Last tronic boat sailed away..(review)

SLAM had a death in the family

so canceled all American tour dates..

(Make up with Boat ticket on Nov 3rd)

But Gaitano Parisio was

more than a great make up..

Blew my mind upstairs..

The Advent was great as well

but to be honest with you I prefered

chilling downstairs with THE PUNISHER

and P JAY who threw down a very

minimal moody set that went down perfectly

with the mood I was in..

Allas the boat looked more like a ghost ship

at some points in the belly of the craft..

I just don't get NY at all when it comes to

suporting things like this. (shrugs)

Tronic is near it's end point.

I thought everyone that always blew

hard about Techno would surely be there

to bid their farewells and pay their last dancing

respects to a party that gave NYC so many

great nights.

*Great night in general.

With or without any of you CP Roxy heads

(Though it sure would have been

fun to see you lunatics representin')

Glasgow - Scotlant

Dear boat partygoer:

We are sad to announce that Stuart McMillan and Orde Miekle (i.e. SLAM) will not be able to perform at the Tronic Treatment the boat party this evening. Even though they had cancelled the whole American tour, Stuart and Orde were still planning on performing at this event tonight. Unfortunately, at the last minute they decided to stay at home and be with their families at this time of personal loss. They will be doing a make-up performance for Tronic Treatment on Sunday, 3 November, 2002

Sincere regards,

Dave Clark

Label manager

Soma Records

The good news is that if you

went last night and kept your

ticket you now get TWO nights

for the prize of one.

yeah there was some tumbleweed there... but i can pretty much sum up the party by the following:

my ears hurt

i'm tired

i'm hung over

i slept through class

i skipped the gym

i didn't grade papers like a good TA should

but dammit i'm a happy guy.

advent's set was a little disappointing not because of the music (which was great) but that it was all pre-programmed in cubase, and he just played with the levels and some fx a little bit. that's just as bad as playing from DAT - in fact it is worse because if his laptop crashed where would we have been? (lucky he used a mac). the whole point of a live set is that you can improvise and respond to the crowd/vibe. can't do that if you entire set is pre-programmed.

gaitano on the other hand was flawless - pounding, energetic set, always on point (even when the boat was rockin a little), always cool and in control. another one of those sets that made me want to drop out of school and play with the beatboxes all day.

the (lack of) crowd was a bit disappointing, but i found everyone on the boat to be really friendly. My budz mixed some vodka-redbulls in advance and that got me unusually drunk/energetic also. we did manage to break every world record in speed trying to get to the boat before it took off (140 blocks plus parking in 20 minutes - woo hoo!) but for the love of god, how many bald guys with black-rimmed glasses are there in techno??????

i'm going to miss these boat parties... a very welcome addition to my summer.

ps - hey ed - you forgot to call last night. not that we jammed for very long.... hehe :)

pps - did anyone go see sanchez@vox?

it is for this reason that i didn't go...didn't want to be just another 'bald guy with black-rimmed glasses.'

actually, i was ON MY WAY there...at 42nd/8th Ave at exactly 7:54pm. i gave up realizing that there was no way in hell i was gonna make down there in 6 minutes (f*cking buses). :(
