  2. Launching this concept with Ben Watt [AMP, m101, Spy] at the helm in July, AMP will continue the bookings at SpyBar on Wednesday's to bring you the legends of the game. Our next party will be Wednesday, October 03 with Britain's godfather of house, Evil Eddie Richards. These nights are packed with the right people at the right venue! Wednesday, October 03 Evil Eddie Richards It has been a very busy time for Eddie Richards, dance music's Quintessential pioneer and "Britains godfather of house and techno" (Mixmag). One of the first DJs to champion house back in the mid 80s and one of the UK's original mix DJs residing at London's Camden Palace, voted best club in the world, (Record Mirror.) Eddie became a key figure in a new music and cultural movement soon to explode worldwide. After playing at such influential and original underground clubs as Clink St. and Heaven in London and Manchester's Hacienda, he went on to headline the legendary Sunrise, Energy , and Helter Skelter among countless others. Remix and production work led to the release of club classics; Acidman in 1988 which hit National Top 20, followed by other chart topping remixes of Ralphi Rosario, Orbital and The Shamen. Since the mid 80s he has been included in virtually every book, documentary and film on the dance culture and sought after all over the world for his flawless mix of deep bass driven techno with soulful and tough tribal house, a format he has always maintained, and has led him to be widely regarded as the pioneer of what is now known as tech-house. http://www.eddierichards.net/ Along with, Tracy Tobey [Gramaphone, AMP] ________________ $10 General Admission $5 before 12am with rsvp @ www.ampprod.com/rsvp ________________ Spybar 646 N Franklin Chicago USA 10p - 4a
  3. Friday, August 31 :: 16 Bit Lolitas $5 with RSVP @ www.ampprod.com/rsvp before 12am $10 General Admission Open Bar 10-11pm 16 BIT LOLITAS [Hope, CR2, Shinichi] Peter Kriek and Ariaan Olieroock had been making music on their own for some time before joining forces and becoming 16 Bit Lolitas in 2003. This collaboration quckly produced a wave of releases. Tracks such as The Puppet Show, Destiny, My Lexicon, Stereo Control and the epic Sedna quickly followed on labels as diverse as Yoshitoshi, Alternative Route, Release, Sadie, Plastic Fantastic, Nu Republic, Armada, Minimal, DK and Little Mountain Recordings. A hectic three years has propelled the boys into the spotlight where their crisp creations have carved out a sound that is both cool and sophisticated. It embraces all that is good about House. Peter and Ariaan consistently turn in tight productions that stand out in a crowded market place. It’s electronic music that has been patiently crafted and produced with emotion as well as technical proficiency. The 16 Bit sound is aimed at the ‘thinking clubber’: shimmering bass lines that are devised to test the cream of the world’s sound systems to the max, compressed kicks that rarely exceed 128 BPM with sparkling hi-hats sprinkled on top. Friday, July 13 :: Gourmet vs Hej DOME ROOM:: MAZI [Gourmet Recordings, Audio Soul Project] This relentlessly forward-thinking approach has focused Mazi throughout his ten-plus years of making dance music. He's released over 150 productions and remixes, and DJ'ed in every corner of the world, but his sound is constantly evolving, a creative process that shows no signs of slowing down. While he spent part of 2004 assessing where he was musically, he's begun 2006 with a renewed fever for his music, and with a slate of ambitious projects on the horizon. DJing has always been Mazi's first passion, and his recent sets have been particularly inspired. Listen to Mazi behind the decks these days and you'll hear a survey of dance music's extreme cutting-edge labels and tracks. His record bag is packed with a furious collision of 303 acid lines; searing synthesizers; thick, punchy drum kits; new wave-inspired vocals; and tracky, jacked-up house and techno. His sound touches on the electronic house style that has put labels like Brique Rouge, Crosstown Rebels, Poker Flat, Get Physical, Freak n' Chic and Mazi's own Gourmet at the forefront of the underground labels that have been burning up the industry. DAVE T [AMP, Faderwave.net, DJDaveT.net] Introduced to the sounds of electronic music in the late 90's, Dave T was quickly drawn into the house music scene. However, it wasn't until he was tag teaming light shows with a friend