  1. I'm psyched that I was able to snag one of my longtime friends & influences, Gavin Hardkiss, and get him to record an EP for our EIGHT-TRACKS label. The pre-release just came out this week via Beatport and the general release won't be until mid-October. I think these tracks are sick! So, yeah, I'm excited and want to let folks know about it ... I've pasted the press release below which contains audio samples. Check it out and let me know what you think ... ----- Gavin Hardkiss The Knight Of The Hawke Fields EP (EIGHT-TRACKS 8TR-801) Out now on Beatport Legendary San Francisco DJ/producer Gavin Hardkiss unleashes three original psychedelic house stompers for his debut release on EIGHT-TRACKS. If sleek, techy and funky are adjectives you savor then look no further than The Knight Of The Hawke Fields. Preview the tracks here: 1. Fields Of No Name 2. Can I Borrow Your Cane 3. Necrotone You can also listen to the full EP in the player on the EIGHT-TRACKS MySpace page, Fairtilizer page, and Soundcloud page. Gavin is well known as Hawke, the artist responsible for the classic single 3 Nudes In A Purple Garden, contributions to the Hardkiss compilation Delusions Of Grandeur, and three albums including the critically acclaimed Love Won Another. However, this is his first release as Gavin Hardkiss. A re-relocation to San Francisco has inspired Gavin to embrace his roots in floor-friendly psychedelic dance music. It's a new era, a new chapter, and an inspired update to the familiar Hardkiss sound ... and thus Gavin Hardkiss is on the scene. Three original, blistering tech-house cuts make up The Knight Of The Hawke Fields led by the brilliant "Fields Of No Name" which sounds like a sleek night flight across the San Francisco skyline. The funky magic continues with the sublime statements "Can I Borrow Your Cane" and "Necrotone", further building on Gavin's unique electronic sound. The EP is already getting club play from a diverse crop of DJs which includes Murray Richardson, Nikola Baytala, Sasha, Sandy Rivera, Makossa & Megablast, Hernan Cattaneo, Tyler Stadius, Chris Harris, and Jay West. Gavin Hardkiss - The Knight Of The Hawke Fields EP is available right now, digitally from Beatport. Click HERE to go to the release page. (It will become available at other digital shops in mid-October) Click HERE to read a new interview with Gavin Hardkiss where he discusses The Knight Of The Hawke Fields. Upcoming from EIGHT-TRACKS: Releases by Tres Gueros, Brett Johnson, and Audio Totem Pole. www.EIGHT-TRACKS.com www.myspace.com/eighttracks
  2. Hey there - Just curious where those of you that buy new house 12"s are buying them. I'm especially interested in stores like Juno and Primal that have a good web presence and do a lot of mail order. I'm also seeking the top shops outside of the US and UK if you know of any. If you've got web-sites, MySpace pages, e-mail addys, etc that you can list for them then the party's on! If not, then just the name and city/country will suffice. This information will help out something I've got cooking (and I'm sure the thread will help other curious onlookers). Thanks so much in advance! ---------------------- (free Q-Burns Abstract Message DJ mix downloads: http://www.qubestunes.com )
  3. Hey everybody ... After months of fine-tuning and back-and-forth with my friend Trey Newkerk we can finally announce the launch of Qubestunes. Basically, we decided it would be nice to have one place where people can listen to my DJ mixes as opposed to dealing with broken links and clumsy streams from a bunch of different sources. So I've given Trey every single DJ mix of mine that I could find, collected from CDs, cassette tapes, mini-discs, recorded streams, and who knows what else. So, yeah ... that's every mix I could find. There's dozens of them there dating back as far as 1997. You'll have to register to get to them but it's quick and free. We're going to be adding new mixes all of the time and hopefully re-finding some old ones ... Trey's also added a podcast option so you can make sure you get the new ones straight away. Go here: www.qubestunes.com Anyway, check it out and let me know what you think. I hope you dig it. Also, while on the subject of mixes, I've done an official mix CD for Agave Records called Agave Nectar which will be released in early 2007. More info soon on that. Anyway, I'll be doing a big DJ tour to promote this in association with Agave and Blue Collar Entertainment. We're starting to put this together right now. If you'd be interested in booking me for the Agave Nectar tour then please get in touch ... Thanks all .. I hope this finds you well and you have a wonderful holiday season.
  4. Hello friends! I wanted to take a moment to tell you about a fantastic album that my pal Gavin Hardkiss has put together and that we're releasing on my Eighth Dimension Records label: HAWKE - LOVE WON ANOTHER - out now! Eighth Dimension Records is pleased to announce the release of the new album by Hawke, titled Love Won Another. Producer and DJ Gavin Hardkiss has a long history of influencing dance music with his releases on Sunburn, Six Degrees, Moonshine, and, of course, his own renowned Hardkiss label (where he released his classic "3 Nudes In A Purple Garden"). Love Won Another, Hawke's third full length album, harks back to an ambitious time of Balearic beats and dreamy, melodic indie dance production. Moving vocals singing hopeful lyrics combined with worldly (and often Latin-tinged) musicianship just add to the uniqueness of this effort. Uplifting tunes for a not-so-uplifting time and a brilliant contender for a perfect summer album. Love wins again ... Love Won Another! "It's electronica with pop-rock vocals that T-Rex or Syd's Pink Floyd would make today. The entire LP is a sublime fusion of traditional sounds, modern equipment and contemporary attitudes." - Move On Magazine "The wash of sounds mesh together like sand and sea, creating a perfectly relaxed atmosphere. Youll struggle to find a better full-length release to usher in the summer solstice with. 5 out of 5." - DMC Update "Gavin recently told me that Love Won Another's creation was inspired in part by my Invisible Airline album which is an awesome compliment. Hawke's latest is a fantastic mix of funk, feeling, electronics, and psychedelia that I'm totally enamored with. I think you'll like it quite a bit as well." - Q-Burns Abstract Message READ about Love Won Another and Gavin Hardkiss here: http://www.eighthdimension.com/artists/hawke.html LISTEN to tracks from the album here: http://www.eighthdimension.com/artists/hawkeplayer/ WATCH the video to Hawke's "Flower Girl": http://www.lailoni.com/HAWKE-LoveWonAnother-FlowerGirl.mov BUY the album at your favorite CD shop or online here: http://www.studiodistribution.com/release.php?id=73131 DOWNLOAD the album at Beatport via the Eighth Dimension page: http://www.beatport.com/eighth_dimension More information: http://www.myspace.com/hawke http://www.gavinhardkiss.com
