The parties you support.(Or Mugz gets all sappy)

Reading the thread about

Tronic ending got me thinking

about NYC and it's many "smaller" parties

that come and go in the analog's of the

history in DJ culture...

I myself have shifted and

changed throughout the years

in this city...

I've seen many clubs metamorphosize

and reinvent themselves under different

names and owners...

Parties EXPLODE in popularity

only to fizzle into oblivion as the

next big venue round the block becomes

the NEXT BIG THING....

But in all my years of

driving myself deaf by speakers

I've only lent a hand to those parties

which I felt offered something really

special to this city..

The parties that where run by

people whom had a "vision"

and where not in it for the

money ENTIRELY..

(Lets face it a good party

can only exist with $$$ but

there are those that throw parties

ONLY in order to gain wealth..

and there are those that do it to EXPAND A

SOUND THEY LOVE IN A PLACE

THAT MAY NEED DIVERSITY.)

True passion attracts the passionate..

And I have been lucky enough to be involved in

trying to contribute in my own miniscule way

those events which I felt had potential to

be something OTHER than

just another GLAM MEGA CLUB for

tone deaf trend mongers....

Be it Breaks (Big apple/bitter sweet)

Drum and Bass (Mutiny/Direct Drive)

Electro (Static/Luxx) ARTSY FARTSY happenings

(Combustive Arts/Lunaterium) or my current love affair with Techno (Tronic/Things to come/Sonic Groove etc...)

Or other stuff

like Nortec and global sounds.....

I will always hold a place in my heart

for those people that try and expand the

horizons of this city's music scene..

I am NOT a DJ...

I am a lover of music..

Someone who's been feeling

Many different types of expressions

through sound since they could learn to read...

For all of you that DJ, Promote,

organize or try in any which way to make NYC

a place of diversity and rich in the sounds

that you love the most...

I COMMEND YOU!

YOU ARE THE REASON I LOVE NY!

YOU INSPIRE ME AND REMIND ME WHY

AT ALMOST 30 I AM STILL JUMPING AROUND

IN THE LOUD DARK HOLES....

Don't ever stop.

Maudy your posts and threads (although sappy at times) always bring a smile to my face and make me laugh. It is good to see that even as we age/mature that there is still a kid in each of us ready to go out and play when the time is right.

Reading this today when I feel a bit low, made me smile! Thanks!

Thanks babe~

Music should do that as well..

It's the greatest force that

heals anfd UNITES..

Before I get all gooey and "plured out"

Let me also add that the LOCALS

will carry the torch of anything that fails...

The Filter 14s..Home Growns...

Pseudos...Drinklands..

etc...

Though I can not TRUELY clone

myself and be there to support

each and every night YOU are NY's

greatest hope..

NOT ARC,SF, Exit, Roxy

or any other super club...

EVERYTHING STARTS SMALL!

And NEW SOUNDS NEEEED TO

HAVE AN EQUAL SHOT IN COMPETETING

WITH THE LARGER VENUES!

don't know if this is what you're lookin for but

Wickedliquid - always good times/great couple a DJ's, good parties/good vibes - have done parties all over the place (Anthony Velarde/Iman Rizky)

D3 - DJ divine - great DJ, real nice guy, totally about adding positivity and fun to the scene....been doing this with illskillz for a while but is still totally down to earth about it...thursdays @ leopard lounge, plus much more - catch him if you haven't!

tronic - yeah, good DJ's....vibes (what's this about it ending???!?)

Oscillate (Plant tuesday phuture soul sessions, courtesy of Rah....pooh, nycdee, charlieruhle, chris/kai)

Hidden (Dee's ill thursday party @ discotheque) - doing it for the right reasons, and bringing astonishing talent to the table!!! good shite)

Touched by a DJ/Dave Sigmund - underground at its best (moist @ liquids, shipwrecked at frying pan, much more....)

Program - Keith/amy/spoony/frankieP....underground house/tech house crew...good peeps

homegrown - havent' been yet but seems like a good thing going....damn there's a lot of parties I want to hit...NYC's local crews seem to be about the right shit most of the time...plexi/blister/soundlogic/etc....

plant Saturdays...@ centro....marcus/dominique are great guys, good DJ's, and always bring top talent..

Urban promos - Andy Z/Steve Groove - like the direction they're going these days....great job on getting underground sounds to the masses....

Oak/Dwight G/Jay Biggs - this is HOUSE music...deep....groovin...stylin underground deep house music....

112 crew, met a few, seem like a good group of peeps....definite good dj's (only heard d. rodgers/b patrick/m licata)...haven't hit their noble parties yet though...

All the crowds that come out with good intentions and good thoughts....it shows at the parties....and that's the real important part....these great lil parties couldn't attract good crowds if there weren't so many chill people in our scene....

Doing it for the right reasons can be frustrating at times...but its the most rewarding for self...and to me is the only way to do it....

While on the subject, a lot of this is also on the owners/managers of clubs/lounges.....props to the ones who recognize what we're trying to do, not just measure the bar tab at the end of the night and totally base everything on that.....

yea the list goes on and on Charlie...

Open Air...

Poler Bear lounge....

SWIM....

Drinkland....

Guernica Sundays...

Camoflauge....

Blakkat....

etc..

etc..

There are many things that

give me hope and make me feel happy

to live outside of the BIG CLUB spectrum

and make me feel that NYC will have a scene

that will never die...

If Tronic goes there will be something else

to take it's place..

(Though I'm still waiting for Big Apple

Breaks & Static to make a come back

:( )
