  1. As someone who traveled from NY to experience the whole Miami/Club/ULTRA/WMC thing last year.... I will tell u this. I tried to do it all and had the funds to do it all..... And did it all. Space weekend passess...... Waste of money and time... I can speak for the night I was there, pre ULTRA night, crowed, no room to dance, and the sound cannot compare to TWILO's or Sound Factory. Secondly, every DJ to be seen at Space that weekend will be at Ulta more than likely. Just as I had seen PVD and would much have rather seen him at ULTRA in the Amplitheatre with more room to dance. So my best advice, grab your towel and sun oil, a premixed drink, and head down to the beach, soak up the sun, walk on Ocean Drive, try a Cuban Restaurant and meet some interesting people along the way, make friends w/ your hotel neigbors (they are probably there for the same reason as u) Go and find out where the cool underground parties are, go to Nicki Beach and meet some chicks, take lots of flics, and live it up.... Then if your like me your back to REALITY on Monday. Don't get too caught up in the hype. Enjoy the simple pleasures. and ULTRA! (Friends or significant others are a plus to bring along.) This should save u alot of money by avoiding the Clubs downtown. Drinks at Space were outragegous and water was like $5 a pop.... Yeah.... hmmmmmmmmmmm:eek:
  2. I agree the clubs are overated in Miami. The best parties to go to are the ones closest to your hotels near SOBE. I had the worst time at Space and spent a whole lot of money for a sketched out vibe and couldn't not leave one room from another when I wanted to. Something is wrong with that picture. I did not go to any Ultra After Parties because I was so partied out from Space and all. But this year my party will surround ULTRA and the conference and many of the offering amenities. F~ trying to experience that Club vibe ~ what a waist of money. Been there, done that in NYC, plus the sound is such dissapointment. Is it true with registration for the conference is complementary tix to Ultra and tix to the Dance Awards? (this is just my experience last year)
  3. Where ever the venue is it has to definately be outdoor! Rain or Shine I don't care. I want to be in the Miami sun. I loved the Bayfront ~ the amplitheatre rocked. Also, being able to experience the different backgrounds (the beach area, the Space tent, The Radio 1, even the smaller tents along the bay, and the big water fountain misty thing etc.) to the eclectech beats was very essential and fun. What I love most about outdoor events is the spiritual connection with mother earth, the power of the masses ~ gathering for one cause = MUSIC and DANCE. Which to me is the reflection of an ancient tribal custom. This is our expression of humanity in it's modern form and this is what it should be about! Not drugs not thugs just plain ole love for the culture. If you do party, then do it resposibily. Also, I loved the extra touch of the local food venders. Tropical sliced mangoes and green coconuts... Only in Miami... Can't wait! Still looking for a place to stay.. Last year I stayed at the Seville, what a friggin nightmare. The AC was broke for the whole weekend, we were lucky to find a room outside near the pool and kept our doors open most of the time. It was horrible. The jacuzzi was so disgusting, I would not dare step in it. Luckily it was about 50 steps to the beach. I did get reimbursed for 1/2 of the room charges after my complaints. So it was ok. I guess. But this year it has to be right! I am thinking of a smaller more intimate Boutique Hotel right in SOBE. How's the Blue Moon? Tudor? Or any suggestion... Must have a bar and an outdoor pool area would be nice and be able to party, till I am I ready to stop. Ya know?!?! Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  4. Last year at Ultra many of the locals said that it would be the last year there. They also said that they say that "every year" and still the promoters somehow pull it together in Miami. I am hoping that this year they can do the same. I mean really I did not notice anything negative about the party, the main vibe was that everyone was having a really great time.... and you can't say that is a bad thing. I guess, I myself would prefer Miami because the Bay with the view of the city's skyline with the lighting and visuals made it a very special place. The weather was perfect, though it rained here and there, and who could forget all those Dragon Flies! I guess I should put a call out to a friend who is now living there and see if he can offer any input... Keep your fingers crossed... Anyhow, I think I will find myself there for the WMC. After speaking to many fellow promoter friends and DJ's ~ it's without question that the WMC in Miami w/ or without Ultra will still be the place to be for any one in the industry or anyone who loves the underground electronic music scene.
  5. Last year was my first year experiencing WMC and the frosting on the cake was the Ultra Fest. The whole Miami/South Beach vibe was much needed for my soul and I returned back to New York feeling revived as my love for the dance/club culture became more profound and deeply was I inspired by PVD and the massness of Utra. So, with this in mind... Do I return to Miami though there is no Ultra? Or do I go to Vegas and Rave the desert? I'd like to start booking one or the other!
  6. Hmmmmmmmmm.... Well they did say last year that it would not be in Miami anymore. I was hoping for a Miracle. I guess, I will finally get to experience Sin City and Ravin in the desert. Any further info such as dates would be appreciated.
  7. Hi Miami, I really would love to know if Utra Fest will be held once again in sunny Miami this year and dates if possible. Went last year for the first time and had a blast! I'm ready to book my flight! Will it be during the WMC? Any info is appreciated.
