1. on friday we're headed to Buzz for Judge Jules. Victor is organizing. Meet at the room you pay btw 10/:30 - 11:00. Sat is the Catacomb (gothic) at round 17th and L. Several of us are going to Starscape next week. Meet up details are on our Yahoo web site. meeting on Mon should be no more than an around an hour and not real formal - just a chance to see how people want to run the little club we've formed, plan events, etc. Its all done for the love and music and clubbing - come on along.
2. Hey Folks, I've written here before and now I'm back. Over the past several months a group of us have organized a little clubbing group. There are abt 50 e-mail menbers, 10 core and dedicated. We club every weekend, usual clubs Buzz, Red, Vicky's, 5 etc. We are having our first club organizational meeting on Mon Jun 4 at 7:00 at the Dutch Mill located on Indiana Ave, NW, btw 6th and 7th. Join us, help us fill our calendar, meet some fun fellow clubbers for Starscape, Area One, etc, get on our events e-mail list. Check out our web site (in its infancy) at http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/dcclubbersclub. (you have to join the Yahoo club - its free) Hope to see ya dancing soon Margie Feel free to e-mail me at largemargery@cs.com with questions.
3. Hey Clayborn, I am part of a gruop of pals who go out each weekend, specifically to check out new spots to dance and hear new DJ's. we run via e-mail list and someone takes a turn each week organizing the event and if you're interested you just show up. the e-mail that announces the weekend's event usually goes on on wed. we have abt 50 e-mail members, ten who are regulars. favorite haounts are Buzz, Red, Vickys's and we are going to Starscape, prob Area 1. if you wanna get on this list to know of our planned outings and join along, send me an e-mail at largemargery@cs.com cheers, margie
4. you may have better luck trying the districtsoul.com or capitolvibes.com sites. (I think capitol is spelled like that and not 'capital' - try 'em both)
5. I've never been to the Egde but hear it is grotty and decedent, but a good place to go when they have good music like tonight. This is a exploration trip as well as solid chance for good music and dance. It is located at 56 L St SE, Navy Yard Metro. $15.00 before midnight and $20.00 thereafter.
6. but if you could only arrive a day early or leave a day late, you could catch Pete Tong at Buzz on Friday night or Paul Oakenfold at Nation on Sunday night. Haven't yet started thinking about NEXT Saturday! The SPOT is always pretty good - sereval rooms with several differnet kinds of music.
7. I posted this last night but don't see it, so again, there are several of us going to the M3 production 'Come Dance With Me' party at the Egde on Sat night. Gene Farris is one of the big DJ's playing. Anyone is welcome to join us. Send me an e-mail at largemargery@cs.com and I'll give you details. Otherwise, look for the usual blonde pony tail there at the Egde. We'll get there 11:00-11:30. Margie
8. well to get on VIP at 5 you send an e-mail to VIPat5@aol.com. You must do it early in the week or you may not be on the list.
9. one time I got an e-mail invite to something at Platinium and you needed to send at e-mail to TheSHSgroup@aol.com to get on the VIP list. I did so but still was not on the list when I arrived!
10. Not that modest me is in the know about such things, but..... I do hear that Friday night at Bar Nun on U street is Goth night, called Bound. Real good Goth music. Sat at Enrico's on U St is 'swingers' night. Thursdays at the Cage (maybe called the Saint now?? is industrial/goth night. Finally, I have this old flyer for a Catacomb goth/industrial night, may be gay. Their web site is www.catacomb.org for your fantisizing: www.londonfetishscene.org
11. Hey Ya'll, The regular flock of us who check out a new club each weekend is going to the Spot on Friday night. Spot is at 932 F St, NW. We will meet between 11:00 - 11:15 outside the club at the front door. If we go in together I believe we will all be able to get in as VIP. Anyone is free to join us. We're a friendly crowd united by a love and interest in house, trance, and techno and great dancing. I will have a blone pony tail and red and gold top on (beneath my black leather jacket). Cheers, Margie
12. I would say the 'DJ..." book is essential reading. And on the topic of e-ssential reading, the book entitled 'Altered State - The Story of Esctasy Culture and Acid House' by Matthew Collin is about the whole rave scene in London and its connection to ecstasy - about how bringing the outdoor raves inside and 'accommodating' the non-alcoholic needs spawned all the fantastic London club scene. Both books are great.
13. Hey Paper Moon Marc, I may well be interested in coming to your club, along with a newly forming (but ever- expanding) clubbing club. I am not sure when we will make it to Paper Moon. But, for the future, is there a personal e-mail or phone I can call to get on your list? Many thanks, Margie
14. what music to my ears to hear about my old favorite London haunts. I was in London for the past three years and got to DC in Sept. Yea, guys would never think of taking off their shirts in a London club and the friendliness of the places is quite endearing. The old reserved Brits just blossom in the club scene with none of the macho or pretentious or subversive elements present. Yea, Fabric was great, I was also real partial to Heaven on a Fri night. Ministry of Sound was a 'must do' but nothing real special anymore although I hear they now have a UK-garage night in Sat. Home was good. China White was good, THE club just now, very difficult to get into, but the night I was there the music was sort of strange. Equinox, though touristy, was always decent (though not exciting) and Cafe de Paris had a crowd that was enjoyable to be around. tell me more...... going back soon??????
15. Hey All, Club GLOW was really really good on Sat night. DJ Taucher played such good trance that I have not heard in a long time and the bubbles and confetti added to the experience. Dragonfly - thanks for the tip of Elisa's number to get on the guest list . Real good way to take care of a fellow clubber and we were all quite happy about it.
