Well Portugal in 2003 were in 8th place , behind Netherlands and Greece , and Russia who were in 9th were threatening to take over Portugals spot ... .. ... but the Uefa Cup , Champions League and this years Sporting accomplishement have added good points to our ranking coefficient ... .. ...and don't forget that in the past 2 years with the exception of this years PSV, ALKAMAAR and CSKA MOSCOW good runs in europe , they (russia and netherlands) havent done much in europe ... .. ... Hence portugals position nowadays
