vigo
Can anyone predict how this new bill being passed is going to effect the club scene over there? We had something similar in the UK a few years back except it was mostly outdoor parties and sound systems that were targetted. Most people thought that it would drive dance-culture underground and crimalise peoples taste in music, with hindsight it did the complete opposite. Many of the sound systems became legit and started their own clubs, while the existing clubs cleaned up their act, bought in alcholpops, snazzy bottled beer and made the 'scene' completely commercial and dare i say mainstream. The 'act' was passed by Thatcher (a hated politician...similar to Bush I think?) and was a knee jerk reaction to a musical culture that was outside of the governments control. The repercussions of this act transmogrified the whole of the dance scene..musically and culturally....can anyone envisage whats going to happen in the US?Answers on a postcard please. vicman
please see what happened in DC with Buzz. because of increased pressure from DC govmnt and US armed forces, Nation was forced to stop Buzz events any further....similarly they are now saying that they will target other such "rave" like events...of course they dare not do anything to gay-friendly events in the area, not 'cuz anything shady goes on there, but because military servicemen and women DO NOT frequent those type of establishments. sobeton
the proposed legislation is too ambiguous. if it gets passed the ACLU will be all over it; like flies on sh*t. the only party that benefits from this, would be the insurance companies. clubs will have to extend the scope ;of the liability insurance which most carry.
