James Holden: New Label, New Record 02:21 am

Border Community is the name of the brand new label venture from James Holden exclusively managed by Andy Jarrod / 3 Beat Label Management and distributed exclusively though Amato.

As stated in the press release

”On the verge of chart success with his Holden and Thompson collaboration “Nothing” for the legendary Loaded label, James Holden returns with his first solo track for well over a year on the 14th of July, the Border Community debut release “A Break in the Clouds”. With both dancefloor and ambient mixes, “A Break in the Clouds” provides the perfect illustration of the concept behind Holden’s new label venture. With a vision best described as “danceable leftfield electronic music”, Border Community seeks to both bring more leftfield sounds onto the dancefloor and make dancefloor records which you can still listen to at home – with locked grooves, dj tools and other surprises thrown in for those more hardworking DJs out there.

The Border Community label will provide not only an important outlet for James Holden to push back his own boundaries with his more underground and left-of-centre productions, but also offers the chance for established producer friends of Holden’s to write the more experimental music that many have always really wanted to write, but which other more clubby labels may shy away from releasing. Look forward to some interesting goodies over the coming year!

As well as pushing his own musical vision, with Border Community James Holden also hopes to offer a stepping stone for the talented young producers whose CDRs have been a highlight of his sets over recent months making their first steps into a career in music. In an industry where it happens all too often that the young and inexperienced are taken advantage of, James hopes that with contracts reflecting a minimum commitment and fair terms all round he can ensure that the careers of the new producers he unearths for Border Community are at least launched in the right direction.”

Hopefully more DJ’s and producers, will follow this lead and give the talented young producers a chance without tying them up in demanding contracts and throttling their creative enthusiasm.
