  1. Hiya, wanted to clear up abput Deep... (sixteen fifty)

It is actually a great venue, and coupled with what's coming out of the speakers sun. nights, probably one of my favorite places/ nights in LA...

It used to be a theater, so when you walk in there is a "foyer" sort of space with a small bar and areas for sitting. To the right is an even quieter semi-enclosed space , sort of a chill out room with a few couches and coffee tables....

Then there's the big room, wood, high ceilings, a bar running along one side and sofas, chairs and tables along the other side. The dance floor is large, the PA system is great, and there's even a smoking room in the back. No VIP areas, it's all open for everyone, people come to dance and they leave the Versace and the attitudes at the door...

  2. a little late, but I trust you all had a good turkey day, much to be thankful for, ears to listen to music, bodies to shake it with, friends, maybe it's a cheesy sentiment, but no matter where you're at fellow clubbers, there is DEFINITELY someone out there doing worse...

    and thanks to you all!!

  3. Thinking about checking out Chemistry tonight... anyone been there? How's the music/ crowd/ vibe?

And of course...Is there a last minute guestlist??

It's close, and it goes till 6am, so maybe I'll take my chances if I'm not standing outside for toooo long....

  4. San Diego should have a board, there is quite a good scene developing... I go down there often and I'm not surorised anymore at the talent that spins down there. Crowds are usually cool and ticket prices are almost always lower (saw sasha 4 hr set down there for ten bucks!)

    anyway, welcome, ls

  5. Gotta say that Digweed is looking good to me... I've always felt that the best dj's out there are only showcased in long sets where they can really use the swells and builds to their advantage, i.e., PVD with a 6 hour set is a no brainer, but playing an hour and a half, then Danny, i'm not so sure...

Ferry Corsten is great! Plays mostly euphoric trance, with a bit of house thrown in to funk it up, I'm definitely looking into that....

  6. Just wanted to say it was great to meet up with you Weyes and, as you said, put a face to the name... We all had a great time, and never having heard ECB before, didn't have the expectations you did. Leave it to say that the tunes grooved enough to keep our rumps shakin', and I always have a good time at Honey, positive vibe and all...

So the rest of youse gotta make yo badass selves be known, a'ight?? :direct:

I went up to Griffith park it was pretty cool...

...late Monday night in Europe and early Tuesday morning in the U.S., the Leonid meteor shower is predicted to be “the biggest natural fireworks display of the 21st century.” (L.A. Times)

  8. Actually, the Giant event will take place on Flower St. in downtown LA.

I live in Hollywood, and I was able to walk to the NYE event last year, which added to the incredible (and worry free) evening I had that night...

spundae's lineup (giant's competition) is still a little hazy right now, from what i understand. and digweed's people don't have him listed as being booked that night anywhere, but it's more likely than not that he'll be spinning somewhere.

So then Spundae is planning something... I presume closing Hollywood Blvd again is out though, cause I think we would've heard something by now...?

  10. weyes, I'm definitely interested in going... I have a couple of friends from out of town, actually friends of friends, okay, really I'm saddled with some folks who I don't even know but it's the whole "Hey I know someone in Hollywood, you can call them..." and I'm hoping that they'll be interested in going....

I guess further updates as events warrant...

But I DO want to go. Maybe I'll ditch them...

Speaking of which, and not to rub it in to the east coast fellas, but I can't believe how gorgeous today was...like a freakin' postcard!

  12. I was at NYU doing some grad research...in all fairness, I met some great people, and if NYU was in SoCal it would be a harder choice. It's not only the open spaces, beach and sunshine, it's the effect that has on everyone else as well. Ooof!! Winter term at NYU (did I mention it's supposed to be around eighty and sunny all weekend??)

  13. I'll grant you that... I guess my issue is when people are chronically late and then they say "oh, well, traffic."

Really? Traffic in LA? What a surprise! Maybe at some point you should start to figure that in to your driving time...

    Just a wee rant...

As an aside, it is true that others behavior flaws are always ascribed to an inward component, i.e., THEY are rude, an ass, etc, while your own shortcomings are usually due to external components, i.e. someone else did something to get you into a bad mood and that is why you acted that way-

Not for nothing, but I've attended both, and my vote is definitely UCLA... academics, diversity, oh, and that beach thing ; )
