milano
Natasha, my Russian friend from last night was felling "tired" from last night's "party".It was midnight and my plan was to hit Crobar and Space for cooljunkie's 2nd Birthday. Instead, I don't know why I suggested to try first Lola, for Dirty Funky Little Thing's classic weekly. I haven't been there in like a month, maybe that's why I shot the suggestion. To my surprise, Natasha got "excited", I knew right away this night could be even better than last, now that we know each other a little better. We get in Lola just in time to use my two passes this guy gave me earlier this afternoon. Saved the $10 the entrance would have cost, and were in for a treat like few nights can give you in SOBE in the past few months. The place wasn't packed yet, but the energy could feel building. Music was still in its lower tone, all three of the DHM crew in the DJ booth, as if waiting to launch an attack on Saddam or something close to it.Natasha was instantly curious of the booth ( I think she knows one of the DJs without the Irish accent). Anyhow, while waiting to be served by that hot blond (never can remember her name, I'll call her Michelle because there is something of Montana's girl on her) I spot who else but Joe Budious. Dancing as if he never had danced before. Surrounded by three sweeties, two together, the other alone. I could tell Joe had no idea of what was going on behind him. Had I known him better I would had let him know. But hell, let him know now, that way he is a little more aware of the chicks after him every Saturday. The night kept flowing smoothly, music building perfectly, deep jazzy brazilian influence that would build up, and suddenly take you into a disco funky deep house, kind of reminding me the good old Miguel Migs. The dancefloor was getting really packed by then. This rasta/househead dude just going insane, alone in one corner, two hotties clapping at his moves and he not even noticing. JUST BE?? Hell yeah!I bumped to a few friends after a little while. Lorena, Carla and Jocelyn. You girls are so fucking hot!. BTW I liked the astonished look of Carla when she saw Natasha. At the same spot I bump with Marco, from PMS, and Fabio, owner of Contesta (one of the few Roma tifossi I respect and feel for, sorry for Wednesday:D )As I introduced Natasha to both of them, the conversation gradually disappeared, and we were carried away by the music, as most of the people near us were. I mentioned to Marco what a good vibeful tune it was. He wasn't completely sure of the song and went to the DJ booth to consult with Edwin (the MF Natasha knows). That was the turning point of the night. When Edwin dropped "I Can't Wait" - King Britt, the party just went in a journey of vibe, smiles and dancing pros (i know Mr. Budious you call it enthusiasts, but those guys tonight were more than just enthusists IMHO:eek: )As the night kept buiding up, the dancefloor had at least three turnarounds. Like only five star restaurants could ever have. 3 am was pushing for more than I had planned, but I can only blame DHM for that. I was grabbed by Natasha and almost dragged out. Who has ever been with a Russian can say they are cold blooded. Total BS!I call a cab to go home and in the way down home a couple friends call me and beg me to stop by Crobar. Natasha looked at me as if she would either slap me or give it to me right there. Good real state persuassion gave me the tools to stop at Crobar. Planning to stay briefly, I walked in like at home thanks to my hottie Trisa. Once in, the energy felt weird. Place was packed, hands going in the air, but what could had been? Fucking music, 93.1 Saturday afternoon ( I had wished it was Sat, night at Space!). I had completely forgotten it was the french moron on the decks. After four commecialized anthems I thought to myself, WTF am I doing here with this hot blondie wanting to leave and listening to the lamest music Crobar has ever fed me with?No matter what , Lola gave me the purest vibe of the week, fashionably simple beautiful girls. Crobar gave me the boot, thanks to the "hottest DJ in the world". Are these guys who run Crobar doing to many drugs lately???Thank you Joe and Thomas for working so hard to give SOBE an awesome get away. You guys and the host at the door are some of the coolest people in the industry.Well I got to go, Natasha is calling me to the Jah-QZ!! Sleep tight!!!!!!!!!!! And don't hate meeeeeeeeee!!!!! Even the stiff neck at the corner closest to the DJs, moving his head like "Walk like an Egyptian" They certainly added to the vibe.PS: Have you guys met Budious' roommate?
