That was the the sound back then, build up drum patterns, synth, lines . It was dubbed " New York" progressive house. Many big room djs from manhatten to Long island was playing it.

I think it just became an instant guido anthem.

I never undertood what the deal with the song was. It use to hurt my ears.

Anyways i was just digging through my crates and found Johnny 's remix of Beat that Bitch with A Bat. Interesting piece of work.
