  1. Dave, Thanks for your attention on this thread. I went to the site you listed before, and emailed them. Of course, I haven't heard anything back. I think it's safe to say I will avoid The World and MTV at all costs from here on out, and will do my best to spread the word. Maybe a bumper sticker that says, "FUCK THE WORLD"? Someone pointed out that The World did this last year also (listed acts who never played.) Amazing that they can keep getting away with that. Glad to hear at least some people had a good time at NYE!
  2. heh. Okay, normally I wouldn't want to have anything to do with an MTV party, but I was interested in several bands listed for that night, and $100 for multiple bands seemed like a good deal. Dave, I understand your point, but I seriously doubt MTV is gonna care if I complain. They'll claim that I didn't buy the ticket from them, so they won't do anything in terms of getting me $$ back or whatever. It's just like DSL in NYC. If you have a DSL line, and your ISP isn't Verizon, and the phone line goes down (as it does, quite often) Verizon won't give you the time of day if you try to talk to them. They force you to go through your ISP (which can take weeks) because they don't view you as their customer. If you say your site never listed those bands, then I guess I have to take your word for it, since I can't find those pages anymore to see either way. But really, when it comes down to it, someone misrepresented the billing, and as someone else pointed out, that's basically false advertising. I will try to take it up with MTV, but I doubt I get very far. Is there nothing Clubplanet can do?
  3. Nah, that would be too easy. Of course the tickets don't say anything other than MTV's NYE 2002 ball at The World. I'm sure this is how they cover their ass so no one can complain. Clubplanet has also removed all traces of the original web pages from their site. If you go that page now it just says We hope you had an enjoyable New Year's Eve 2001/2002. We'll see you again next year! I can't even find it from Google's cache. Very tricky. So I can't prove anything one way or the other at this point. I was hoping maybe some other people that were there last night would read this and back me up. However, several people that I talked to at the event last night all said that they were expecting lots of artists and were very disappointed. Some people paid between $375 and $1000!!! (Personally, I think that's silly, but I can imagine how upset they would have been.) Maybe this is MTV's fault. I don't know. Someone screwed up though, that's for sure.
  4. Interesting. So I guess by that logic I can start selling tickets for a show next week with a bunch of artists, and when they don't show up, I can just say, "Hey, if you'd paid attention to the news, you would have realized that none of those artists were playing that particular gig" and I'm off the hook. That's a pretty weak excuse. I bought tickets that listed specific artists. They didn't show. Why is this my fault?
  5. Shelled out $100 to go to the MTV NYE ball at The World. Was promised the following acts: Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, Ja Rule, Ashanti, P.O.D., Destiny's Child, O-Town, City High and Sum 41 Instead, we got to see Sum 41 perform 2 songs, watched two MTV idiots yell for a little while (couldn't understand anything they were saying, the sound was so poor) and then got treated to never-ending house music and probably some of the worst dancers I've ever seen on stage. (Allegedly "hot" chicks in lingerie who couldn't dance to save their lives; and one of them almost fell down when she tripped over her own feet. It was embarrasing for everyone.) No sign of Chemical Brothers or Crystal Method. Saw Ja Rule perform on the TV at MTV's main studio. No one else made an appearance. At about 12:10 am they decided it was all over and cleared the stage. We left at 1:30 or so. I haven't been this angry in a long time. If I wanted to go to a club with crappy house music, I could've gone to Exit or Sound Factory for far less cash. I also could have watched Ja Rule from my living room. Everyone there looked really bored, and most people were wondering what the hell happened, and why there were no artists. Guess I can't trust Clubplanet ever again. Thanks guys.
