  1. Saleen posted..."Not sure what's going on at Space"

First time and probably the last time you will ever be right regarding Space.

OK "Pacha" boy let me take you on a trip...

Suppose that you worked as hard as I did and that the all mighty Father was gracious enough to grace you with all that he has given me. Lets just say that for the past 30 years of your life you have worked your way up in the night club industry from a flyer distributor to a promoter to a marketing director to a bar back to a bartender to a front door man to a VIP host to a VIP manager to an assistant bar manager to a bar manager to a light jockey to a DJ to a sound and lighting designer to a club designer to a club contractor to a club owner to being the owner of one of the best clubs in the world. Then lets assume that you did this in 50 different clubs. Thru disco and punk and hip hop and funk and salsa and rap and all kinds of house and music that's crap.

Just imagine all the night club knowledge you would possess.

You still wouldn't have a clue as to "what's going on at Space."

    But you can keep guessing.

  2. It's your club so you should name it.

Space, Space34, 34, Venue34, Pacha...anything but ClubSpace (it's been done before), post what you think should be the new name of the club located at 34 NE 11 Street. I will go along with whatever you guys decide.

  4. I would like to thank all our customers for their support past and present. Your patronage has meant a lot to our business and employees. It has been our pleasure hosting you at both Club Space and Space 34. This Saturday will be the final Closing Party for Space34 with DJ Danny Tenaglia. Danny inaugurated both the old Club Space and the new Space 34 and it is only fair that he would be the one to do the final night of Space. Space will cease to exist after this last party on Saturday. However, we have future contracted DJ dates that we must respect including Judge Jules, Bad Boy Bill, Roger Sanchez, Gabriel and Dresden, Danny Howells, Sander K, Steve Lawler, Paul Van Dyk, and Deep Dish. These events will be hosted at our location but not under the Space 34 name. We are still negotiating with various entities for ownership of the club. In the meantime, the venue will remain open in order to protect the jobs and livelihood of our 150 employees and their families. These people are like family to me and I will not close our doors and leave them jobless. Please bear with us during this transition period as we pass on this great venue to the next owners. Once again thank you for your support.

  5. So this Humberto Guida who has written the "best place to roll on ecstacy" thing about Space (three times in 3 issues) in the New Times is being quoted by a writer (Shaley Fantz) of the Miami Herald in a drug law article that mentions Space34. Check out the 5th sentence on the link below. It says...''It is definitely viewed by people who love electronic music as unfair,'' said Miami Beach resident Humberto Guida, 24, a fan of the music.

Go ahead and tell me there isn't something going on here. I just did a quick search on the web for the guy's name and found it. Coincidence??? Or did someone not give him the royal vip media treatment at Space?

Or maybe someone or some club on the beach is stroking him with too much vip treatment?

Mr Guida should also be informed that not one pill of ecstacy was found at the 6 hour raid on Space34 and that Space34 and Club Space are two different clubs with 2 different owners. Club Space was the target of a 2 year investigation by the DEA and not Space34. Not one employee of Space34 was arrested for selling drugs at Space34. And that Mr. Guida is why Space34 is still open.

So please stop harrasing this stablishment and the livelyhood of our hard working employees.

  7. Back to the topic at hand...The fact is that we have to unite and fight for the right to party (legally). Night clubs aren't the only place in our society that drugs are being used illegally. In schools, at work, on the streets and even in government offices, illegal drug use is rampant and abundant. It affects every part of our society. Should we close down our public schools, place of employment and government offices also? The notion that this nations night clubs are the source of drug abuse in our society is a blanket statement that is nothing short of ludicrous. Listening to music and dancing is not a crime. The unconstitutional Amber Bill / Rave Act / Crack House Law is being used to shut down night clubs, concerts and public gatherings. Night clubs should not be blamed for the inefficiency of our nation to control the importation, distribution, sales and use of illegal drugs. Shutting down night clubs will not make or drug problems go away. Today it's your right to assemble in peace tomorrow...wake up and smell the oppression.

and that's all I have to say about that...for now.

See you all manana at Spacio34.

    Thank you for your support.

Get this straight malanga head. This is the greatest country in the world. I love this country. But I am not going to stand around and take it while we are stripped of our right to assemble, listen to music and dance. This is the simple comparison I was making.

 Here's an idea.... make sure your employees and partners obey the law.

My employees do obey the law. It's drug heads like you who are putting our clubs and music in danger.

    Come mierda.

i apologize if my post made it seem like space was closing this weekend. But i stand behind what i posted....

All I am saying is get some legal help and do some research before you post something that is so significant. Shutting down a club is not that easy. The Cameo (now Crobar), Level, Iguana Kendall and many other Miami clubs have been raided and never shut down. We are not getting shut down. However, that is not to say that we might not shut down ourselves due to all the negative media press and Big Brother having a hard on for night clubs and dance music. We don't need to be operating in this kind of hostile environment. My family left Cuba because of communism and this is begining to feel like it all over again.

Fight for your right to dance.