at Moda Nightclub in Cleveland, OH that Dave decided to move away from his 14 year percussion background and purchase his first 1200's after moving to Chicago in 2004. Dave's style has matured into what you'll now hear in the selection of House incorporated in his sets. His selection generally covers a range of house music, which includes but is not limited to, tech house, electro, and tribal. His influences include Rene Amesz, Kriece, Jeff Bennett, John Dahlback, Andrea Bertolini, Mario Ochoa, Tony Thomas, and Sebastien Leger. Dave takes great pride in exposing obscure tracks that otherwise might have gone unheard. His style, track selection, and programming skills influence clubbers onto a dance floor and into an ultimate clubbing experience. Expect the unexpected as Dave is consistently striving to take his listeners on a clubbing journey that will surely be remembered. Dave's percussion background and understanding of composition has helped set him apart from his peers. He has accomplished a great deal in the industry since becoming serious about the decks, and looks forward to rounding his DJ’ing career by adding his own production to his sets in the near future. He has also been noticed internationally, having a mix selected by London based magazine “DJ†to grace the pages of the September 2006 issue. Dave currently holds a weekly residency on internet radio, Faderwave.net www.djdavet.net www.myspace.com/deejaydavet HAC LE & MIKE KHOURY [AMP, Listed, Auralism, Deckstar, Play Co] Two of Chicago's biggest and baddest DJs unite for a heady blend of minimal and techy beats! From there Hac packed his bags and moved on to Chicago where he took a brief two year hiatus before returning to the decks. He re-emerged with a distinctive musical style - fusing his previous West Coast experience with the local Chicago House and Techno scenes. Known for his contrast of light and dark emotive soundscapes, Hac has captivated crowds across the country with his energetic, chunky, throbbing beats, performing in Chicago (Crobar, Transit, RedNoFive), San Francisco (The EndUp, Mezzanine, LoveFest, Anu), Los Angeles (Avalon), Milwaukee and Mexico (Mexico City, Cancun, Acapulco and Queretaro) with some of the best talent in the industry such as John Digweed, Lee Burrudge, Bill Patrick, Desyn Masiello, Moshic, BT, The Crystal Method, Taylor, Sandra Collins, Paul Van Dyk, Deep Dish, Pako & Frederik, Hector Romero, James Zabiela, Demi, Kazell and Hernan Cattaneo. John Digweed was so enamored by Hac's winning entry that he decided to feature the mix on an episode of his internationally syndicated Kiss 100 radio show. Hac was also flown out to Denver to open for John Digweed and Desyn Masiello’s Endless Summer Tour at the world famous venue, The Church. HouSexy in the Vision Lair :: Siteholder vs. Auralism Friday, May 25 2007 Ladies FREE ALL night and guys, $5 cover w/ RSVP before 11pm, $10 General Admission $5 Top Shelf Liquor AMP Hosted Bar 10-11pm Email info@ampprod.com to reserve your birthday or VIP party! Everybody loves a good fight. There's none better than a duel between Chicago's Siteholder Records versus San Francisco's Auralism. This week, we bring you a rare live PA by Coalition of the Killing, along with local favorites Daniel Mnookin and Brian Ffar. Opening the night is AMP's very own Diskokitty. COALITION OF THE KILLING [Auralism, San Francisco] Auralism Records was founded in spring 2006 by Jason Short and Marc Smith. The two met in Jacksonville Florida in 1999 and shortly after, began producing and releasing various styles of electronic music under the names Sattva, Biogenesis (with Chris Havens), and Groove Element (Marc and Chris). After a few relocations, and some major changes in the world of Electronic music, Marc and Jason relinked once again in Miami in early 2003, and Coalition of the Killing was conceived. After the urging from a successful figure in the industry, Jason and Marc started out on their own and Auralism Records was born. The two have now relocated to San Francisco, and have been working hard to build momentum, throwing amazing parties with Funkycozy, and making relationships with an array of amazing artists. Auralism is now made up of a dynamic core of artists from across the country...amazing individuals, and top-notch electronic music producers. Auralism Records is about the music: Forward-thinking, twisted, deep electronic and electro-acoustic music with acute attention to