have something that closely resembles an alibi (speaker fell down, hit the power button, oops). If you want to make it more believable, scatter crap all over the place -- makes it look more like an accident (as if stuff was stacked on top of the speakers).

Heheheh. Glad to hear it.... I think Artful and EzD are two of the other DBZ affectionados in the hizzouse. It's my favorite anime series thus far, and I love my little pissed off namesake's antics. smile.gif Gotta watch out for 'Toon Network, though.... it'll suck time right off of the clock!

BTW, what is the disturbing trend with the oldtimers here? I'm noticing a lot of lurking and not posting...any reason why? Is there a lot of BS goin' on?

Eh. Lots of stupid-ass drama, unbelievably frivolous posting and whatnot..... a lot of the subject matter doesn't interest me in the least. I don't give a damn who can out-glowstick who, or who can outdance who..... and I certainly couldn't give a flying phuck about the pissing matches that ensue when people's egos get all riled up chatting about said skillz. As a wise man once said, "stfu and maintain"..........

  9. If I don't want people to actually call me, I select one of the last 4 digits of one of my numbers and add/subtract a random number from it. If I _do_ want somebody to get thru to me, I give em the cell......

  10. If yer stupid enough to start tossing gear at police, you deserve what you get. I'm not gonna wait to get hit by a bottle to find out that it's plastic and not glass, or visa versa, even. I'm gonna do what it takes to discourage your stupid, immature ass.

Not that the entire parade was characterized by such behavior, by any means. But people have a tendency to make broad and inaccurate generalizations based on the most extreme types of behavior observed within a group. In this case, it's pretty easy to say "the Puerto Ricans caused trouble" -- which is wrong. A better way of putting it would be "some stupid sods, some of who just happened to be Puerto Rican, caused trouble".

But hey, don't let reason get in the way of good ol', time-honored drama here on the board........ cwm3.gif

  11. The thigh abductor exercises -- where you either squeeze your legs inwards, or push outwards -- are really good for that. As far as butt / glutes go, I'm not so sure -- I'd be interested in hearing what people do for that. I've heard that the Stairmaster is a crock of shyt -- it puts too much stress on yer knees, or something like that. But I'd be interested in hearing what others have to say.........

  12. Hehehe. Yeah, I know I'm a few hours late..... but like Bourque's first Cup win, better late than never. I wish I could have been in either Boston or Denver last night -- it would have been utter mayhem, either way.

  13. It totally rocked, as I hoped it would -- the 2nd best party I've ever been to, in terms of my overall experience. I haven't been to The World during normal biz hours, but they really did a nice job of decorating and segmenting the place into discrete yet agreeable parts. The dance floor got packed, but there was always space to dance on the 2nd or 3rd tiers. Or way in back, by the TVs, if you were taking a breather (as I did a few times).

Infected Mushroom had some good tunes to share, but Hallucinogen ripped it apart -- hardcore banging psytrance, just the way I like it. And apparently he tossed in a few tidbits -- my buddy Tom said he noticed some Pink Floyd, among other things. All the peeps were cool, except the one girl who flipped and was tended to by security / staff, cuz she did "too much" (in her own words) of whatever she was doing. Water wasn't cheap (hot water only in bathrooms; $6/bottle), but the climate control was in effect there, so it wasn't too hard to self-regulate that kinda stuff. And when they started offering free strawberries and steamed chai....... heaven. Absolute heaven.

I'm hoping they host some quality talent there again -- I was really quite taken by it, and my expectations of the quality of the music was met / exceeded. Chalk another quality Tsunami party up........
