  1. Music from the 80s is the shit. New Wave has got to be one of the best genres ever invented (I just don't know how they could take themselves so seriously). But is it just me or does anyone else hate freestyle?? Not only does it have little to no musical value, but how did it officially become the theme music of juiceheads and assholes? If I'm not mistaken, freestyle was originally a latin thing, no? Oh well, just felt like ranting. :D

    P.S. Blue Monday.....

I have not been in the area recently... do you know if it will be in the same building? did they rip it down? (I hope not!)

I was up there about a week ago and the building was still there. The For Sale sign was down too so this time the opening looks like it's for real...

Amen, my brotha. I was really feeling you when you dropped that. I couldn't help but look around and notice if anyone else was feeling it too or were too preoccupied with looking better than the person next to them. Friday night was my first time hearing you spin, and I thought you did a great job. Same goes for Bugout. Good shit bro.

    Amen, sister!

  5. As far as I'm concerned, hip-hop has been pretty much dead for a few years now. For a club to say they are playing hip-hop they should just tell people to turn on Hot 97. If a club/venue decides to have a night dedicated to hip-hop DJs (i.e. turntablists), that's cool. There's a lot to be learned from hip-hop. What was once a social voice has been turned into a corporate-drenched bragging festival. I think we as club goers should be less angry with the clubs for playing hip-hop than with the "DJs" who are spinning it. So to the DJs: try something new, explore hip-hop for what it's meant to be, hell, even trace its connection to techno (yes, it exists).

  6. Satellite radio seems like a great alternative, it just needs to be cheaper (give it some time). Internet radio is another great service that many people overlook. Get that while it's free... The bottom line is, when money becomes an issue, the quality decreases (in anything, obviously). When FM radio was started, it was free-form and devoid of corporate sponsordhip. Local DJs played anything and everything they were feeling or felt the people should hear (see College radio...). Radio was used as a way to get across a message. Now it is used to sell you something. The only time you're likely to hear good music on the radio is in the middle of the night when not many people listen (Liquid Todd) or when you pop a CD in.

  7. The reason you won't be hearing any good dance music, or good music in general on KTU is that they're owned by ClearChannel. This is the same corporation that owns z100 and hundreds of other stations around the country. This is the same corporation that pushes the use of recorded voice tracks instead of live DJs. This is also the same corporation that "decorates" America's highways with billboards. (Notice a trend?) ClearChannel is only out for making advertising revenue. Good music doesn't make money (but apparently a disco revival does...).

-Don't you dye your hair blonde?

    Why?

For you wouldnt "BEING YOURSELF" be the black hair that you were born with?

-There are shitloads of girls that either dye, or highlite their hair blonde around here - so why would you want to do it- wouldnt you want to "BE DIFFERENT and UNIQUE"?

I'm not trying to attack you or anything, but if you can do whatever the hell you want to look the way you want, then who the hell are you to say a guy is wrong for doing his hair a certain way, or juicin, or having a certain tattoo on his arm?

Uh-oh people, I think we have a guido on the board. Hide your women...

  9. House/dance/whatever music isn't dying, but changing. House is much different now than when it first started. Even the styles today are starting to become bored with themselves (hard house...). Techno is on its way out (I'll probably get abused for saying so). If ya want my 2 cents, the future of dance music (and possibly music in general) is drum n bass. Maybe not the way ya know it right now but in a different form.

  10. It's true that the Neptunes made repetitive beats in the beginning of their career, but they keep reinventing yourself. Listen to the NERD album for proof. And as far as "Grindin" goes, that beat represents the future of hip-hop-percussion driven beats with few instrumentation. It may sound crazy but just watch...