sound-design, groove, and musical integrity, moving ahead; leaving tired, regurgitated ideas behind and making something new, building a community where the artists can thrive and achieve their fullest creative potential, organizing cutting-edge, multimedia events, creating a long-lasting organization of individuals from very different backgrounds, working together for mutual success. www.myspace.com/coalitionofthekilling www.myspace.com/auralismrecords DANIEL MNOOKIN & BRIAN FFAR [siteholder, Proton Radio] Siteholder Records is the brainchild of Chicago natives Billy Dalessandro, Brian Ffar, and Daniel Mnookin. Residing in the city that gave house music its name, Siteholder strives to combine the various elements of modern techno with the jackin rhythms that put their hometown on the electronic music map. Siteholder releases command you to get out of your chair, charge the dance floor, and get down to some serious beats. Following the success of Siteholder Records, the Chicago based trio of Billy Dalessandro, Brian Ffar, and Daniel Mnookin turn things up a notch with Siteholder UnCut – a digital sub-label currently sold exclusively through Beatport. Featuring the edgier side of techno that initially established the roots for modern day tech house and minimal techno, expect a riskier sound from a wider range of artists (both well known and up and coming) that is bound to please both one’s aural senses as well as a packed dance floor. If Siteholder is any indication of what these Chicago natives have to offer the electronic music global community, UnCut will only serve to further establish a well rounded foundation of serious beats combined with heady intoxication. www.myspace.com/siteholder DISKOKITTY [AMP, Intergruv, Silent T] Diskokitty, also known as Margot Rudy hails from Chicago. At age 4 she was put in classical piano lessons as she realized music quenched a powerful thirst within her. Diskokitty was exposed to dance music as a young child. As soon as she went to college she bought her first turntables and mixer and started practicing and brainstorming different concepts and sounds. Since then, Diskokitty has held several residencies, hosted her own events and weeklies, spun in many states, as well as Mexico and Canada. DK spins regularly at Chicago's hottest night clubs, is featured on both eradiox.com and friskyradio.com and she also makes regular appearances on Chicago public radio: WNUR. Diskokitty is open to all types of events and all types of music. She can be found spinning anything from amen jungle in a dark rave to an eclectic trip hop mix at an art show, to throwing down a house set in a night club or lounge. Diskokitty's next move is production. In the near future, she plans on releasing a collection of tunes of genres including: house, trip hop, funk, and drum and bass. These will include her own lyrics and vocals. diskokitty.com www.myspace.com/djdiskokitty ________________ FREE COVER WITH RSVP BEFORE 11PM RSVP HERE Every week we bring you Housexy in the Lair (minus 1st Fridays)! 16. AMP Productions is looking to book new talent for our upcoming shows, specifically House, Techno, Trance, Breaks, and Electro DJ's. Please drop off your demos at any one of our events. Look forward to meeting you. AMP & VISION NIGHTCLUB PRESENT... HouSexy 1 Year Anniversary in the Vision Lair w/ HABERSHAM Friday, May 18 2007 Ladies FREE ALL night and guys, FREE cover w/ RSVP before 11pm, $5 General Admission $5 Top Shelf Liquor AMP Hosted Bar 10-11pm Email info@ampprod.com to reserve your birthday or VIP party! Believe it or not, the HouSexy 1 year anniversary is just around the corner! Not to worry, we're showing no signs of slowing down... not with this week's stellar lineup. AMP is proud to present visionary DJ and producer Habersham from Atlanta, along with local favorites Blake Jarrell, Ben Brown, and newcomer DJ Shu. As an added bonus, we're throwing Hoang from Avalon LA in the lineup. Visuals provided by Brinkman. HABERSHAM [Audio Therapy, Blueprint, Lobotomy, Atlanta] Young Habersham has achieved more in 5 years than most hope to achieve in a lifetime: he’s played in over 19 cities worldwide, from Australia to Turkey, Budapest to Amsterdam, throughout the States, Mexico and Central America; he has over 30 releases under his belt on labels such as Audio Therapy, Global Underground, Proton, and his own Blueprint & Lobotomy imprints; his music has been featured on over 10 of the world’s most