Im gonna be in Detroit for labor day weekend, i was wonderin how the club scene is there. If there is any? let me know

Are you kidding?? Have you ever heard of Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson?? I don't know of any specific spots, but I met some cats, that a friend I work with grew up with there, at the WMC that throw parties/dj there. I can give them a shout and find out where to go.

Hell yeah i thought it was gonna be a buzzkill trip, but if you could find out wheres gonna be happening that'll help a lot.

Go to Pure downtown next to the new Tiger stadium (Comerica Park), you won't be disappointed, either Thur., Fri. or Sat. Try the Motor Lounge in Hamtramack on Sat. For afterhours hit Porter Street Station on 8th and Porter St. by old Tiger Stadium, ask for Chuck Daniels and if you see him tell him Dave Hickey and Colin O'Brien say "What's up".

If you want a martini lounge type chill out joint that plays house music and other cool downtempo breaks, etc. try Lush in Hamtramack, down the street from the Motor Lounge on Caniff.

I was just there last weekend and was quite impressed with the scene. What type of club are you into? Where are you staying?

Here's a quick rundown of the best places:

Motor - Hamtramck (dance)

Pulse - Woodward Ave in Detroit (dance - new)

The Temple - Ferndale (dance - new)

City Club - Detroit (goth/industrial)

Sangria - Royal Oak (salsa)

Definitely check out Royal Oak as they have a number of great places.
