  1. Hey guys and girls. Me and the gf will be coming to NYC on the Saturday 24th July and want to go to a club again. However, we're not sure where to go. Went to Avalon the last time I was in the city (Carl Cox in March) but don't really want to go there again. Can anyone recommend some clubs that cater for trance/hard dance etc... I've been looking somewhere for listings that detail everything that's going on that night but have been unsucessful so far (have only found Avalon's listings). Short of visiting every club's pages (on my slowwww connection), I'm at bit of a dead end. Would appreciate your help. Andy
  2. Hey. Was just wondering what people thought of Exit last night... Me and my girlfriend got there about 10ish, queued up for no more than 10 minutes... I don't know if this is the norm in NYC, but I cannot believe that they didn't search anyone (well, that I saw of anyway - including me and my girlfriend). I thought that with all the extra security of this city, that the club would be searching people... Once inside, there was this dodgy Christmas music playing, so we assumed that JP was late or something, which wasn't really a problem for me... Was shocked at the prices of drinks there. $20 for 2 Vodka and cokes. Good job we had a bit to drink before we got into the club... Despite the look from the outside, I was quite impressed by the inside of the club. Nice and big aswell... Knew immediately that the DJ turned up as we heard this loud cheer. Music was excellent. I was expecting it to be soft kinda house (being unfamiliar to JP's style), but it turned out to be kinda hard. That Like A Prayer remix was excellent... The atmosphere was really good but just after midnight, we thought that there were way too many people there and we decided to leave about 12:40. The coat check was an absolute nightmare: we only wanted to get out coats and go. 15 minutes later, we left and when we went outside, there was loads of people waiting to get in... Overall, I thought it was quite a good night especially since it was only $40 per ticket... Did like the signs on the door that read "All exits are final", which suggested to me that there was no way that JP was going to DJ for the whole 30 hours stated. Wondered how long he actually did DJ for. He should still be DJ'ing now really ; )
  3. if you are from U.K. you will definately not like mannequins !, --- How comes? .....The nightlife over here in the UK isn't too bad. You can find anything you want really, which is good for me coz I like to go to raves (Slammin' Vinyl, Helter Skelter etc...) - although I haven't been to one in a while
  4. rafaelmendez : You are exactly right there. I just wanna go somwhere where me and my gf can have a drink and a laugh. Don't you have to pay $21 to get in Pleasure Island and once you're in, you can just go from club to club, so it's only really the drinks and food that cost money? There's always a club in our hotel that we can check out..... I have basically given up on finding clubs/events that cater for my taste(s) of music as I can only really find them over here in the UK. The U.S. is just so damn BIG The only real music that I don't wanna hear is anything like rap/hip-hop/r n b. ..... Am also going to NYC for NYE and am trying to find a club that we can go to that is basically trance/techno/house and not that expensive. Aint asking much am I Thanks guys for the help. Andy
  5. I'll be in NYC this NYE at The Roosevelt with my girlfriend. We're trying to find a good club to go and are having trouble in doing so. Have been kinda put off with the whole $200 (near-a-bout) entry with "free drink" price tag that I'm hearing about. I can just imagine everyone getting like 3 drinks all night. They do the same over in the UK and it doesn't work either. Would love to go to a rave over in the US. I hear so many good things about them.........Arhhhhhhh help. Andy
  6. Hey. Me and my girlfriend are going to Florida to go to Disney World between December 15th - 20th and were just checking out this area that they have called "Down Town Disney". There are like bars and this place called "Pleasure Island" or something like that where you pay $21 and get free entry to the clubs that are there. There are 2 or 3 clubs; one called Mannequins ("Voted No. 1 dance club in the Southeast" ?????) and the other called Motion plus various other things. Anyway, I just wondered if anyone has been to Disney World and has been to these clubs and let me know what they are like (music, are drinks included in that pric of $21 - very much doubt it, lol). Whether they are actual clubs or just like holiday resort type clubs and any thing else that you think is relevant - such as are they any good?. Thanks for your help. Andy
  7. Hey. Does anybody know where I can find out some information about clubs in NY that me and my girlfriend can go to on New Year's Eve. Preferably trance/techno/house, no rap/hiphop/latin etc... I read somewhere that a club (can't remember the name) charged $150 for last years NYE. Are these the kinda prices I would be looking to paying? If not, then what is the average kinda price. Thanks if anyone can help. Andy
  8. I`ll be there on the 11th August till 15th so thats Mon, Tue, Wed and Thur night. I dont really want to go to a club where you have to wear trousers/jacker etc but then not a club where the people are all wearing baseball caps etc. like some clubs over here (UK). As long as there's no attitude in the club (I`m sure some clubs have quite a bit a trouble) then it`ll be fine with us. Also, I have just turned 21 a few weeks ago and will therefore no doubt be asked for ID, will most clubs in DC accept a UK driving license as a form of ID as I don't really wanna take my passport everywhere I go. Lastly, my girlfriend won't be 21 until the 18th, so do the clubs let under 21's in, and I plan to sneak her some disguised alcohol cause she is one super horny woman when pissed ; ) is this advised with the clubs over there? Again, thanks for the help. Andy
  9. I`m new to this message board so hi everybody.........no doubt I`ll get a "hi Dr. Nick" reply ; ) Anway. I`m going to NYC on either the 15th (Fri) or 16th (Sat) of August with my girlfriend and we want a club to go to but we have no idea where to go, which is why I`m gonna ask you guys/girls for help with. Any club that plays dance music (trance, DnB, possibly house etc - wish there was some happy hardcore : ( - but no rap, hip-hop, RnB please). I`m unfamiliar with NYC so as long as the club isn't in some shady area I`m not too bothered. Dont really want to go to a club where you have to wear trousers/jacket etc but then not a club where the people are all wearing baseball caps etc. like some clubs over here (UK). Again, thanks for the help. Don't want much do I ; ) Any reccomendations would be a great help. Thanks in advance. Andy
