shroomy
OK by popular demand.........Here is how to eliminate most of the popups you will get.Step 1)Use notepad to open the file C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hostsNo there is no extension it is just called hosts.Step 2)Add the following 3 lines to the bottom of the file127.0.0.1 ads.clubplanet.com127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net127.0.0.1 m.doubleclick.net127.0.0.1 m2.doubleclick.comStep 3)Save the fileIf your browser is open, close it. When you reopen it you shouldn’t get any banner ads or popups. It should work for at least 90% of you, if it doesn’t you need to enable LMHOSTS lookups on the WINS tab in your TCP/IP settings.(which is different for each operating system so Im not going to list a way for each)BTW Google has a free toolbar for Internet Explorer that makes searches very easy but also blocks popups rather well. It prob doesnt work for the "Escape" one since it isnt really a popup, they use dhtml instead. but it works for the rest of them.Get it here
nexusgroove
better watch out when messing with that file.it redirect the sites as well...alot of hacker are using that file to redirect u to a ghost site the may look like the site u are trying to reach, but really isn't...usually google is the first to be redirected.FYI
shroomy
Well yes, some viruses mess with that file. But you really cant mess things up unless you try to.If you notice other sites in there, you may want to take them out if you dont know why they are there.BTW your basically telling your pc to look for 127.0.0.1 wich means your local machine for any item in the list.So you will get a page not found instead of the ad. obby
WHAT A FOLKIN RUMPPERFECTOK, now about Pop-UpsI have attached "Pop-Up Stopper Pro" along with the serial number which converts the demo to the full version (hack away). IT IS THE BEST SOFTWARE THAT I HAVE FOUND TO ELIMINATE POP-UPS.Keep in mind that once installed, ALL sites will be disabled from pop-ups so it will be up to you enable pop-ups to the sites that you decide to give access to. This software cost $50.00 so take advantage. "Pop-Up Stopper Pro" is actually an add on to Internet Explorer which makes disabling and enabling sites easily accessible.I hope I don't get in trouble for this.Hope it helps,Download Herehttp://soturecords.com/Pop-Up-Stopper-Pro+Serial-Number-Supplied-by-OBBY.zipOBBYwww.soturecords.com

djreiss
another tip for no popups is using norton firewall 2003.not only does it stop hackers (and allows you to trace them) it kills all popups & eliminates ALL advertisements from web pages, making browsing very quick & ad free. just as it should be.BTW Obby, i have a keygen for your popup stopper pro.peace
