The undisputed king of heavy-weight bass, he runs his own label, Cheap Thrills, has remixed everyone from Bloc Party and Lily Allen to The Chemical Brothers and Prodigy, has a double mix CD on the way, an album as Young Lovers and a new single, Who Da Champ. How he finds time to also go out with Annie Mac, we have no idea. FOAMO – Raised on a diet of drum and bass, dubstep, grime and garage in, where else, but High Wycombe, 21 year-old Foamo exploded onto the fidget house scene when his track ‘Moving It Over Here’ was championed by Kissy Sell Out on Radio One. Releasing the most successful track on Lee Mortimer’s Wearhouse records, he’s since remixed Primary One, MSTRKRFT and The Mystery Jets becoming an in-demand DJ across the UK and Europe. This month see him start his exclusive new monthly residency at Chew the Fat! JESSE TITTSWORTH – Having toured with Kanye West and Kid Sister, Tittsworth’s high energy sets blend Baltimore Club, rave, house, and more. With praise from the likes of A-Track and Diplo, his music is a permanent fixture in blogs, charts and the press which has led to remixes for everyone from disco legend Grace Jones to favourite DNB frontrunner Subfocus. Tittsworth’s debut album, ‘12 Steps’, features unique collaborations with various A-list vocalists and has gained numerous plays on Ministry Of Sound Radio, Kiss FM (London) and Radio 1. DUKE DUMONT – Last year’s ‘Hoy’ EP, out on Switch’s über-cool Dubsided imprint, was listed in every discerning DJs end of year charts as was his re-working of the Mystery Jets ‘Two Doors Down’ which gained particular fans in Erol Alkan & Laurent Garnier. With further remix magic recently sprinkled on Late of the Pier and EPMD, his sets are an exciting mix of deep house & techno with a dose of FX trickery… A1 BASSLINE – One half of internationally loved electro duo, Partyshank, Christian Sibthorpe began A1 Bassline as a side project to make tunes influenced by his first musical love, garage. When the power of blogs saw his mixtape downloaded 50,000 times however, the ‘Girl Thing EP’ soon saw the light of day on Tapedeck’s Meal Deal Records. He has since worked his sound, a mixture of 4×4 garage, bassline and electro, on Cadence Weapon, The Qemists featuring Wiley, Yo Majesty! (possibly the world’s only Pentecostal lesbian rappers) and Frankmusik while also playing gigs on both sides of the Atlantic, a strong LA following meaning he returns to California’s Nocturnal Festival in September. HEY JOE – After bringing his party, No Way Back, to the lounge of Chew the Fat! at The End, Hey Joe takes up monthly residence as warm-up DJ in the main room of Chew the Fat! HYP HYP HYP PRESENT… In Room 2 the Hyponik crew throw down with a room of fierce line-up of further fierce bass action. Dubstep innovators Loefah and Distance join Cursor Minor, who was making electro back when it was actually electro. They’re joined by the crunked-up, booty sounds of Tomb Crew and Patchwork Pirates. Brooklyn based beatmeister Kotchy plays live while Rootseady bring their heavy dub sound. HOLIC PRESENT… Following their long-standing residency at AKA, this Japanese house crew bring their blend of deep, tech, electro, minimal and soulful house to room 3. Tomoki Tamura plays a four hour set alongside DJ JunkBoxx and more tbc. Press enquiries: Joe Roberts: club@thefatclub.com / 020 7924 1333 Paul Arnold: paul@thefatclub.com / 020 7924 1333

  7. CHEW THE FAT! NYE PARTY @ PLAN B, BRIXTON, LONDON Wednesday 31st, December, 9pm – 6am Plan B, 418 Brixton rd, London, SW9 7AY £20 / 9pm-6am Info: 0207 924 1333 / www.thefatclub.com / www.*********.co.uk Dress code: Trainers OK / Capacity: 550 IN THE MAIN ROOM… Micky Slim Lee Mortimer Paul Trouble Arnold Jem Haynes Smiggy & Ficklegruber IN THE BASEMENT NO WAY BACK PRESENTS… Scott Cooper Hey Joe Mr. JP After a monumental 11th birthday party back in October, and a riotous send off with their last ever party at The End in November, Fat! are going back to their Brixton roots for New Year's Eve with an intimate party at Plan B. The perfect night for anyone sick to the teeth of over-hyped and over-priced New Years Eve parties, Fat! will simply be doing what they do best – inviting a few choice guests who are guaranteed to tear up a dancefloor and throwing them into the mix with a friendly, boisterous, and refreshingly unpretentious crowd. Headlining is Fat! favourite Micky Slim, a cheeky young upstart from Birmingham who ignited The End's main room last time he played Fat! with his filthy, acid, wonky electro – or as he prefers to describe it, rubadubdubthreesomeinatubstep. Intrigued? You should be. He'll be joined by Jem Haynes, one half of Precision Cuts, and recently described by Space promoter Mark Broadbent as, "like the bastard son of Bushwacka! and Nic Fanciulli", which although a slightly scary prospect, can surely only be a compliment of the highest order! Any producer who can release on labels as diverse as Simple Records and Renegade Hardware deserves some serious attention – expect the unexpected. Completing the line up will be Mayo Clinic residents Smiggy & Ficklegruber, and of course the supremely talented Fat! resident Paul “Trouble†Arnold – with more acts still to be announced, whilst the No Way Back DJs, Scott Cooper and guests will be keeping the basement jumping. To say it's been a tough year for Fat! founder Paul Arnold would be an understatement, but happily he's back on fighting form and has big plans for Fat! in 2009, although he's keeping tight lipped for now… In the mean time tuck into your mince pies and have a Fat! 10. Merka ‘Make & Do’ Available in the Fat! shop DOWNLOAD HERE! Click here to Listen and Rate this album! This November we are proud to announce the eagerly anticipated return of one of Electronic music’s most exciting new talents – Merka, with his brand new second album ‘Make & Do’. This is what makes Merka stand out from the crowd: his blatant disregard for form or fashion glows throughout the mix with mischief and menace. iDJ Recommended 5/5 With ‘Make & Do’, Mark Ford is once again pioneering that Merka sound and thickening his pedigree. Building on the original ideas first laid down in ‘Beserka’ to provide that upbeat, jazzy sound which has already turned so many heads in the industry. But the beats have now matured, pushing his sound into a wholly new territory and appealing to yet another new audience. Merka’s talents have been embraced since the outset and gained him plaudits throughout the industry and on the dance floor. This chunk of forward-thinking funk is the turning point we all hoped his career would take. As introverted a creative soul he is, he knows he has an obligation to exercise the genius he’s been given. Enjoy his latest hit!
  11. Merkas new album "Make and Do" has now been released on Fat! records and is available for download from the link below: http://www.thefatclub.dloadshop.com/ Described as an upbeat, jazzy sound which features a mixture of soulful house, old skool hardcore and drum n bass this is indeed a highly original piece of work not to be missed! Merka has been nominated as Player of The Year by iDJ who had this to say about his new album ‘Make & Do’ ‘…this album is exceptional…Essential.’ 5/5 (RECOMMENDED)
