Homegrown - A Party for NYC DJ Talent

Tuesday, November 19th at Leopard Lounge 8pm-2am

Homegrown is a free weekly showcase of NYC¹s local up-and-coming DJ talent. Our sole purpose is to support New York City's thriving DJ scene. No attitudes. No discrimination based on experience. Simply an intimate setting where bedroom DJs get a shot at the spotlight and music heads get a chance to hear the unheard.

Every week all the DJs sets are recorded and then broadcasted on the web at www.metromixradio.com. Calling all djs: come down and submit your demos for an opportunity to spin in the future. Four 60-minute slots are available each week to be filled by up-and-comers and bedroom DJs alike, not to mention some very special guests. Come out to support your local talent and have a good time.

**Special Guest Alert**

John Dalagelis : Having just moved to New York in September from Greece, John Dalagelis is a talented force waiting to be discovered state-side. He has been spinning since 1993 (at the ripe old age of 12) drawing inspiration from artists like Sven Vath, Laurent Garnier, Pete Namlock and more

experimental groups like Autechre, The Orb, and F.S.O.L. He has had radio

shows on Sky FM Ioannina, Kiss FM Ioannina, and Super FM Thessalonika between 1995 and 1999, as well as being named Star of the Night, Best Young DJ, and snatching 4th place at the 1998 DMC Championships in Greece. John toured Italy and Germany as the warm-up DJ for the group Universal Trilogy, who incorporated electro, tech, and drum & bass with live vocals into their act with John adding his scratching skills into the mix. 1998 saw a departure from the breakbeat and drum & bass he had been playing, when he turned to the sounds of trance - now a focus of his sets which usually stems off of a deep tech house groove and encompass a wide variety of progressive sounds. The high point of John's DJ career thus far was an opening gig with the Orbital on the 2-city Electron Festival in front of 4000 people.

As if this man's rap sheet wasn't long enough, he also graduated as a sound engineer from the Paster Institute of France, and is now producing original material with his brother Nick. Tonight, Homegrown is giving you a taste of someone you will be seeing a lot of in the future with a special 2-hour extended set. Don't miss out!

Francis X 9-10 (house)

John Dalagelis 10-12 (deep tech house /progressive house)
