Im looking for a two or three bedroom apartment, as close to south beach as possible, as cheap as possible, but nice. I have been searching on the internet but I am unsure of what places are nice to live in and which places I would be scared to live in...its two or three of us girls, we need a nice plaec we feel safe in. pod Posted August 9 Report Share Posted August 9 Umm have you checked out the new condos on 33rd and Biscayne? That's hardly ghetto. I live on 54th and Biscayne, and inside the walls of the community it's great...outside it's bloody cracktown though, but that's why god invented concealed weapons permits. I'm moving though so I don't need one...Where I'm moving to is a great neighborhood. North Bay Village is about 10 minutes from South Beach...and you're right off Collins. I recommend living off the beach because it's easier to get to essential services and you don't have to pay overinflated prices. I'm not gonna pay all these extra local taxes on top of what is there already. Beach Impact taxes, etc...bloody socialists running that place. I read some interesting stories about how it used to be from the '60s to the early '90s. Mob influences everywhere, streetwalkers and crack dealers. Amazing transformation that area has had.I'd have to agree that Biscayne is not the best recommendation. I'd say get your asses down here for a weekend, pick up the New Times and check out the real estate ads (Delta has flights for less than $150 RT out of LaGuardia right now). Also, just do a walk through the SoBe neighborhood. Many smaller buildings don't advertise, but rather post their number on their property. Avoid 6th to 10th west of Washington, still a little seedy. South Beach is def. for single people who want to party all the time. I think we're moving to Aventura or some area like that which is within an hour commute of Miami. We want to be able to have a nice relaxing place to come home to instead of screeching tires, leeches whistling a women, and the general craziness of South Beach 24/7. We still like the party atmosphere already though in Miami as compared to where we are now (NJ/NY). Only thing starting to concern us now is.... WHAT'S UP WITH THE HURRICANES?! Just saw pics of torn up houses and cars!
