Chris McDonald
In 2003 the tradition continues. The "Fresh" series now has last for 6 years and has outlasted any of other our series oriented events. The vibe at the "Fresh" events has always been just that: eager anticipation, excitement, funky fun, and a return to an energy not felt at most clubs or one offs these days. The Fresh series, ironically enough has always marked a turning point for us. Fresh in 1997 marked the end of our truly "underground" events in skate parks for the most part. Refresh in 1998 marked the beginning of us seeing larger turnouts and really proved that we had a grip of what the masses wanted. Fresh Start in 2000 was celebrating a new millenium for us, as well as the approaching birth of my son Zachary. In 2002 So Fresh & So Clean was the culmination of 5 years of work bringing the Fresh vibe to its ultimate pinacle. Now in 2003 we take you one step further. With the launch of Columns of Knowledge Recordings in 2003, as well as some welcome additions to the COK dj roster, we feel it's definitely time to bring the "Fresh"ness back to the party! The next chapter is now...feel the funk! Peace, Columns family '03!MAIN ROOM-"THE FRESHMAKA'S"DONALD GLAUDE (Moonshine, Seattle)Get your fuckin' hands UP! Donald Glaude has cemented his reputation as a crowd-rocking favorite and one of the most in demand artists in the country. He exudes energy, dropping track after funky track, arms aloft, and has been known to join the dancers on the floor. Off The Hook was Donald's first mix for Moonshine Music which displays Donald's own inimitable style, displaying the skills and energy that have made him one of the most exciting DJs to emerge in recent years. In between releases and the demands of his rigorous touring schedule, Donald has been concentrating his efforts on producing singles, such as "Soul Cha Cha" and "To The Soul", both of which can be found on his latest Moonshine effort, "Mixed Live". In early 2001, Donald launched Respect Recordings. Donald's dynamic, animated and energized persona definitely categorizes him as the "must see" talent. Not only is Donald dedicated to his craft, it is his amazing ability to connect with the crowds that makes his sets transcend mere mortality. 2:00-3:30AMTHE badHUMAN TOUR: featuring DIESELBOY w/ MC J-MESSINIAN and BAD COMPANY UK(Official Cd release event: Bad Company UK: Shot Down On Safari available on HUMAN/System Recordings 1/28/03)After a jaw-dropping, feeding frenzy at Skool'd, the opportunity to host this tour of 4 amazing artists could not be passed up. For Dieselboy it's one red hot tour after another; be it Planet of the Drums with his co-pilots Ak1200 and Dara, or his Area 2 stint with Moby this year to now this project with his longtime friends from overseas. Global appearances have made him "America's most in demand dnb dj". Fresh and Vegas of Bad Company' share the spotlight as one of drum and bass’s most exciting new production teams and DJs; ‘the hottest new production team on the block’ according to Dj Magazine. 2003 shows them building on the success of their previous material with a new spate of upbeat and daring releases on the label. 11:00PM-2:00AMMISSTRESS BARBARA (Relentless, www.relentlessmusic.com, Canada) Special 3 Decks and FINAL SCRACTH performance! 1st ever Columns appearance! flavanugz
Raves are for middle schoolers and crackheads. Will there be a backrub circle.......and will it be FRESH?
Chris McDonald
Um I am 27, married, have a kid, and run a record label. I will be djing this event and I find your attitude pathetic. Stereotyped jarhead mentalities like yourself need not apply.
flavanugz
dude, i went to one of your raves and it was pathetic.... fucking pre-pubescent teens geeking out in circles. friggin sad. i couldnt imgaine being someone who promotes an event that harbors insane amounts of drug use to americas already troubled youth.if your child said they were going to one of your parties with some friends, would u be upset? melissa8579
^^^are you serious? I'm 23 I work three jobs and I go to raves!! I've been sober since I was 17 and Columns of Knowledge throws some of the best parties on the east coast!! You have no idea what your talking about!! There are a lot of people that are just like me and go to parties for the music!! Just because there are people doing drugs there doesn't mean anything!! They are stricter at the Asylum about searching people then they are at any of the clubs I've ever been too!! I personally can't stand being around drunk people at clubs that's just my oppinion but I don't bash the club scene just because I don't like it!!! This party is going to be off the hook!!
flavanugz
OH IM SOOO SORRY. I take it all back.I cant believe u have been sober for 6 years and still cant realize that 90% of the music at Columns parties is an absolute disgrace to the East Coast music scene.
melissa8579
Did you even read the line up? You don't know your music if you think Donald Glaud, Diselboy, Mistress Barbra, Knowledge, Circuitbreaker, Bam Bam and all the rest of the DJ's at this party are a disgrace to the east coast music scene!! Just because they don't spin mainstream cheesey trance music doesn't mean their a disgrace to the scene!!! Like I said if you don't like it don't go, but why do you have to bash it like that? There are people that work very hard to see these events take place and there are a lot of people that go to these events that aren't going for the drugs!! That was the only point I was trying to make!! There's no reason to be so judgemental!!