prestigious compilations & mix CDs such as Renaissance (x3), Global Underground, Bedrock Breaks (x2), Distinctive’s Y4K, Balance, et al. And in 2005 he recorded 2 exclusive radio mixes for both Annie Nightingale’s BBC 1 and John Digweed’s ‘Transitions’ shows as well as numerous mixes aired on international radio shows in Germany, Turkey, Hungary, Australia’s JJJ, and throughout America. Not bad for a 24 year old. He’s done a “fantastic job,†you might say. Damon would disagree. He hasn’t done enough – not nearly enough. Now he’s getting his hands dirty with technology – filthy dirty. He’s not only creating music that tears down boundaries, but he’s dabbling with creating full original visual and other sensory stimulation. Habersham is shedding the limitations of turntables and CDJs, moving towards a completely unique live performance incorporating various media forms into his live show. Some listeners have described his music as subtle, twisted underground music. Some say it’s a bit too ‘weird.’ Others cannot even find the words to describe his taste, and this is what makes him most proud. Perhaps the greatest of compliments is when an artist cannot be labeled or boxed in, which explains why Damian Lazarus, James Holden, Pig & Dan, Phil K, Lee Burridge, James Zabiela, Dave Seaman, Nic Fanciulli, Ozgur Can and even Slam give heavy rotation to his selections. www.myspace.com/habergoose BLAKE JARRELL [Armada, Organized Nature] Blake Jarrell's love for electronic dance music began in New Orleans. At the age of 15, he would sneak into the cities freshest clubs to see such influencing acts as Sasha, Armin Van Buuren, and Sander Kleinenberg. Almost immediately, Blake started making his own contributions to the underground dance music world, firstly in the form of a floaty progressive breakbeat single "Apricot" with former production partner, the late Starkid. From here he helped define the atmospheric and progressive breakbeat movement at the time with singles such as "Destin Beach" and "Okoboji". His production efforts not only got him acclaim in the dance music community, but academically as well, having received a full scholarship to Loyola University New Orleans College of Music Business. Just as Blake began to get comfortable, tragedy struck. On August 29th, 2005, Blake's hometown of New Orleans was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, leaving his life totally uprooted. This disaster prompted a move to Chicago where Blake quickly immersed himself in the booming house, techno, and trance scenes of the historic city. With this new influence, Blake began to develop his current sound that is undefinable. You can't call it house. You can't call it techno. You can't call it trance. One thing is for sure though, you can count on every major DJ from all areas of electronic dance music to praise and hammer Blake's work. Armin Van Buuren and Gabriel & Dresden listed Blake as their "Hope for 2007" in DJ Magazine's Top 100 Poll. Tiesto even stuck Blake in his personal voting ballot. Blake is also getting repeated plays and support by the likes of Pete Tong, Matthew Dekay, Sandra Collins, Paul Oakenfold, Markus Schulz, and many others all across the board for tracks like his remixes of Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" (w/ Topher Jones), Anna Nalick's "Breathe", the Pink Floyd classic "Comfortably Numb", Blake's own "Glitter Gun", and Blake's Dane Cook sampling "Dood I Just Wanna Dance". www.myspace.com/blakejarrell www.blakejarrell.com BEN BROWN [Lyon Echo, TranceTribe Recordings] Ben Brown was born in 1983 and raised in the suburbs of Indianapolis. With his mother being an avid piano player and his constant exposure to music from all genres, it seemed inevitable that he would find his passion in music. Ben discovered the sounds of dance music at the tender age of 15 and quickly found himself immersed in the then new sounds of trance and progressive. More recently, he has shown an innate ability for pleasing the ears of dance music fans in the Midwest and beyond. When in Indianapolis, Ben performed at a number of Indianapolis hottest clubs, including Therapy, Blu, and Gelo Ultra Lounge. In the Fall of 2006, Ben made the move to Chicago. Along with a hectic schedule of graduate school and work at a 9-to-5, Ben found instant success with his music, getting booked for gigs at a number of Chicago's finest dance music venues, including the renowned Vision Nightclub. As a