  2. ================================== "RINSE CYCLE" - Volumes 1.1 & 1.2 2003 Winter Music Conference Compilation sponsored by Disc Continue & Break.Fast Productions - Atlanta, Georgia ================================== For the producers and performers behind electronic, hip-hop and dance music, the most important time of the year is almost upon us. Winter Music Conference. The time of year when all the "who's who" in the music industry make the trek to Miami to sign that next big talent, and those wanting to get noticed have a chance to show they have what it takes to compete on the professional level. For many of us, the love of the art of producing is what keeps us content spending countless hours in our studio's hammering out that next piece of our audio soul. But, I think it's also safe to say that there aren't many of us who would turn down an opportunity to get some recongition for the fruits of our creativity, and . . . God forbid . . . maybe eventually get paid a little for it too. Last year, Disc Continue sponsored "The Sounds Of Atlanta 2002", a Winter Music Conference sampler of original music from all Atlanta artists that was distributed at WMC 2002. 300 copies circulated at the convention in Miami, with a 100 more given away at a pre-conference cd release party. Even the local media's attention was caught by our 2002 endeavor, generating reviews and write-ups from Creative Loafing, and several web-based zines dedicated to the music industry, among others. Response at conference was more than favorable, with several spontaneous listening parties for the cd springing up at some of the top events in Miami Beach over the course of the conference, and the end result . . . several of the artist's tracks represented on the compilation getting licensing requests. This year, Disc Continue is taking our promotion to the next level. Our 2003 WMC compilation is called "Rinse Cycle", and is a double cd featuring innovative compositions from the forces driving electronic music production to new heights and uncharted territories. But just as equally, our compilation is a great opportunity for the music lover who either cannot afford to attend conference personally, does not have the means for putting together their own promotional package for WMC, would like to be part of a team effort , or maybe just would like for someone else to do the leg-work for them. So . . what are the details? Read below. -------------------------------------------------------- First off, some of the differences from the cd that we sponsored last year. This year's compilation will not be restricted to Atlanta artists, or requiring represented artists to be from any particular geographic region. While the majority of the artists represented will most likely be from Atlanta and the Southeast, this is not a limitation, and is open to anyone who wishes to participate(*). The total amount of cds distributed will more than double this year, with the compilation being offered as a double-pack and 200 extra cds being created for artist's comp issues and free give-away's at the cd release party, bringing the total number of cds created to 800, or 400 double-packs (only 300 individual cds last year). Also, the media attention generated, the cd release party, and the free cds given away at the debut event last year were add-on's and not something originally built into the package deal for participants. This year, write-ups and pre-conference press is already being secured for maximum exposure of this years sampler, and a cd release party is planned for the weeks immediately leading up to this years WMC with 100 cds slated for give-away at the debut. This year, Disc Continue will also implement several acceptance guidelines (please read below), and will be discriminating as to which tracks are included on the "Rinse Cycle" compilation, not going merely on a "first-come, first-served" basis, and rejecting entries that do not meet certain quality standards. Please note, there will be no fees incurred by artists whose tracks are not chosen for the "Rinse Cycle" compilation. A maximum of 27 entries will be considered for 18 open slots on the compilation cds, with 4 slots being reserved for Break.Fast entries (22 total slots for the two cds). That gives all applicants at worst a 66% chance of making the cut (an even greater percentage if less than 27 entries are received). All tracks that meet acceptance guidelines will then fill slots on the compilation according to a first-come, first-served basis (with tracks being grouped according to genre on the two separate cds), according to when the completed contract and deposit were received by Disc Continue. [* - Based on the acceptance guidelines. A panel of three professionals from different aspects of the music industry will chose the final inclusions based on various key factors including style, cleanliness, and quality of the overall production, among other discerning factors. No preferences will be given based on genre choice, and all styles are welcome.] What hasn't changed? The great deal being offered to musicians who don't have alot of loot to sink into a WMC compilation of their own, or don't have the money to make it to WMC this year but would still like to be represented. Not only that, but the opportunity to be part of a team effort to raise awareness for the represented artist's production/performance skills and musical ability, and the opportunity to have a team of professionals helping to promote you as an artist where it counts most. Ok . . here's what you get, and what's required of you to participate: ===================================== You Get: ------------------- - Your track included in this years "Rinse Cycle" WMC compilation, and distributed and promoted by Disc Continue and Break.Fast Productions. I will be handling this year's compilation from start to finish, along with other Disc Continue personnel who will be staying at the Radisson Deauville Resort, home of the 2003 Winter Music Conference, and prime central location for the distribution of promotional material. 600 cds will be distributed at WMC 2003, an additional 100 cds will be replicated for free giveaway at a pre-conference cd release party, and another 100 replicated for artists comp needs, bringing the total number of cds created to 800. Tracks will be grouped according to -like genres- on to two cds (i.e. - generally straight beat separated from broken beat). Each artist will receive 5 comp cds for their personal collection. Disc Continue agrees to compile all audio tracks and master for optimum volume and audio quality, include cd name and disclaimers with printed graphics on all replicated cd media, compile artist and track information for cd inserts and/or accompanying cd information sheet for use in promo packs, assemble cd and inserts in light-weight protective packaging, distribute finished product at Winter Music Conference in Miami FL, March 2003 actively promoting all the represented artists on the compilation. Some of the represented artists will have the opportinity to perform at the cd release for "Rinse Cycle" prior to WMC. Unfortunately, not all the artists can perform due to time constraints, so no guarantee's can be made as to who performs and who does not. What is required of you: ------------------------------- - Applicant agrees to provide audio track on cd media, in .wav or cd audio format, no more than 7 minutes 10 seconds in length. Audio should be superior in quality, with no pops, distortion or noticeable flaws. The final copy of the track must be received by Disc Continue no later than February 25, 2003. ** This is the deadline, no extensions will be granted, and all deposits will be forfeited if submissions are not received on time.** The fee for participating in this year's compilation is $110 per track (limit 1 track per applicant unless there are additional spaces at deadline time). The first 27 applicants to return a signed contract and check or money order for the deposit will be the individuals considered for inclusion in this years sampler. The deposit for the submissions equals 50% of total fee ($55), and the balance of the fee is due at deadline. After the limit has been reached, no more applicants will be considered until after deadline, and only then if empty slots remain. Applicants whose entries are in by deadline, but are denied inclusion based on acceptance guidelines will not be charged any fee, and all deposits will be returned. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I know this is alot to soak in . . . but . . if you step back to look at it all, you'll see that this is a very good deal and opportunity for the busy musician and those of us on a budget. Last year, there were friends of mine who had to be told no, because there just wasn't enough space to accomodate everyone. This year, we have more space, but we also have more interest in our project. Most of the slots on this year's compilation have been spoken for, but a few remain. So, please contact me directly if you might be interested in participating with us this year. Everyone else . . . we'll see you in Miami! Thankyou for your time.