flavanugz
Well, if u werent some promoters ass clown who only posts to back him up, then u would know i have many problems.First is, I hate it when people come on the board from out of nowhere and act like I give two shits about their a)party...or b)opinion. And just because you are 23 (wow u are old and knowledgable) and have 3 jobs, doesnt mean that you are what represents these parties. Dont act mightier than thou and tell me I dont know what these are about. Plus I love the fact that you assumed I listen to commercial cheese, that was actually funny, especially considering the music they play at columns parties.Second is, that this board has recently been flooded with posts about bullshit parties around New England. With the acception of a couple not-so-awful lineups, most of the parties promoted on here suck big ass. If they knew anything about the people who actually post on this board, they would know that most of us(not speaking for everyone) dont like the bullshit music/parties/scene that they promote. You should probably spend a little more time spamming boards about video games and glow sticks, then annoying me with your bullshit promotions. melissa8579
Well, if u werent some promoters ass clown who only posts to back him up, then u would know i have many problems. I'm not only posting to back him up! I'm posting because I dis agree with your oppinion about the scene! You shouldn't make assumtion either!!. And just because you are 23 (wow u are old and knowledgable) and have 3 jobs, doesnt mean that you are what represents these parties. I never said that I was what represented these parties all I said was that not everyone that goes to these events fits the sterotype you seem to be putting them in!! Dont act mightier than thou and tell me I dont know what these are about. Plus I love the fact that you assumed I listen to commercial cheese, that was actually funny, especially considering the music they play at columns parties. I'm sorry if I made an assumption but most of the DJ's spinning at this party are very good and you might disagree with me but there are a lot of people out there that don't!!Second is, that this board has recently been flooded with posts about bullshit parties around New England. With the acception of a couple not-so-awful lineups, most of the parties promoted on here suck big ass. I don't undrestand why you have such a problem with someone trying to promote their parties! If you don't like the line up, don't go! If you don't like spam, don't read it. It's pretty simple! There's no reason to bash it like that! Everyone likes different things!! So maybe this party isn't your thing but when you reply to a post good or bad all it does is bump it to the top of this list. If you really don't wanna see it on your board then don't reply and it will fall to the last page and you won't have to look at it! Seriously you should just chill out! I'm sorry if I offended you I really don't wanna fight! I'm really a nice person and I didn't mean any dis-respect!!
unclefester401
I'd like to add my .02 to this discussion. The problem is that the people that regularly contribute to this forrum are a community of sorts. They talk on a daily basis, and many of the hang out when they aren't online. As a community, they want people to contribute and become part of the community. By starting off with plugs for parties you're saying that you have no interest in the community, you just want to use it for advertising. If you took the time to get to know people, and earn their respect before you started promoting your parties, people would be much more receptive. They might even take a chance and go check out an event that they normally wouldn't have, just to support another member of the community. It's true that these boards are here to inform people, but people need to know what you're about before they follow you. I'm a DJ, and I don't think I've really blown up my own events on here because I'm still relatively new to CP, and don't want people on here to think I'm "using" CP. If there is something going on that I think might be of interest, I'll mention it, but I talk about more than just my events. I hope you don't view what I've said as an attack, it wasn't meant to be, but you should understand why there is hostility.

By coming on here and attacking my comments, give me absolutely zero respect for you and anyone that you are defending. To tell you the truth, I do most of my bitching for shits and giggles. If you dont like, and you dont know me, than I could see how you could take my comments for more than they are worth. If you want to hear a good dj and see what this seen :should" be about, then come to avalon on friday and see probably the greatest dj in the world. Chris McDonald
Personally I agree that everyone is welcome to their own opinion. Having said that, replies to simple plugs for events without any ill intention toward viewers of this site or anyone else for that matter should not have to be recipients of such immediate negative flak. Like Melissa said, you can always ignore such a post. We all have a right to be here. I agree that not all the music at my events is credible with being (high-calibre)... simply because a lot of people out there don't request what I consider high calibre talent (Barbara, Christian Smith, Marco Carola, etc)... but on that same note I am not just throwing events for myself. I am booking talent people have asked me to bring in. You are more into the older, drinking, clubbing community. No problem. I've hung @ Avalon before. Sometimes its my thing, sometimes I can't stand the music their either. All depends on mood and artist of course. As for getting to know a community before posting, given that I have a son, a regular job outside event coordinating, a record label to run, and a family I don't have time to learn the idiosyncracies of each poster's personality. I do know that every forum has their ballbreaker. Guess that must be you. Heh. As for my djing... heh... I couldn't care less if you hate me or not. Every artist/dj/producer whatever is hated by someone. As for my son? Hell he's 2 1/2... if he was 15 no I would strongly caution him about the temptations associated with nightclubs and nightlife. I wouldn't make him feel inferior by wanting to attend such functions though. Commercial electronica clublife originated in raves so that which you disrespect spawned what you enjoy now. Disrepect your past and I don't see how you are evolving. I am very accepting of both club and rave communities. The 2 need to coexist for the genre of electronica to evolve as a whole. That's my .05 for now.