DJ, Ben's mixes have been aired on a number of major internet radio stations, including cameos on Frisky Radio, ETN, and XTC Radio London. His mixes have also aired on the FM airwaves across the world; from hosting the weekly dance music show "Sunday Sessions" on 91.5 WGRE to having a mix aired on Greece's 88.7 FM. As a producer, Ben began experimented with creating dance music at the age of 17, but it wasn't until early 2005 before he decided to invest serious time and effort into producing quality dance music. Since then, his head has been deeply buried in the studio, where he continues to strive to create great music that defies genre classification and keeps the dance floors moving. The future looks bright for Ben. He currently working on a number of original productions, remixes, and collaborations and can be found working with the finest DJs and Producers in Chicago and beyond. www.myspace.com/djbenbrown DJ SHU Making his HouSexy debut is Chicago up-and-comer DJ Shu. Make sure not to miss his superior track selection and smooth blends. www.myspace.com/dj_shu With special guest... HOANG [Avalon, Los Angeles] One of the most consistent and eclectic DJs in Los Angeles, Hoang consistently brings an electric and positive vibe each time he steps on the decks. The experience of playing every major LA dance venue Los Angeles (Spundae, Avalon, Giant, Basic), from lounges to mega-club, and being billed alongside and opening for DJs such as Halo, Derrick Carter, DJ Dan, Timo Maas, Yousef, Desyn Masiello, Lee Burridge, Mike Hiratzka, and Sean Miller has enabled Hoang to become one of the most diverse and sought after DJs in town. He's one of the few local DJs that can adapt by playing multitude of styles. The result is always a groovin dancefloor. Coming to a HouSexy near you, AMP is proud to present the Techno baroness, the professional eardrum pummeler, none other than Ms. Punisher herself. We invite you to check out her live PA set, which is sure to be the talk of the town for months to come. The debauchery begins with DJs Brandon Invergo and Dirtybird opening the night. Visuals provided by Brinkman. PUNISHER [Hej Records, Seismic, Detroit] Known in Detroit and around the globe for her ambition and skills on the tables, Michelle Herrmann a.k.a. Punisher has set a precedent in a city known for its fickle taste. Her immersion into the techno realm began in Detroit in 1993, at the age of 15. From the beginning, Michelle was constantly striving to progress in her art, and soon DJing was just not enough for her. In 1996 and 1997 she put out her first two releases on Detroit label Matrix records. Then, in 1998, she started her own label, Seismic Records, with friend and fellow producer Mike Brickner a.k.a. Cozmic Spore. Using the label as a tool to push forth the concepts of sound and motion, they have worked with and gained the respect of many world renowned DJs and producers. With releases from the Advent, Bryan Zentz, and Andrei Morant, collaborations with legendary producer Mark Gage (Vapourspace), and licensing from Dave Clarke and Billy Nasty, to name a few, Seismic is developing into a strong force for techno in the US and around the world. Now on it's 21st twelve inch release, Seismic Records has become an outlet for Michelle's creativity and allows her to continue moving in a new direction with her sound, as she combines the synthy yet percussive styles of Swedish and German techno with the underground sounds inspired her Detroit roots. To back the momentum of her techno releases, Michelle travels the world DJing, performing LIVE PA's, and consistently dominating dancefloors with her unparalleled sets. Her sound encompasses Drum N' Bass, Techno, Electro, and everything in between. She has repeatedly played throughout the US, Canada, Europe and Latin America, and has headlined at large scale events and top clubs around the world, and has performed along side artists such as Joel Mull, Cari Lekebusch, Marco Carola, Ben Sims, Adam Beyer, Misstress Barbara, Richie Hawtin, Dave Clarke, Derrick May, T-1000, Gaetano Parisio, and many others. On top of her game would be an understatement for Punisher, as her accomplishments are only a small portion of what she has planned for 2007 and beyond, including the creation of a new label, Hej Records, founded with a unique vision. The new label will present the public with a release of a huge onslaught of music, including her first ever full length