AIDS today in Africa is claiming more lives than the sum total of all wars, famines and floods and the ravages of such deadly diseases as malaria. We must act now for the sake of the world. AIDS is no longer [only] a disease, it is a human rights issue." Nelson Mandela, International Aids Conference - Paris 2003 + "Once you recognize the things you're most afraid of, and take responsibility for them, your power increases as you are consciously choosing your path. It's like walking with a gun. When you know you have the power to cause much destruction and choose not to hurt, that is a real choice. The organization helps musicians with serious medical conditions who are in financial need; and helps elderly musicians, regardless of medical conditions, who are having trouble making ends meet. Sweet Relief's grant committee is composed solely of musicians, who understand the health and financial sacrifices artists have to make in order to survive as artists. While not a polical lobbying organization, it believes an effective solution, that helps everyone, is the passage of a universal healthcare law.
