  1. Thanks for the tips about 'Industry Night' and 'no such thing as club hopping in Vegas.' They are useful and I'll remember them. At the same time, I'd hate to confirm I prefer an 'upscale, older crowd' because I'm looking for variety. That doesn't mean I need to see/hear/do it all in one night in one club. I'll probably be out and about two or three nights in total...maybe Tu/Th/F...haven't decided. But an upscale/older crowd would be nice once. Then, I might also like to look at the pretty frat boys at The Beach. I really am one of those people who likes to mix it up. Trouble is, what one considers to be 'upscale' can be 'hole in the wall' to another. This trip, I'm not going to be too picky. My only question is about your reference to tipping the door host and tourists not having that luxury. Not sure what you mean, here. I don't care to tip, but I may have to face the music. (Sorry, bad pun.)
  2. For Music: I'm one of those people who really likes it all. My friends look at my CD collection (am I showing my age now) and usually walk away confused because of the variety. In truth, I'm a concert junkie...if there's live music somewhere, I have to be there to hear it. I've even travelled cross-country a couple of times to LV just to see my favorite band (who shall remain nameless) perform. But, for clubbing, I'm not looking for that. Anything other than Top 40 is fine. Maybe a bit of trance? For Crowd: As long as it's not the under 21 crowd, it's all good. A mix of 20- and 30-somethings is great. (In case you're wondering, I'm 39, but I guess I must look younger. Over Fourth of July weekend, a 27-young old tried to pick me up and he claimed I looked more like 25. I thought that was a stretch but...whatever!) For Size of Venue: Medium to Large. I like the idea of getting lost in a crowd, maybe socializing a bit and moving onto my next "victim." Ironically, I've been thinking of checking out Tangerine (:::dodging tomatoes::: ), but I hear that until the expansion is complete, TI might be packing people into a glorified closet. For Vibe: When is comes right down to it, it's the people that create a great one. Management, promoters, etc. build the framework. From there, I create my own fun. So, does this info help?
  3. Thanks, LimoDriverLV. I wrote that message in the middle of the night when I was tired, so I guess that's my sorry excuse for not being more specific. I guess most of the people in this forum are locals with a real taste for the local scene in terms of what club they like over another and what DJs they like over another. As an out-of-towner in for a week with nothing to base my opinion on for clubs and DJ's, I really don't know one from the next, so I'm not that particular. I'm just looking to stop in for a drink (I'm not looking for table service) & hang if the vibe's cool...or move on to another if I get bored. Having said that, I'm sure you can understand why, like other tourists, I may not want to spend hours in line or pay a huge fee to make my way in. I simply want to check things out so that on my next trip after this, I'll know what to look for. Until then, I'm sure most of the clubs on or around the strip will be fine to visit. So...for a thirsty chick with no time to waste, do you (or others) suggest I pick a club name out of a hat and hope it's not a time waster? Should take one of those geeky tourist buses that hike you around to three or four bars/clubs? Or should I hang up the whole idea and call it a day?
  4. Hi. I've been lurking a bit and am getting the impression club hopping may be a science in LV, at least for the guys. But what about the girls? Is a large group of women the only way to get a shot thru the door? Are weekdays vs. weekends any different? I'll be in town the last week of August thru Labor Day weekend and am open to suggestions in terms of what to check out. I'm a 30-something female and I'm not sure if I'll have company or will need to explore on my own. While I've been to LV a couple of times before, I've never had the opportunity to see what the clubs are like firsthand, nor am I familiar with west coast DJs. And, like most tourists, I don't have the time to spend in line all night. Any info is appreciated!