album! www.myspace.com/mspunisher DIRTYBIRD [italo Business, NBFC] Dirtybird, a bona fide genre drifter and indecisive vinyl addict, has been a relentless electronic music fan for the past 15 years. Her journey to Denver and then back to Chicago in the late 90s marked the beginning of Dirtybird's obsession with sharing a unique blend of sounds that had soul, regardless of genre. Denver's newly thriving scene infected Dirtybird, and by the time she moved back to chicago she was consumed. It felt natural to buy some decks and to start creating music of her own. In 2003, Dirtybird played exclusively at house parties for luv-n-musik. it wasn't until she was invited to do a monthly gig at the joint's "flirt" night at lava lounge that Dirtybird got settled into her own sound: a mix of minimal, electro, tech house, and techno. It was also during this time that two of dirty's original tracks were aired on Q101's Sonic Boom radio show. She also became a favorite on djsourceradio, a UK based internet radio station that featured unknown talent from all over the world. Dirtybird's first EP can be found on the label italobusiness. Look out for her remix of Trisomie 21's dark wave track "sweet running over," which is currently available and features such artists as Misstress Barbara and k-hand. there is also a chance of a few of Dirtybird's tracks to be released on Chicago's own Siteholder records an Zuvuya Recordings, so keep checking the news section for releases. www.dirtybirdmusic.com www.myspace.com/dirtybirdmusic BRANDON INVERGO [Zuvuya, Coincidence] The needle touched the record in the first month of Brandon's college life, and from then on, he was hooked. He spent his college years exploring the many facets of dance music and honing his skills behind the decks as the Electronic Music Director at his school's radio station, while also spinning at various events, both big and small, around the state. However, the unbridled excitement of spinning at empty house parties and over unnoticed airwaves could only last so long before the desire for something more would set in. Brandon's escape from Indiana couldn't be more anticipated.??Post-graduation, Mr. Invergo returned to his birthplace of Chicago, where he was quickly assimilated, quite unwillingly one might add, into the NBFC. While it was his stunning good looks that originally gained him membership to the elusive cabal, it was soon discovered that, like other members, he also had talents behind the decks.??His eclectic sets, ranging from acid to techno to electro to just downright weird, can now be heard at a variety of clubs, bars, and sketchy afterparties around Chicago. Never taking himself too seriously, Brandon simply aims to provide a good time with great music by which to properly jack. ??When he's not pretending to be a DJ, this young lad also likes to moonlight as a musician, producing various forms of techno under his birth name; dark ambient music to commit suicide by as Jakob Creutzfeldt; and wrestling music from the distant future's past as one half of the tag-team duo Ricky the Steamboat. www.brandoninvergo.com www.myspace.com/brandoninvergo ________________ CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE ADVANCE TICKETS (guaranteed admission) FREE COVER WITH RSVP BEFORE 11PM RSVP HERE Every week we bring you Housexy in the Lair (minus 1st Fridays)! GABRIEL PALOMO [Zuvuya, GabrielPalomo.com] Gabriel Palomo's passion for electronic music spans the history of his deep roots in rhythm, dance and the arts. Playing the drums since the late 70's and spinning vinyl since the early 80's, he has evolved through the journeys of early New York hip hop, break beats, early Italian Disco, German and Detroit electro / techno to Chicago's acid, house and industrial sounds. Driven by technology of the past, present and future, he established Zuvuya Recordings and launched the Galactic Tone series. Joining forces with artists Tim Xavier, Lee Chameleon, Soul-Tek, Matt Nee, Nathaniel Shreve and DeeCoy. Zuvuya has been well received for its combination of driven techno, electro and industrial qualities. Zuvuya's Lunar EP was honored as a finalist in the dance / electronic category of the International Songwriting Competition, spun by many International DJ's like Dave Clarke, Felix Da Housecat and Tommie Sunshine, licensed by Mauro Piccotto and DJ Hell for their most recent CD mixes on Meganite and Time Warp, and received radio play in the UK, Germany, and XM