Many people had beun interested in turnin da old warehouse downtown into a nighthouse. But it wasn't until Louis Puig saw da place & somethin fer real happened. He digd da place at once hand only a week afta he first saw it he bought it off da landlord (a local homeless guy who's bitch had died & figured da place was too big fer just one occupant. So Louis signed da papa napkin contract & da buildin was His... Louis had beun workin in da nighthouse business before he geezeraged to hit it off big time wif "Space 34". he had also beun in da restaurant business fer a long time hand he currently owned a house in da Grove, called da 609 (now called Life). In 609 Louis had a well talented DJ playing, a guy who is da pionea DJ - Roturf (also goes by da name Roly). Roturf or Roly (woteva his name is) started playin at Louis' house in 1990-sometin hand about two weeks before they opened up Space 34 they hired Roly as one hof da new houses two resident DJ's. da otha resident DJ was a guy called Edgar V or was it Oscar G?? For da Premia night hof da Space 34 da guys hired dis guy hand party promota named Biz Martinez to invite da "right" people fer da grhand opening. Biz got da job as da new house PR guru... Time went closa hand closa to da openin night, some 500 squillion-thoushand invitations went out hand people were workin day hand night to get da place ready in time, not to mention fumigatin da place against rats (those pesky lil' fockers). Thun sometime in April (me don't know me fergot & don't wanna burn da few braincells left to try & figure dis shit out) da house opened - da day was there. People were still workin in da house whun some hof da invited houseplaneteers started gatherin outside da house. hand about half an hour late da house opened up it's doors fer da first time. there wasn't geezery cpers enterin at dis "early" hour, but wivin a couple hof hours da place was crowded hand outside da doors it was chaos. Evun people wif invitations couldn't get in! Oscar G & Roturf were 2 hof da DJs playin dis openin night hand da first song Oscar played was "Dark Beat" by some guys who called emselves Murk.. Ivano was also da DJ playin da afterhours hand Roly played da Lunar Sessions hand Fridays. Oscar couldn't play da afterhours outside becuase he complained it was too hot. Since Oscar owned da most popular song in town - "Dark Beat" hand was playin it there on Saturdays, it became da biggest song in da wales, evun on Powa 96. It was also Roly who played da night hof da famous Biz Martinez birthday bash in Octoba 2002, in which Biz rode into da house on a white horse led by a naked body-painted playboy model (da one wif da fer real BIG tits). Roly also had so geezery memories from da old house Space dat it would take a whole book to tell it all, but whun he played da famous Birthday bash fer Biz it was probably his most precious memory. dat night was fer real a blast, he told me.
