For all the dumb stupid or just plain wrong shit I've done in 23 years, I've never been caught for more than a speeding ticket (or 17 at last count. but who's counting?) If you do things bad right, and get out of them early you don't get caught - the person you handed off to does. Plus it helps to get connections with people higher up on the food chain.
