From my own experience it doesn't ruin the dvd player or the cd....It just won't play any of my copied cd's. Be careful with what dvd player you buy if you expect to play your cd's throught it. I know many of you, like me probably have a lot of burnt cd's and many dvd players that read cd's won't read them.
