Friday Night: Rain, Nerve, Maze, Lime

1. Rain, got to the door around 12, told the girl we were on the list, she didn't even bother to check, straight in, nice kid, Inside they had a good crowd early, very young, the music was so-so, tribal & funky, west coast/spanish style, actually liked what the guy was playing in the side room a little better, though there was no real sound system there.

2. Nerve, free. Music better here, was expecting their garage night, but I guess that's been postponed, or cancelled, or something. Great sound system, but the bottom end sounded very muddy. Anyway Michael Storms played some decent funky, techy tracks... then another DJ comes on(?), played some more decent tracks, then all of a sudden drops this acid tech monster called "Satisfaction" (Benny B), people are really digging it even though it's pretty weird, then all of sudden he drops another track very quickly that kind of kills the vibe, so we're off...

3. Maze, junkie list... Matt Martinez spinning more repetetive tribal, although the sound system is great, so then...

4. Lime Bar.... Oscar Fonseca in the house, rocking it with an eclectic tribal/tech mix, he seemed to be keeping it more funky than usual, definitely the best DJ of the night, great tracks and smooth, long mixes. The crowd was a bit more mature, just goes to show that if you play quality music you'll attract a corresponding public. They really need to get more bass cabinets in this room, the one is just not cutting it, this music needs strong bottom end to really be appreciated, but even without it the music here far surpassed every other place we had been to, Oscar should play in the main room at Maze and hopefully he'll get a chance sooner or later ;)

Nice seeing you at Nerve ... BTW ... nice promo ...

Agree with you 100% ... that Satisfaction song was really ... really up there for me ... but the following track ... :blank:

Oscar is awesome ... he played a great set at P:M Sessions during WMC ... I dig his sounds ... BIG TIME ...

Both Jimmy T and Jon Cowan rocked it ... we were there 'til pretty late ... :hat:
