Nerve - #1 far and away the cleanest, clearest most powerful system in Miami, if not the entire USA (based on the size of the venue) - system is a custom "phazon" set up and designed by arguably the number one sound guy in the world Steve dash - based on the small size of the room, low ceilings & and the acoustics of the room this system is the favorite system of virtually every top DJ that has ever played @ nerve or even the DJ's have just stopped by for a visit...........even every major local DJ that has seen the system agrees off the record it blows away the sound in there own clubs...........they will rename nameless do to the south beach drama factor........... crobar is second for the same reasons as listed above for nerve - they to have a "phazon" which is a bigger system than the nerve system, but they have a much larger space to cover to do the massive size of the space and 60 foot ceilings (which is always a huge problem for sound guys maze is third fucktion one system is great, but not in the same league as a "phazon" and again they have a tough nut to crack with the size of the venue and the height of the ceilings - not enough low end space 34 good system and they have the same problems as all the other super clubs and that's is due the massive size of the venue and the ceiling height it is very hard and expensive to get the "proper" sound coverage - (mids and highs "rip through you both on the floor and the booth) although much better than the old space its very hard to get an u bias pool going really just based on the question of sound quality, most of the cp people are loyal to maze or to space (since most are on the payroll for either club) ..........it's like going to a bikini contest and the ugly chic wins since she has all her friends cheering for her, and for that reason this poll will never be close to accurate......but its fun to debate anyway !!!!!! top DJ - booths Nerve largest, most comfortable, best laid out, booth anywhere - complete w/ a 3-way cross to control bass, mids & highs in the booth separate from the dance floor - perfect lighting, and even has a refrigerator to give all the comforts of home space 34 even better than the old space old space blue room had a great booth crobar booth is great since they moved it - great interaction to the crowd - and easy access to the DJ's maze no DJ wants to play off the floor, that's why crobar moved there booth to the floor where it belongs - ask any DJ where he wants to play on the ceiling or the floor and you will see I'm right DJ monitors nerve - complete w/ a 3-way cross to control bass, mids & highs in the booth separate from the dance floor crobar - monitor system rocks maze - sounds very good space - system in booth to much highs for my taste Even though we are "nit picking" away at all these "GREAT" systems, please give all the owners, sound techs, & installers, mad props for hiring these people and spending the tremendous amount of money needed to bring these venues to life - all these systems are top notch and sound is somewhat a personal preference so let everyone have an opinion, what one person likes another person hates................. here are a few of the top 100 DJ's (in the world) that we have had at our club in the last three months, most of them played and a few of them just came to visit............every single one of these guys made major league positive statements about the phazon sound system - the entire list below plus guys like David morales, Timmy regisford, hector romero, Oscar g, stryke, cedric gervalis, shephan Luke, Juan meja, Jon cowan, jimmy T, Matt Martinez, and the list is endless of guys that want to play at our club BECAUSE OF THE BOOTH, THE SET UP, THE PHAZON SOUND AND THE VIBE OF THE CLUB...........and if they are unable to play because they have residencies at other clubs, that have all made positive comments on the sound..............but i guess these people have no idea what they are talking about right, hey lets listen to saleen !!!!!! I never knew you owned a place, it sounded like it was great place, and it's great that we will see you for the Tony humphries show it will be rocking, the man is a true master!!!! ...........and I'm sticking to my guns on this one as far as the sound goes, its the clubs job to "police" the guest DJ's but its the DJ's responsibility to keep an eye of the levels, to take a walk on the floor or anything else that needs to be done to make the system sound sweet..........if the system sounds like shit because of a poor system or install, hey the DJ cant do anything about it, nor can anyone else with out a fat check book in their hand - but if its a top notch, properly tuned system as our system is, than the artist needs to take some responsibly for the sound quality and the volume whoever that may be, for events both in the past and the future..............if not than what do we need to pay 3-10k grand for top notch talent, lets hire bedroom DJ's for $50.00 dollars and call it a day ........... As far as the layo & bushwacker show goes it was 100% amazing and off the hook and worth every penny and we would love to see them return,, they are great DJ's and true gentleman. Nick and the entire cool junkie family did an amazing job from a-z and again some how in typical C. Yes, this thread has turned into a big positive and thanks to everyone for the input.... to answer a few of your statements (#1) all the eq's are of course are locked and not even in the booth as per common sense and dash (#2) your 100% wrong about how much lee way the equipment in the booth allows the artist, in fact w/ 2 separate cross overs (one for the dance floor & one for the monitors) plus the additional mids and highs controls located on the "phazon custom mixer" in the booth, this equipment allows the DJ's to make it sound virtually any way they want for better or worse, ..........the problem is what sounds "sweet from the booth" sounds horrible on the floor..........it very deceiving! If it sound like its low (volume) and not enough highs in the booth (with the monitors off) than the floor sounds perfect...........also if the monitor are cranked when you tun them off your ear thinks it's hardly playing on the dance floor and thus leads the DJ to crank it up some more - there are arrows on the cross overs to mark for the DJ's the "sweet spot" set up by dash -- and quite simply that's the problem ..........if it sounds good in the booth (w/ the monitors off) the dance floor is "off"............. as far as the system being pushed - as of day one it has been set at a negative DB in the booth as someone has suggested earlier (don't forget dash is arguably the best sound guy in the world) ...and ALL THE AMPS ARE SET Way BELOW ANY KIND OF MAX.............they never run hot or even show a red clip light no matter how hard you push it.........they have so much "head room its ridicules"............the system is probably capable of going twice the volume it is set at now! first of it was a great night and a great show, but lets address the sound system, I'm sure you back seat sound engineers can figure out that every singe item to control EVERY ASPECT OF THE SOUND is in the DJ booth, THAT INCLUDES VOLUME, BASS, MID, & TREBLE............THE SYSTEM IS SUPER sophisticated AND PROBABLY one of THE BEST SYSTEMS IN THE US (FOR A ROOM THAT SIZE W/ 12 FOOT CIELINGS)...................according to every DJ in south beach from all the top clubs and your favorite guys, they have all been there and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM HAS ASKED TO JAM WITH US ...................ITS UP TO THE DJ's TO READ THE CROWD AND ADJUST THE LEVELS,............which is why it got a little thin at 4am.....................djing in a club is way different than a studio (yes i know they have major residencies but in a club they are used to)..........even though the guys were great and they rocked and the party was off the hook - you are 100% correct, they had the treble and the mids tweaked into the stratosphere.......AGAIN NOT TO BE RUDE ITS THE DJ FAULT NOT PHAZON/DASH ( i assure you he did not design the system to be trimmed at 6 o clock WITH the highs, 12 o'clock is perfect and sweet, so there you have it the strait up truth - ..........i told them several times to lower it just a bit and to stop tweaking the treble, when its set perfect, but they seem to have better ideas, unfortunately the booth while very close to the dance floor is very deceiving, and since this was a one off they were not used to the room...........if you think the floor was ear bleeding you should have been in the booth they had the monitors cranking at a level that could have killed a small yak.......................had dash walked into the room he would have thrown up & choked me on the spot ..............so if your unhappy w/ the volume and the ear bleeding i totally understand, but by no means should you be attacking dash/ phazon or the club................. if anyone saw satoshi or digweed you know what I'm taking about, they had the system sounding like the pit in a PHILOMONIC ORCHESTRA....its all in the DJ's hands, and its up to them how they use the equipment, i had told them several times but hey you know how it is when you bring in international superstars you kinda have to let them do there own thing with in reason...........anyway my apologies for the volume and tone they had the system at and when your right your right, so when they come back i will be much more firm with them but in the meantime lets just keep the blame where it belongs and that with the artist !!!! These are the facts of the case and they are INDISPUTABLE!!!!!
