  1. OR you could think about checking out Europa with fair drink prices, strong drinks, art-minded people, plenty of dance space (since the event is still so new), and a great variety of fresh tunes. Just a thought.
  2. I wasn't trying to start any negativity here. In fact, my goal is the complete opposite. I'm not here to kiss ass and I'm not here to argue either. My goal is simple; start a night where the djs can play what they are passionate about and the club-goers can enjoy a variety of interesting music. Hopefully we can all get along now...
  3. ok. whatever kaydup. i understand your vague post now. it was spelled out so clearly that i have no idea how a misunderstanding could have transpired. Do you have any constuctive ideas on the poll or would it just suck no matter what due to your mood/attitude?
  4. Not too much, I guess. It's just that you're promoting a venue on the same night as the one that I started this thread about. It's just a matter of class in my opinion but this is a public forum so I could care less.
  5. Yeah, thanks but I'm trying to get people down to Europa (and I do it without stepping on toes).
  6. Oh man. I've been looking for an acordian player for my latest production! Hook it up!
  7. Exactly as expected so far...Even on this board, people want more hip hop. I mean, I like hip hop too but aren't there already enough hip hop nights in town at this point? I like a good variety of music but many people "only listen to hip hop". Cmon people. The poll asks "what does Boston need more of?" not "what do you want way too much of?".
  8. When you're looking for a night to go out and just hear some damn-good electronic music. No lines, no dress code (within reason), affordable cover, strong drinks, new lineup every week, never any stale music, and always a great time. You'll hear anything from house, progressive, breaks, tribal, techno, trance amongst other genres depending on which night you attend. Check the flyers and website for more details: http://www.thecollectiveboston.com You can also get reduced admission passes for these events by emailing justincarr@thecollectiveboston.com or simply by joining the forums at http://thecollectiveboston.com/phpBB2/index.php

    Osheen

Osheen was one of the djs that inspired me to start mixing waaay back in 1995, when the acid house was still alive. That sound is coming back now too.
  10. So you only go to a show for the scene? Do you listen to music when you go to a club?
  11. It was still a great time at Rise last night. Nice tunes Eli. I don't think I caught any of Joe Mama but the tunes in the lounge were chill too. It was nice to run into some of you guys last night. Too bad about Luke Fair not showing but still a great time.
  12. I have a Thursday weekly event that I am looking to have promoted by someone with more experience in promoting than myself (no experience). I have a decent event up and running but I'd like to get more people down to the club. Most people are still unaware of the event and what is all about. It is an event that is focussed on addressing the lacking aspects of the current scene (not to bash Boston or anything) and possessing a passion for all genres of electronic dance music. The djs determine what they play in order to achieve a higher level of creativity. Bottom line: music based as opposed to image based. Get in touch with me through here or at thecollectiveboston@yahoo.com Thanks, Justin Carr
  13. Just got back from Virgin records where Nigel had yet ANOTHER Boston appearance. He threw down some nice tracks, for sure, along with Freespace too.
  14. August 4th is definitely not a night to miss, with Freespace on the decks along with the residents.
  15. Boston is a tough scene and Cambridge can just be downright weird. Midweek during the summer is very difficult to promote. I was well aware of it and I think it was promoted as well as it could have been considering the night and scene. Either way Three's set was interesting and enjoyable. I had a good time.

    Porterhouse~!

What's up Groovefire?! How's everything? Yes, Porter put on quite the performance that night...and Bons, what the hell can you say about that? Wow. He rocked the mullet hardcore on the stage. Hope to run into your crew more often. Check out my event if you get the chance. Peace.
  17. Time to bring back that old undergound scene that was once decent for a very short time in Boston... *new flyer posted below*
