I of course think that killing someone is a little extreme, but every article I've read on this really brushes off the fact that these kids were throwing tons and tons of tomatoes at every car that passed by. That's not a "harmless prank" - that can cause an accident, scare the bejesus out of someone, etc. I'm just sick and tired of people in America having no sense of discipline and not being punished for wrong doings.
