mugwump
Reading the thread aboutTronic ending got me thinkingabout NYC and it's many "smaller" partiesthat come and go in the analog's of thehistory in DJ culture... I myself have shifted and changed throughout the yearsin this city...I've seen many clubs metamorphosizeand reinvent themselves under differentnames and owners...Parties EXPLODE in popularityonly to fizzle into oblivion as thenext big venue round the block becomesthe NEXT BIG THING....But in all my years of driving myself deaf by speakersI've only lent a hand to those partieswhich I felt offered something reallyspecial to this city..The parties that where run bypeople whom had a "vision"and where not in it for themoney ENTIRELY.. (Lets face it a good partycan only exist with $$$ butthere are those that throw partiesONLY in order to gain wealth..and there are those that do it to EXPAND A SOUND THEY LOVE IN A PLACE THAT MAY NEED DIVERSITY.)True passion attracts the passionate..And I have been lucky enough to be involved intrying to contribute in my own miniscule waythose events which I felt had potential tobe something OTHER thanjust another GLAM MEGA CLUB fortone deaf trend mongers....Be it Breaks (Big apple/bitter sweet)Drum and Bass (Mutiny/Direct Drive)Electro (Static/Luxx) ARTSY FARTSY happenings(Combustive Arts/Lunaterium) or my current love affair with Techno (Tronic/Things to come/Sonic Groove etc...) Or other stufflike Nortec and global sounds.....I will always hold a place in my heartfor those people that try and expand thehorizons of this city's music scene..I am NOT a DJ...I am a lover of music..Someone who's been feeling Many different types of expressionsthrough sound since they could learn to read...For all of you that DJ, Promote, organize or try in any which way to make NYCa place of diversity and rich in the soundsthat you love the most...I COMMEND YOU!YOU ARE THE REASON I LOVE NY!YOU INSPIRE ME AND REMIND ME WHYAT ALMOST 30 I AM STILL JUMPING AROUNDIN THE LOUD DARK HOLES....Don't ever stop. Thinking about it I could say that was a decade ago...I'm getting too fucking old.
stacychase
Maudy your posts and threads (although sappy at times) always bring a smile to my face and make me laugh. It is good to see that even as we age/mature that there is still a kid in each of us ready to go out and play when the time is right.Reading this today when I feel a bit low, made me smile! Thanks!
