All proceeds will be donated to the Dance4Life charity. ______________________________________________________ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 15, 2008 On February 29th, faithful club goers who support District Ignition’s weekly party “Snatch†will have the chance to dance for a cause – and support HIV and AIDS efforts across the globe. With one of every twenty DC residents infected and HIV and AIDS in the national spotlight, this event is more necessary than ever. Doors will open at 9:30 pm and will be hosted in the vault of DC’s popular nightclub, Ultrabar. Funds raised will go directly to the Dance4Life pilot program in Washington, DC public schools and to Dance4Life International. To support the Washington, DC launch of Dance4Life, leaders from the DC club scene will host a Support Dance4Life event on February 29th at Ultrabar. Dance 4 Life representative Carolina Blanco is “hoping that this event will open the eyes of many to not only the HIV/AIDS crisis in Washington, DC, but also across the world, and what an impact for change Dance4Life can have on the lives of all involved.†Donations from District Ignition (in collaboration with Panorama Productions) and attendees will go directly to the DC Schools program and Dance4Life International to involve youth in the fight against HIV and AIDS through education, dance, and discussion. To get on the District Ignition guest list, visit: http://www.districtignition.com What is Dance4Life? Dance4life is a dynamic international initiative which actively involves young people by providing youth a place where they can speak out against the stigma and taboos surrounding HIV and AIDS. By using all aspects of youth culture (their icons, their media, and their favorite music and dance) Dance4Life provides an energetic and engaging platform to address about these serious issues. The Schools Program works in four steps: • A tour using music and dance to communicate the realities of HIV and AIDS • Awareness and fund raising events organized by students to reach out to their community • A Life Skills program to educate youth on HIV and AIDS and give them the skills needed to make healthy decisions • The Big Event, which brings all youth together to celebrate and hear their voices echoed and amplified around the world. In the coming years (2008 - 2014) Dance4Life will involve at least one million young people as “agents of change†in at least 25 countries and 50 cities all over the world. These “agents of change†will break silence, learn life skills, raise money for local community AIDS prevention projects, mobilize civil society and pressure their governments to keep their promises regarding the Millennium Development Goals. Chad Bozzarelli on behalf of District Ignition states, “HIV/AIDS is a huge global concern and we intend to take steps to fight the disease here on our home front of Washington, DC. This will be the first of a series of benefit events we will host in 2008 to support Dance4Life. Our first lineup will feature Breakfast who is an internationally known DC favorite. He has just recently remixed “Into The Dark†by Ferry Corsten feat. Howard Jones so this will be a special performance. We anticipate an energetic response to this event as we unite dancers in the fight against HIV/AIDS.†Dance4Life USA is a project of Students Partnership Worldwide USA, a global leader in empowering youth to be at the forefront of change and development. SPW operates in 11 countries, including 8 in Africa and Asia, giving young people the tools they need to make significant changes in their communities. SPW USA will launch Dance4Life in select DC public schools this year. End of press release
  2. me party with District Ignition as the one and only EDDIE HALLIWELL comes to IBIZA Nightclub! What You Need To Do (the short version): 1. To sign up for the guest list, email glowlist@districtignition.com with your name and the names of any of your friends that you would like to hook up with reduced entry NO LATER THAN 8PM ON SATURDAY. FIRST AND LAST NAMES PLEASE! We will accept "plusses" but bear in mind that all of these folks must show up with you at the door, otherwise, they'll have to stand in the long line, and they'll have to pay full price. 2. Show up no later than 10:30PM to ensure you'll have enough time to find parking and walk your happy ass to the short line so that we can get you in for $10 off prior to 11PM. 3. Do not wear shorts, flip flops, sports jerseys, hats, timberlands, white sneakers, overly baggy gear, etc. If you aren't in compliance with the dress code outlined below, odds are, you won't get in, and there is absolutely nothing we can do to help you. What You Need to Do (the longish version): When you arrive at the club, talk to the clipboard girl (or guy) and tell them that you're on the District Ignition List. The guest list line is on the SOUTH side of the building, so if you're facing the club, head to the LEFT side of the building and get into the line that runs parallel to Patterson. You'll get in for $10 off until 11PM. Make sure you're there on time if you want the full discount. After 11PM, you'll still get in for $5 off (taking it down to $20), though, so not all is lost... Since we'll be working the lines outside, we'll be able to verify that you're on the list and hand you your reduced pass before you even get through security. So, even if you get in line a little on the late side and security is really slow, you won't get screwed at the door by making it to the ticket window at 11:05. Don't wanna wait in the line? Don't! The DI Guest List means you'll be able to skip straight to the "cuts" line that is always much, much shorter than the general admission line. For now, this list is separate and distinct from our normal DI list that you may have signed up for to go to SNATCH or FUSION, so the way to to get access is to email glowlist@districtignition.com You should receive a confirmation email back within a few hours of your submission to the list. If you don't, please hit Jason (ramz) up via AIM (ramseyja13) or get him a message somehow (PM, etc)... We have had a few instances with some email providers (AOL in particular) marking districtignition.com email as spam, so you might have gotten the confirmation back sitting in your junk box... Check there and ensure that we are on your safe recipients list to avoid this issue in the future... As ever, DI appreciates your support and patronage. THE VENUE IBIZA 1222 First Street NE Washington, DC 20002 18+ // Casual Dress Code (no timberlands, no gangsta wear, no hats, no shorts, no flip flops, no white sneakers but jeans and tee-shirts are OKAY)
  3. Dain... how was Saturday night? I heard Julia brought the rave brontosaurus.
  4. I was just reading through these posts and it makes me wonder about NYC. I still have never been to the city to party & quite frankly may not ever really get there for a couple more years. But I always hear about how great the scene is there so tell me... IS IT REALLY? So far this thread has led me to believe that the problems with nightclubs is universal. I've been hosting parties in Washington, DC for a couple years now and everytime we find a new venue it's always the same story: 1) An owner wants to have the prettiest, most high class crowd 2) They want to bank off of bottle service 3) They get pissed if they don't 4) They want the dj's to play what THEY want to hear 5) They don't think twice about the music before booking the party to begin with which leads to drama at opening night
  5. Wow... I just realized that I've only posted 39 times. What a n00b I am