Satellite Radio. Lunar and the follow-up release Electric Phaze were both praised with a 5-star review in Germany's De:Bug magazine. Remix projects from Palomo include Tim Xavier's 773tekno03 “AzeeeO EPâ€, Greg Kobe's “Feel the Funk EP†for Tim Baker's Elephanthaus Records and Jeff Storms “Release 1 EP†on Edensonic Records. Palomo's earlier releases include the sounds of “Oscuro†on Fresca Recordings and “Trouble One†on Mindshift Records. In addition to continuing the Galactic Tone Series releases, Gabriel has many plans in the works for 2007 including: the launch of Zuvuya and Provex Digital MP3 series exclusively distributed by GrooveSource and a Zuvuya Recordings worldwide tour, making noise and music for the masses. www.gabrielpalomo.com www.myspace.com/gabrielpalomo www.zuvuyarecordings.com PULZ-8 [8-Trax Recordings] Pulz-8 started DJing in 1992 and made his first appearances behind the decks in and around his hometown of Chicago. Check Pulz-8's myspace page for upcoming releases as well as exclusive downloads. www.myspace.com/pulz8 LOCAL HERO [TrashMenagerie.com, The New Guard, Base 10 Breaks] Hailing from the resplendent city of Chicago, Local Hero’s DJing career has been an uphill battle. Pushing through a sea of house music, his unique style of all things funky, be it breaks, jungle, house, electro, and many other esoteric subgenres, has earned him a regular place in the Chicago music scene. As one of the founders (along with Tolgar) of Base 10 Breaks, he has regularly thrown the only regular breaks parties in Chicago. Their brainchild, Algorhythm at the recently revived Lava Lounge, brought some of the best breaks DJs from around the world as well as highlighting some of the talented locals that grace the small but loyal Chicago breaks scene. This night was followed by the monthly event, Lifenight at Vertigo which continued to bring the big acts. His most recent venture, The New Guard at Tini Martini, had become a bastion for all the disillusioned Chicago heads that crave something beyond the same old party. Currently, besides regularly DJing all over the country, Local Hero devotes his energy to trashmenagerie.com, a highly regarded music blog and promotion crew, that focuses on finding and displaying the most innovative, new music artists and DJs that the world has to offer. He also holds down a weekly radio show, The Mathlab Sessions, every Friday from 7-9 CST on the world’s largest, most popular breaks website in the world, nuskoolbreaks.co.uk He is definitely a name to look out for in the coming as his unique, funky sound continues to spread across the world. www.myspace.com/localhero www.yourlocalhero.net KIDDO [DJKiddo.net] Much like techno itself, Kiddo's dynamic style is always evolving. She has had the opportunity to play with a number of veteran and up and coming producers and DJs. Recently, she has shared the booth with international talent such as Titonton Duvante, Ryan Elliot, Punisher, Ryan Crosson aka Berg Nixon, Ben Parris, Frankie Vega, and Gabriel Palomo, all of whom exposed her to new sounds and helped her continue to develop as a DJ. Influenced by the sounds of Berlin, Detroit, and Chicago, Kiddo's style is a melding of numerous genres of techno and house music. Her sets may range anywhere from glitchy, shuffling micro-house to sexy, melodic tech-house to more dark and sinister techno. Lately she's been moving the dance floors with seamless mixes of up-tempo tech-house and minimal techno with the occasional jackin' cut thrown in for good measure. She is known for her enthusiasm behind the turntables, connecting with the dancefloor through the combination of a charismatic smile and energetic mixing. Kiddo currently has a monthly residency at Chicago's favorite underground night spot, Smartbar, where she has been producing events to introduce internationally respected techno artists to the city's dance music devotees. As a vocalist trained in classical and jazz performance, Kiddo also currently sings with several Chicago choral groups when she's not behind the turntables or dancing her heart out at late-night gatherings in support of her city's vibrant techno scene. www.myspace.com/dj_kiddo ________________ FREE COVER WITH RSVP BEFORE 11PM RSVP HERE AMP Hosted Bar 10p-11p $5 Top Shelf Cocktails ALL NIGHT View Photos from previous AMP events AMP on MYSPACE RSVP for this event Find dope music downloads, meaningless conversation, interwebs lust, and everything in between!!!
